I never experienced the one where he states that he thinks he prefers women. Is this dialogue female PC-specific?

Everyone seemed out of character to me... the more I think about it the more I am going to simply pretend it was a trip to the Fade and it was all just....well.... the Fade. I know logically it is not, and frankly I think my character does as well lol but I simply .... it isn't them. All of it. No, just no. I can handle a difficult puzzle, and a tragic ending just fine, but when the characters become caricatures of themselves, or that far adrift from what they have shown to that point, i have trouble. :( *IF* and its a big bloated 'if', they had some explanation then maybe it could have all been tied in to make sense.

I am on my way to play it through again to see if my first reactions are the delusional bedfellows of my exhaustion from playing it when i should have been sleeping last night :)

Zevran saying he prefers females is not female specific

yes he says he prefers the curves of a woman but he isnt going to deny any one just because of society (or along those line) as a guy

also no comment on being intrigued by tight leather clothing? thats sad I generally got a laugh out of that line since it looked like he was trying to deflect the question with humor like alistair would

No, not at all.  It's a very serious discussion when done with a female, and one where he seems he is laying all the cards on the table, for better or worse, and the warden has to choose whether to accept him or not.

Edit: On the female side, it also sounds like a turning point for him.  He talks about being on a new path, but that of all the things he's done, whom he's slept with is the least of his regrets.

the male version only starts with him seeming like its joking and trying to deflect the question but after that comment he does get serious about it

Ill see if I can get the dialogue when I get the conversation...

Uhm... I never got this dialogue, then. It seems strange to me, because I'm pretty sure to have exhausted every possible option with Zevran. When is this dialogue supposed to happen, again? I'd like to try it out for the sake of completion ^_^

It's when the PC says (at least for a female PC) "I'm guessing you've had experience with many women" or something like that.  This leads into a discussion of how he has not only slept with women and he says "do I prefer women?  yes I believe I do".  Although I've never seen the line about a woman's curves myself.  I would like to know where that comes up!

Then I guess that it's female-specific, because, during that dialogue, my male Warden could only say: "Have you ever known that...?" [you're attracted to men], to which Zev initially responds with a joke and then, suddenly serious, explain that he likes both men and women alike and that his only rule about sex is that it's done well.

Though I know it's not really designed as such, that particular conversation is what I mark as the beginning of the romance, whether they were having sex before then or not. It's so raw, and right there the warden has to choose if she will accept him or not. But after a discussion like that, there is no way what between them is casual, even if the sex is just a pleasant diversion as he puts it later. I think his feelings were real for the PC at that point, even if sex wasn't an expression of it until later.

You have to be at minimum Care with him. Ask him to discuss something personal. Go for the option "You must have quite a history. With women, I mean."

Ok well thanks (not facetiously, really) for the clue-in that Zevran had disturbing things to say in Ostagar. I decided not to bring him and I'm glad, because my PC is at a stage where she is beginning to trust and like him and she would have been really, really put out at either levity or questioning them on what to do about the body of their king and Alistair's brother. She was put out enough by Wynne going cougar on Alistair at one point (bleccch! really could have done without that!)

As an aside, I believe it was here I said I play on Easy because I mostly cared about the story- didn't realize til we tried to load RtO that there was a patch that made Easy easier. I think we'll be playing on Normal from now on!

You should play on the level you enjoy most.  Does RtO give you an error or something if you play it on easy?  Or did it make it easier?  I like having to stop and pause and position, but once your resists are high, I don't find too much of a difference between any of the levels.  I do play the fade on easy just to get through it (I hate not having my party with me, and would rather go through that part in a half hour than two hours).  Otherwise, there just isn't much of a difference between normal and nightmare, but I like the challenge of friendly fire and needing to build resists for the melee characters.

I found RtO incredibly easy, even with just Zevran and the PC, but I noticed that Zev was often hitting for over 100, sometimes over 110, so I think it only scales so high.  My PC was also often hitting in the 90s (DW warrior).  It would probably be a fun challenge at the beginning of the game, but at over level 20, it was trivial.

It just won't let you load RtO at all with an unpatched game. We hadn't had any technical difficulty with the game at all (compared to Fallout 3 GOTY and the whole Windows Live crapola it was a dream) so I saw no reason to patch. But, in order to play the extensions I'll put up with a shorter Cone of Cold. I don't like combat to be a complete cakewalk, however, and yes the combat in RtO seemed very easy. I guess we'll see. We're off to the Deep Roads next so I'll soon know how easy Easy is.

Are you using some improving-dialogue mods? Or a mod that ignore the gender checks? Because I just tried every possible combination in that dialogue(s)*, and no, Zev says nothing like that sentence I can see in your screenshot.

* I tried both the dialogue "Have you always been..." and the dialogue when Zev calls the male Warden handsome.

Oh, that's completely different than the female version.

In the female version, he says something like this:

Zevran: Do I prefer women?  Yes, yes I think I do.  But you must understand that a certain openmindedness is required by the Crows, for obvious reasons.

Hmmm, the female equivalent to that selection (slightly different, but close enough) gives a very different response as well.  I need to play a male character just to see the differences.  Because it sounds like Zevran and a male PC relate in a whole different way.  Which makes a lot of sense.

and I should try it with a female since both my female runs had them falling for alistair (which i find rather amusing since I like zevran more but im guessing its because I cant romance alistair as a guy)

You were right. Somehow, I always discarded the define openmindness option. Now that I've seen this option I think is pretty nice for Zevran to say something like that. It's an important statement, almost a political one and I like this libertarian view for sure. And, also, it makes even more poignant the feeling that develops between Zev and a male Warden.

@ ejoslin: let's make a deal :D When you'll try the Male Warden, I'll try the Female one :P

Heh, I did a male playthrough. Leliana and Morrigan and various female NPCs were always throwing themselves at the Warden, and poor guy was always in trouble with SOMEONE and getting yelled at. I asked my husband if women really WERE that confusing to guys, and he said, "Well, yes." It was funny, but it gave me a new sympathy towards guys for sure.

Edit: Unfortunately, I did rush through that playthrough, so missed a lot.  It was basically to get the Morrigan and Leliana trophies, plus to unlock reaver and blood mage.

as much as I love Claudia blacks voice not even her acting could stop me from cringing at the "its cold in my tent" she uses to want to get you in the sack

and leliena... well iv already commented on what i think of her in this topic (unlike Morrigan I still cant get her to NOT fall in love with my blatantly gay characters)

Zevrans massage talk>>>>>>>>Leliena trying to lure me into bed with pudding and that abomination of a come on Morrigan gives you
