I love how silly Zevran is. He's a good counter to many of the other companions, as he pretty much takes their seriousness and chucks it out the window. I like being around people who make me laugh, especially when it's blatantly joking, good-natured flirtation (which it seems obvious that it is to me--but then I guess my friends tend to be that way, too...).

Yes, exactly. He lightens the mood, even (usually) when you or others are a total ass to him.

And after reading Jenovan's latest post, I'm convinced that they must have kept Zev out of Awakening to keep it dark and dreary. Clearly, Zev would have made it too fun.

Edit: Top of the page needs a dwarf kiss.

In these mods, do you get voice acting with them too? I'm not bothered if you don't, just curious is all.

What I find amazing about that dialogue is that he was meant to tell a friend that he would quite literally do anything at all for him/her.  My first character ended up with him and I really loved the interaction, but it was my silly mage who was just friends with him the entire game who convinced me just what a wonderful character he was.  All of the other love interests have much shallower interactions with a PC they are not involved with.  Zev's interactions with a friend are just as deep and he is just as committed, even if you never even flirt with him.

I actually found Morrigan's Friendly gates conversation with my elf really touching, too... she's another one who could be easily written off (as a mean **** rather than a letch), but somehow people seem to get to know her with little problem, unlike Zevran... wonder why that is...

Agreed.  She was another very pleasant surprise for me.  None of your companions are truly *evil*.  Several are more of the people-should-take-care-of-themselves/pragmatic bent, but even Morrigan isn't going to go kick puppies for fun.  Well, Allistair, but he can sort-of defend himself. :P

Ohh, that is so true, Sami Jo. My dalish (Morrigan-romancing, in for a shock) 2h warrior turned both other romances off right at the beginning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Leliana behaves, but Zevran was easy as pie. It took a few mouse-clicks, and Zevran was on the friend track. No approval loss, nothing of the sort. I've never tried the 'friend only' track with him, and thought my dalish would be perfect for that.

I turned his romance off because I really want to concentrate on the Morrigan romance and not be side-tracked and ending up with Zevran after all. I turned Leliana's off, because... well, it's Leliana. My dalish never exchanged a single flirt with Zevran, and he also hasn't given him any gifts at all. He simply talked to him, was polite and friendly, even though he disagreed with Zevran on quite a few points. However, they are in the 30ish range, and they've not even completed one major quest yet.

Yes, you can be rude to him, but honestly, why would you tell someone you just met that "You smell a cesspool and you think of home?" That's very rude imo. I'd never say that to a new acquaintance IRL. Most of the PC responses can be polite, which is the way most people likely interact with each other.

Why would my PC(s) be all moral judges when they know that he was a hired sword? It's a bit late to get all self-righteous at that point.

I just fixed bugs.  This is stuff that was meant to be in the game and got screwed up.

Edit: At the gates, all I did was fix the scripts so that the proper dialog triggers.  Charsen is creating some custom kisses, but the notes say there's supposed to be a kiss goodbye in there.  He's just making that MUCH better than the default kiss (he is SO talented and amazing).  I also included fixes to some bugs in Alistair's endgame dialogs, the city alienage bug, etc etc etc.  I added nothing to the game, and didn't change the lore at all.

I'm probably about to be ninja'd, but.. all Ejoslin did was get the dialogues to fire correctly.  All the VA was there, it was just that the wrong dialogue options were firing.  She took on the herculean task of fixing BW sloppy coding.

Edit:  I knew it!  Ninja'd!  But this is why we love Ejoslin and Charsen so much :wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

I was thinking of things like "Oho! Well, if a racist crack like that doesn't cajole me
into telling a tale, then nothing will!"

..and he actually has an interesting response if you chose that cesspool option. I'm not sure that you lose approval over it, either. But I'm too lazy to look in the toolset to find out.

Edit: But I agree with you, Sabriana. I'm sometimes surprised at how much of a jerk you can be to people. It's like they have a whole set of dialogue options catered to 12 year olds.

The tools aren't available.  Even so, I am not very inspired by Awakening.  I played it once, I may play it again some time.

Edit: Since I'm not playing it, I'm not bothered by the bugs!  If BW hires me, I may take a look at it, though.

Yes you do!  Hidden actual Zevran voiced dialogue... it's almost too good to be true.  Posted Image

Speaking of new Zevran, on my Aedan character I got a line in the Dalish camp last night that I don't think I've ever heard him say before.  Nothing revolutionary, it's one of those commentary lines that NPCs say when you enter a new area.  Something like "My mother was Dalish.  They are a proud people, who would not lose their independence."

I am so sure that my answer to this is going to be ninja'ed...

I can't believe I'm posting this after the fanfiction discussion, but here's what I wrote, after RTO was mentioned earlier today.  It seemed to get censored on the blog here, so I've put it on Livejournal for now.   I'm not sure if it really counts as fanfiction so I haven't put it on fanfiction.net yet.   It's not the sort of stuff you guys write - I couldn't do that.  It's just a bit of silliness.  I've put a warning at the top.

ETA: It's a Zevran/Sten/Wynne/Morrigan pairing - pairing?  Fouring?  Just to warn you, in case you don't want to look.

ETA 2: Possibly NSFW, depending on where you work.

Haha, I love it! Here's hoping some Awakening DLC really will have him in it. Yes, I am getting my hopes up for once!

And so true--other companions can be downright rude to him, but he brushes it aside with class (or, well, his own style of class...). The fact he holds his head high no matter what--even if others look down on him, and even if they view him as crude--is highly endearing.

Eh, my HN used that on him. She really was closed-minded and arrogant at first. Yet she still managed to keep him through Taliesan, and they were great friends at the end. He managed to sway her on a lot of things, and he was a great counter to her often hard-headed ways.

Yes, the buff, confident, joking, and flirtatious guy archetype is often found in the published smut romance section of the book store (or, ya know, amazon.com). So apparently we aren't the only ones that think he's an endearing (and attractive) type...

I really puzzled over this because I have no clue as to what  Ninja'd means either...

did you want to say:

It's when someone has already gotten a reply off that says the same thing you are  saying. ...  ?

(that would be a complete and understandable sentence)
