Jenovan has a link to her forum thread on her story in her signature. It's called Well-Woven Net.

Mine is now 70 frickin' pages long (double-spaced) and still not done. . . I'm actually wondering if I should put in my PC's point of view as well, right now it's totally from Zevran's point of view. I should wrap up the first couple chapters and post them.

Time for a screenshot.  If my PC could see him gazing at her this intently, she would swoon into the Chantry well she just dumped a body into.  LOL

Looks to me as if he's looking at something to the far right (our left) and not the warden. ;)

I picked Zevran over the others because there's more to him than meets the eye. He falls in love with my character when he has never really done that with anybody else before (apart from Rinna)... And he stands by me no matter what. His past isn't the most rosy you'd hope from a boyfriend, but he was also a Crow and some of the things he was expected to do because of his work, not because he just wanted to hump everybody. He came to enjoy the kind of like and adapted, making most of it. I can appreciate an attitude like that.

With the other options being Alistair, a whiny boy who cannot make up his mind, or Leliana who somehow seems kind of severed from reality with her fantasies of eternal, everlasting love... Zevran seems like the most level headed and practical of the three. That's just what I happened to fancy.

Beyond them there is a high stone wall.  Trust me, he's looking at her.  Posted Image

You know, I have him in my party as soon as I get him, and I've never noticed that before. I don't know if that's incredibly sweet or just a bit creepy. ;)

it can be mildly creepy if you have a modded Zev with glowy eyes, at least.  Posted Image

Hee, I just finished Orzammar last night (... stayed up til 2 AM to do so, bad me!), and it was definitely interesting to have to argue with Zevran at some points.  Thank goodness for Master Coercion ;)  It's hard to believe that he'd be the only party member with opinions on the huge issues going on here, but as has been mentioned before, he seems to be the only one willing to stand up to the PC and argue about them...

His commenting on Harrowmont makes a lot of sense given his background in the Crows, I think -- the Crows are bound up in the Antivan nobility, and he probably is pretty familiar with politics.  But about the Anvil?... My party was Zev, Oghren and Wynne, and only Zevran was willing to speak up about it?? I got a bigger disapproval from Oghren than from Zevran for that, And a big approval from Wynne...  Thanks for the input, guys. ;P

Well, other NPCs will do that, too. Sten will look at the PC when you're stopped somewhere, and I know Alistair does it too. It was just a happy accident of romantic fancy in that particular screenshot with Zevran. ;)

Well, Branka IS Oghren's wife whom he's been trying to get to for the past couple of years.  Making him kill her is beyond cruel.  I always side against Caridin, but there is a third option and that is convincing Branka that the anvil itself is evil and convincing her to destroy it.  If Wynne is in your party you will still get massive disapproval, which is why I don't take her there (or Shale).

The anvil is not as clear cut as it seems.  Orzammar is dying.  They can't reproduce quickly enough to make up for the soldiers they're losing due to the darkspawn.  Zevran may comment earlier in the city that in 100 years only surface dwarves will be left. 1 golem = 50 dwarves, so by keeping it you are potentially saving many many lives by sacrificing a few, and saving Orzammar and striking a huge blow against the darkspawn to boot.

Edit: The worst part about the anvil, really, is the potential for abuse.  If it is used the way Branka invisions it, it is Orzammar's salvation.  Of course, most kings would want to use it in other ways.

Well, they're only dying because they're bottom heavy with unemployable Casteless. You stick Bhelen on the throne, which Zev hints at being a better idea than Harrowmont, the dwarves start gaining ground and population due to the Casteless reforms.

Branka kidnaps surface dwarves and humans for her Anvil later on, I've read, so even then she abuses it.

Of course, but now you're metagaming.  I was giving an explanation why Zevran may disapprove so strongly to the anvil being destroyed given the information that the characters actually have.  And also, why the anvil is not cut-and-dry the evil choice.

Only if you make Harrowmont king.

Edit: Without knowing outcomes, there are compelling reasons to keep the Anvil.  Sten has some interesting things to say there as well.  Of course it has a huge potential for abuse. Bhelen at least sees that.

While I myself always side with Caridin, I'm planning to build a very pragmatic character to preserve the Anvil. Indeed, Branka is as mad as a horse, paranoid and obsessed, certainly dangerous, but her view is very down-to-earth and indeed even a single battle golem (see "The Stolen Throne" for comparison with the not-already-shrinked Shale) could be an extremely powerful ally for the slowly dying dwarves. I really appreciated what Zev has to say about the Anvil (him and Wynne, actually), and both of them made excellent points. Definitely one of the most intriguing decisions of the game.

I'm always amazed that people gloss over the fact that Branka and Oghren are married and her disappearance has ruined his life. All he wants is to find her and be reunited with her; making him kill her in those circumstances, while I understand why, should not surprise anyone that he disapproves so strongly. I'm surprised it's not stronger, in truth.

if there wasn't the third option of having Branka destroy the anvil, the choice would be far more difficult for me.

Actually no, I came to that conclusion on my own my first play through.

I destroy it.  For one, I don't want to kill Shale.  And I like her personal quest, which you get only if she talks to Carridin.  For another, I see nothing in dwarven society that indicates they can handle the power and responsibility.

Well, yes, Oghren disapproving of killing his wife makes sense (although, oddly enough, I got those handful of points back after the quest finished.  Maybe he's glad that the monarchy BS is over?).  I didn't run into any info about the dwarven population decline (...I admit I don't read every codex entry when I get it *ducks*), so I wasn't aware of that situation, but my PC was far too wary of the Anvil being abused.  I suppose it's an argument of ends and means at that point.

I had no idea you could convince Branka to destroy it, though... she seemed pretty set. ;P  But my PC thought her mad at that point , anyway, because of the things she had done to get to the Anvil Posted Image

Ah, well. XD;  On the bright side... looks like we'll be meeting Taliesen tonight Posted Image

Yes, you can convince her so I'd say she's not beyond redemption (even if destroying the Anvil hardly makes up for all the suffering she has caused over the years, both to Ogren and Hespith, and of course her entire house).

Good luck with Taliesin! :police:

I convince Branka to destroy it.  I don't take Shale with me, and you can lie to Shale later about it.  And you do get her personal quest anyway.

You can get Shale's personal quest without bringing her to Caridin.  Just talk to her in camp, she asks about Caridin, and then if you take her with you to the Deep Roads she will remember her former thaig and mark it on your map.

As for siding with Branka, my characters usually can't see past Branka's madness and that horrible codex about molten lyrium being poured into unwilling participants' eyes.  Which is why I would think Zevran would also respond to the line "the Anvil enslaves living souls and must be destroyed."  Sometimes I think the approval system is gamed for balance purposes rather than in-character reasoning.

To me, I found out Zevran was a romatic option by mistake, my first playthrough and I was bedding Morrigan. Later on this Elf!! Which aren't really compatible with the dwarven race in most ways you know, started to make comments towards me which I found odd. So I replied back without meaning anything. Next thing I know I am in bed with him. Later on I felt dirty...disgusting..and then I sorta liked it. Up until the end credits. Seems that not only is Zevran a sort of Shemale but s/he turns you into one as well! Shagin was for all I know a manly dwarf...up until that bastard elf came along that is....

Small sidetrack for Oghren: as far as killing his wife... She killed his family. His entire house, his family, joined her new house when she was made Paragon. She betrayed him first. She left him and took up with what was probably his cousin, and then allowed them all to be killed or turned into broodmothers and darkspawn. (There were more women in that house. We just saw ONE Broodmother.) Oghren may disapprove, but it's not a lot and Branka's just one of those people that needs killing.

Zevran may disapprove of destroying the Anvil, but just like I don't take everything Al disapproves of to heart, I don't really care. I don't require my pixilated followers to agree with every decision I make. I can always imagine the argument and the making up back at camp. ;)

Glad I can get her quest some other way.  I'd prefer to bring a different party than being forced to have Oghren AND Shale.

You know, it's an interesting point that someone who cannot stand to see Ruck suffering the way he does would be ok with the molten lava does strike me as a balance issue as well. Zevran and Morrigan seem to have similar approval and disapproval, though Morrigan strikes me as far more selfish and unable to see the bigger picture. However, with Zevran, since he is basically a character who does see the bigger picture and also may be the least selfish of the companions (oddly), if you had his approval always based on what you'd think it was, why would anyone put weight on Alistair's approval? I'm not sure I worded that well.

With Branka, she is mad (and Sten points that out to you, he says to you, "Her excuse is she's mad. What's yours?" I love him much). But you are able to get through to her, and she seeks her own redemption as well. I've only actually saved the anvil twice just to see how Bhelen and Harrowmont treated it.
