like I said random out of character approval drops FTL... he doesnt even say anything during the entire quest either which makes the approval loss even more random
really what where people thinking when they came up with the approval system? (see Wynn gaining approval for sleeping with a virgin elven girl while losing approval for sleeping with her would be boyfriend)
I think the Wynne thing is a bug. Also, when you pick up Calian's sword Zevran says "That is a sexy sword and I MUST have it!". Unfortunately, he and Alistair both talked at the same time when I looted that chest, but I wasn't listening to Alistair.
As for Calain, it IS just a body. I just tried all of the possiblities and Zevran also disapproves if you leave him to the wolves. He only gains approval if you do nothing. I think he probably thinks it's a waste of effort to do anything about it since he is already dead. But since he doesn't say anything either way, it's just a guess.
P.S.- Return to Ostagar is out, as of today.

infact the entire DLC was lackluster for me hell you dont even get any dialogue unless you take Wynn and Alistair/loghain with you outside the quest giver atleast when i ran through it

Zev never said a word the entire time I was there...it was just Alistair and Wynne.
I did really like it overall though...better than the other two actually, although they do have their good points.

I killed Wynne in this playthrough, so I went to Ostagar with Alistair, Zevran, and Morrigan. Only Alistair and Zevran had anything to say, though. And the only line Zevran said was about Calain's sword.

Loghain pretty much blew a fuse when he saw them (not that I really blame him)

I'll have to play it through with just Zevran and the warden and see if there's an dialog that sheds some light on any of it. I am not sure if I liked RTO. Cailin's body being up there seemed contrived, especially since I used my current game, which is going after the arch demon now. I liked the battles, the dialog between Alistair and Wynne is funny as well. In order to take Loghain there, you have to be post landsmeet as well, which makes Cailin's body being strung up there in good condition . . . just immersion breaking.

As for the loss of approval, I can see what his reasons are, considering his approach to the subject of death, but indeed a bit of explanation would have been nice, and having a dialogue option to explain to him the memory of Ostagar - the nightmare that the battle was, and the (albeit reckless) courage of the King even in the face of defeat - would have been even better.

Yes, I can see the reasons for a disapproval, but a vocal man such as Zevran wouldn't keep mum about it. That's not the way he is, period.
I mean, my mage and my HNs are all of the opinion that Cailan was oddly enthusiastic and child-like (mage), and that he was a foolish man (my HN's). And if he gets a pyre, so should all those left over whom he led into death due to his glory-fetish. Plus, lighting a huge fire in the middle of forest and darkspawn is quite silly, if not downright idiotic.
But I want to hear him say it, and I want the opportunity to agree/disagree.
However, I'm relying on heresay, because I don't have the add-on yet. Looks like I'm not getting it either, at least for now. I've got enough to play with already, and I fully plan on exploring user made quests afterward.

I don't recall Leliana saying anything throughout, though. Being as she is a bard I'd have thought she'd have a comment about the historical significance of the place and event if nothing else.

And AndreaDraco, thank you, your explanation saved that expansion for me!
Edit: Doing a duo run made me appreciate how much damage both Zevran and my PC do. It took the same amount of time with just the two of them as when I had both Alistair and Wynne as well. Of course, in this run my Warden was level 23 and Zevran 22.

... I don't think I get it. I mean, I understand what he's saying, but I can't quite understand what he's implying. Can someone shed a light for me? Even with a PM, if you don't want to spoil it for other Zev fans

Zevran disapproves if you disturb the body, whether setting it on fire or giving it to the wolves. He very much is a survival of the fittest person, and has at least one trophy of his own. It's not an uncommon thing, that the victors display the bodies of the leaders of the vanquished -- it's possible he feels that the darkspawn earned that particular trophy.
I don't like that interpretation, and it doesn't feel in character for him, but that, in addition to him commenting on it being crude since if you kill a king you'd want to see if face, it makes the most sense to me. It's disturbing, no matter what. Could the writers be wanting to make him appear colder? No clue.
Edit: I want to add that I don't like this interpretation at all and it feels more wrong the more I think about it. It doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel in character, but nor does the dialog between Alistair and Wynne.

If I try and imagine to go back right after getting Zevran, when he hasn't still opened up to the Warden, and when he has still to undergo his process of growth, I can see why an Antivan Crow could say something like that, and fit with the great explanation ejoslin gave us above.
However, after the campaign, if the Warden has been romancing Zevran, Zevran has become a very different character, both more confident in his own value and more warm, while that final sentence displays him like too cold a character to fit with the person he's grown into thanks to his relationship with the Warden, his friendship and trust.
That sentence may be appropriate for the Zev who went to Ferelden to die at the hand of the Gray Wardens, feeling empty and meaningless, but it's not appropriate at all for Zev 2.0, so to speak

You know, you're absolutely right. It does fit in if you do Ostagar just after getting Zevran. My problem is I played this with a post-campaign save. It does make me feel better about that line, and his reaction. Probably in subsequent playthroughs I will play that closer to the beginning. At the end, though, it just does not work well.

I have a question whats the female version of the "how long have you been gay" talk with Zevran once you get the romance far enough? since I doubt it is the same as below (I would be atleast sad if you dont get the line about tight leather clothing)
Hmmm, the variant on that would probably be the, "You must have quite a history with women," dialog. Is it the one where he says he thinks he prefers women but a certain openmindedness is required? You get it when you can start going to the tent. And there's nothing about leather clothing, unfortunately.

also no comment on being intrigued by tight leather clothing? thats sad I generally got a laugh out of that line since it looked like he was trying to deflect the question with humor like alistair would
