Hmmmm, I seem to be the only person who is choosing a boring career path. Nursing, midwifery specifically. Of course, if I don't do good at that, I'm just gonna pick Anesthesiology, because you make a ridiculous amount of money doing it.

I don't know if you can tell, but I grew up poor. I never had any "dreams" about my profession, I just chose what made the most money. Luckily I am insanely fascinated with the birthing process, so at least I won't be bored lol

Terrible time to post this, but darn it I just want this done... It's been a long day. Didn't finish the armor because I ran out of time and hate drawing armor (*is used to drawing naked people*--from now on Zevran will only appear naked in anything I do), but you get the idea. Just read through the somewhat meaty description to understand what it's about.

Why Nonvita my bestest friend ever, what a nice thing to wake up to! :wizard:<3 すげえぞ、この絵は!(sugee zo, kono e wa = incredible, this pic)

Thank the Maker, I'm going to get my scanner, my GT, my japanese futon (take THAT stupid couch, no more back pain!) and the game consoles from my old hovel today. Finally.
I get to clean up the old scan, maybe even think about coloring or doing outlines on the new comic, maybe do that sketch I've made of Zev's first... survival kill in the quarters where the Crows keep their youngest recruits. *sighs*
Happy~...

So I suppose he bowled me over very early on, as this all happened very quickly after meeting him. I do plan to play through the Alistair romance at some point, but I seem to be leaving the human female (my avatar here) that I planned to do it with in Ostagar, while I make new characters to romance Zevran all over again.

I romanced Alistair once on my xbox, but of course if you don't make him king and are in a romance with him, his dialogue is completely screwed up after the landsmeet (he thinks he's king...d'oh!). That play through was a human noble that didn't want any responsibility, she just wanted to stab things with her sword... she was very controlling, though, and preferred Al (who's a complete tool) to Zevran (who actually has a mind of his own).

It was really cool doing a Zevran-as-a-friend-playthrough (unfortunately for Al, Zev was still the highlight for me), but I was annoyed at how buggy the end of that run was. I ended up just reloading and making Al king (and my Warden queen) since he went on and on about it anyway (immersion breaking!).

I only romanced Al once on my PC version.... to check out his BSC. F5/F9! lol.

Never going to romance him again, probably. He bored me. I'd never date a virgin IRL... so, sorry Al. lol (am I a bad person? nah...)

Anyway, I love that you have a different view on a lot of the Zevran romance, Sannox. Makes for good conversation! And it gives me a new perspective, which I appreciate.

I love reading other people's views.  It's certainly interesting that we don't all have the same view.  I love the conversations here.

No, you're not a bad person.  I have dated virgins.  It's not something I'd choose to do, but I wouldn't reject somebody on those grounds.   Although, by a certain age, I suppose it starts to become a bit creepy, unless they've been in prison or otherwise unable to lose it.   Mine were young, but they weren't nearly as hard work as Alistair.  Or any work at all - they were grateful, if anything.    I can't imagine being in a relationship with somebody who refused sex at the beginning.   It would be a deal-breaker for me.  Or at least, they would need a good reason - if it was due to traumatic experiences, sexual abuse, etc., then I'd have sympathy, of course.   If it's just that they disapprove, then it would seem that our attitudes are too different for us to be compatible.

ETA: If I became single again now, then I can't see me dating a virgin at this point in my life, so I'm with you on that.  I don't care how many lovers somebody has had, but I would prefer it was more than none.   But the main thing is their attitude to sex, and to me.  I've found from experience that sexual compatibility is very, very important, more than people admit.

It sounds like the Al romance might not be worth seeing through, especially if the dialogue is bugged at the end.  (I imagine, if my character loved him, I'd be less likely to want to make him king and more likely to want to just run off with him - but it looks like I couldn't play it that way).   I thought he was sweet at 'love' but couldn't compare to Zevran's utter devotion.

Good day everyone. I love seeing all those lovely screenshots, don't you know. I refuse to read too far back, I've no idea what I posted after getting home. Lawdy, what a party. I've not celebrated this much in a long, long time. Now I'm paying the price. Where the hell are the aspirin?

*glares at (probably) innocent cat*

Ejoslin is famous I see, congrats. I also find the drawing very sweet, Nonvita. I can't stay long, I have to go to a fish-fry. *gags at the thought of food*

Anyway, if I posted utter nonsense, or (heaven forbid) insulted anyone inadvertantly, I hereby apologize. I'll never touch alcohol again.... for a week or two, I swear, lol.

Thanks Sannox, I am relieved. Yeah, I definitely needed it, it was a very bad month, very stressful at work. I was soooo tired. My friends had to practically drag me out of the house, but it was great fun to have most of my friends all in one place.

The hangover isn't that bad, thank goodness I was smart enough to stay away from the Pernod. We all know how that devious (but yummy) liquor works on the 'day after'.

I'll have to leave soon, and later on I'm planning on playing my mage a little more, she's coming close to the landsmeet. I am so hoping that Charsen will have succeeded with the HF by then. If not, she will go on ice.

Obsessed? Who's obsessed? Not me, no, no! Lies and slander!

I wish someone who was good at making banners would make me an Ali banner, like the awesome ones you Zevranites have. Who do I have to butter up to make one for me?

I made Zev banners and I'll gladly do something with Alistair for you, just send me a PM and describe what you want on it :)
I can see you discussed freeing Jowan before. I'm not sure if this had been said, so I'll pop in just in case. His quest ("Jowan's intentions") is glitched and the only way you can get is by using the console :? It's described somewhere on wiki. I also wish there was a nicer way to convince him to escape, since my mages certainly wouldn't say "I never want to see you again"! I roleplay both of them as Jowan's best friends and Nadia (my avatar) even loved him, even though she was in denial for a long time.

@Nonvita - yay, fanart! I like your style a lot :) I know how it feels, getting back to drawing after long time.

Well, there is a mod on the PC to fix Alistair's bugged dialogue (the Alistair dialogue patch), but last I heard it wasn't compatible with Ejoslin's mods, so I don't bother using it.

But I definitely agree with you: sexual compatibility is very important for a relationship to be successful. I've never dated a virgin, but I'd imagine I wouldn't be up for it. I'd know what I was missing, after all...lol. So Alistair blushing about licking lampposts and (eventually) losing approval if you ask him to your tent? Not surprising that it led my PC easily into Zevran's oh so eager arms even in my first playthrough.

Edit: Glad to hear you had fun, Sabriana! Sounds like you needed it!

I'm back, and I still live. Yay. The weather played nice, and the Mosel river was beautiful. And we were definitely NOT fishing, because it's not the season yet, and everyone knows it's against the law. We were just walking along the river and the fish jumped out, right into our bucket. Really. Honest truth. I swear. We were all so shocked! Shocked, I tell you! Silly suicidal fishes...

I don't use the Alistair mod either, because of the same reason, Fuzzy. It's such a shame that Jowan can't be released, not even through mods. I heard his quest was bugged, but Soulsweeper said it could be activated via console. It's such a nice quest, and it shows that Jowan is not a bad person, just a mage caught in a bad situation. I still feel that the Chantry carries a large chunk of the blame when mages go bad, if they weren't so nasty and oppressive, mages wouldn't rebel. I shudder when I think of tranquility. What an awful, awful thing to do to a human being.

Well, I better get some play-time in, some friends will come by later and we'll fix up the rest of the suicide-fish.

Unfortunately, Alistiar's Dialog Patch and Zevran's Gates Dialog Fix are completely incompatible. However, my Alienage Fix is compatible with both. Oooooh, and ZGDF now repairs the "royal scandal" glitch. I should probably rename it to Zevran Dialog Fix and include the Leliana fix as well, though that would require it having two versions.

Anyway, good morning! Those elf males screenshots are beautiful. I really REALLY am looking forward to seeing the female variants! I think I would be crying if I were working on them, getting those pained expressions down.

Oh, Sabriana, I JUST released Jowan, which meant I had to kill Connor. It will be interesting to see what ends up happening.

Edit: Nonvita, lovely picture!

Hi, oh famous one ;)

I read the article, and it was quite good, Ejoslin.

I could've done that with my mage. I never actually killed Connor, nor did I make Isolde kill him. My BM/AW mage actually did the tower first (because we had Zevran <3 to Charsen), and I fully planned to save everyone at least this once. I guess Isolde is damned to lose in my games, even if I don't plan it that way.

My PC agreed to go to the tower, but I wanted her to speak to Connor first. My game glitched on me, and acted as if my PC had entered Eamon's room instead (she didn't). My PC had to fight the demon, and then Isolde killed Connor. I was going to reload, but then I let it stand. However, had I known this would happen, I'd have let Jowan go right away.

I do agree, the line to let him go could be nicer. My mage certainly didn't want to never see him again. They were friends, and no, she never blamed him for lying. The threat of tranquility is truly horrible.

Hmmmmm, one of these days I'll look at cleaning up the entire endgame. Alistair IS horribly bugged, and I think it wouldn't be too awful finding the errors in scripts. My main problem with doing that is since I don't romance Alistair, even with testing I would likely not be motivated to check it, and since the Alistair fixes ARE already in place elsewhere, I'm not sure just fixing those few files would be worth it. Another alternative would be contacting Lady Olivia and asking her to make a few changes to Alistair's Dialog Patch, but since ZGDF is going to be so much better when Charsen is finished with it, I don't think that will work either. Plus, her patch is Alistair focused, not Zevran focused.

I wish there was a project for fixing ALL the endgame bugs, not just the ones for one particular character. You know, one that fixes Alistair and Zevran at the gates, hardened Leliana dumping an engaged HN, the screen glitch with Zevran marrying a HN, etc.

Edit: Wow, I'm good at hitting enter WAY too soon!

@Sabriana are you having fun with your mage? I actually had planned to run to the tower, but I had been just looking at some of CZ's screenshots and I wanted to punch Isolde in the face!  Interesting, I didn't lose as much approval with Alistair as you'd expect.  His rose dialog doesn't trigger until after you finish one treaty quest, so after he finished b***ing out my City Elf, he gave her a rose.  Then they had sex and he fell in love.  Poor guy got dumped at the docks outside of the mage's tower, though :crying:  I didn't realize Zevran's approval was that high yet!

It's been a fun game, actually.  Those little changes do make a difference!  Are there any other changes anyone would like?

Zevran Gates or Alistair's dialogue? Very easy choice.

I'd have thought there might be a patch that fixed everything by now, but what do I know? It's great that unpaid fans are making fixes in their own time.

I mentioned earlier that Zevran changes from adore to warm if you give the feast gifts. I've tried giving them just before Taliesin, and he does change to love after the Taliesin fight. It seems to be just as if he is at adore rather than warm, so maybe he still counts as adore, even though he shows as warm.

I don't have the heart to play through the whole of the last part of the game to see if he ever gets to love if you give the gifts after Taliesin. I will have a look later to see if he goes from love to warm, in the same way he goes from adore to warm. But for now, be warned!

The thing is, the two other patches that were made were made by Alistair fans. I made ONE Alistair fix to mine because it only affected a "hostile" Alistair, and I doubt that would even be noticed by an Alistair fan. I'll look into fixing some of the Alistair problems -- at least the ones where he's referencing himself as king when he is not. That probably is caused by the same types of problem as what was causing the Zevran problems (the scripts calling up the wrong flags).

Sannox, I wouldn't worry. The way you can tell his actual status is by his greeting. There's the well known glitch where his status says "love" but he's actually at adore. He still answers, "You call?" though.

Edit: Wow, just looked at the scripts surround Alistair's dialogs. Now I haven't tested anything, and I'm not very familiar with the scripting language, but I believe I just found the stupidest error yet for Alistair not acknowledging that he's "still in love."  I would have been fired, seriously, back when I worked, had I let errors like this out the door.

So if his greetings are as they should be, everything else should be as it should be? That's a nice, easy way to test, then.

The reason I'm fiddling about is because I'm at the bridge in the Gauntlet. I know it's simple, I know what I'm supposed to do. I've done it before, but ... I just always forget who's standing on what. I refuse to look at a walkthrough and write it down. *grits teeth*.

Because Ali usually ends up as king in my games, I've never noticed this glitch. I've never done the Morrigan ritual before, so Loghain is my regular dragon-slayer. I just can't bring myself to kill Alistair off, because

a) I like him,

B) Ferelden needs him

c) I want Eamon to go away

d) Anora would end up solo-queen and so would get her way, and

e) I can't bring myself to have my PC kill someone who yielded. Right in front of his daughter too. I feel no connection to Anora, neither like or dislike, but I just can't do that.

However, I've no idea what my dalish will do. As of now, he's fallen hard for the witch, but will he do the DR? I don't know yet.

I always do the DR. It seems to be a case of either a death now, or sort out the problem of the potential demon god baby later. I tend to go for the short term consequences.

I feel the same about (e), Sabriana. I don't want to kill Alistair, but I find it difficult to kill Loghain in front of Anora. It's not right. I let Alistair do it once and it was brutal. I don't want to allow that again.

Ok, I've come to the conclusion that either their programmers didn't know the scripting language, or *I* am not grasping it. Though it should be the latter, I am suspecting it's the former. Fixing Alistair's dialog may only be a morning's work. The problem is, I won't be able to test it.

There is a mod that aims to do that, called "Engame Dialogue and Epilogue Slide Fixes". Maybe you could collaborate with its author, Saxony_Porcelain?

Back to Jowan - I agree with you, Sabriana. People say that he is whiney  even though he's the one making bad choices all the time, but I think that the most important choices had already been made for him. He didn't choose to be a mage, didn't choose to live in a tower knowing that he'd eventually have to take a very difficult test in which failure equals death. I'm sure he'd be perfectly happy living somewhere peaceful and being a farmer. I believed him when he claimed he wouldn't use magic anymore once he was free. It's hearbreaking that you can't do anything for him. Sending him back to the tower is portrayed the best option, but is it really? Gregoir wanted Jowan's head even before he learnt about Redcliffe. Sometimes I think that killing him personally is the most merciful option. Actually I drew a fanart of him and my PC sharing last moments before the execution. Since some of you like Jowan, I hope it won't be a terrible faux-pas if I share it with you

Image IPB

I experimented with lighting and I know it's off, I think I'll use reference next time. I also continue practising drawing kisses, this time using Zev and Charsen's mod as an inspiration :innocent:

I really felt bad the first time Alistair just up and left, but after Loghain redeemed himself by dying, I found that Alistair was starting to come around. Yes, his dialogue was snarky in parts, but he seemed to have calmed down a lot.

I just wish my PC could've said something like "Thanks for the help in the all-important battle, Alistair. Duncan would have been so proud." But I can play it in my head that he does feel bad for abandoning Ferelden in its greatest hour of need. Especially because Gaider said that he envisioned that when creating the character of Alistair.

My PCs are all lucky, and totally in love with Zevran, so losing Alistair as a lover is never a part of my game. It hurts them that they seemingly lose his friendship, but like I said, to me it feels as if he's coming around at the coronation. I especially love to hear him say "If Anora thinks she can rule all by herself, she has a surprise coming." Bravo, Alistair. Go get 'em.

Sannox, I so wish the Landsmeet wasn't so weird. There should definitely have been an option to pull Riordan aside and ask him about his idea. Perhaps Alistair would've relented then. He would at least have seen that the more GW's the better, because it cannot be anyone else slaying the archdemon.

Plus, I always found it especially strange that Zevran seems to know more than the two GWs as far as dying goes. Sweet, but strange.

Wheee, Soulsweeper. That is a lovely picture. Oh lordy, she's crying *sniffle*.

It is so true though, both times my mages had to send him back to the tower, I had a little heart-ache. Poor Jowan. And yes, I did believe him too when he said that. He really isn't a bad person, especially when you see his quest. Next time he will get set free. Mage or no mage. I'll think of a way that my other PCs can justify it. My dalish hasn't been there yet, he'll do it. He's used to mages being free, and will not understand the whole imprisonment/harrowing/tranquil thing.
