I lost a year of my life to EQ2... I was on the Freeport side though on Nagafen pvp. It was fun.

Edit: I should have known that this would have ended up top of the page.  I don't mind!

I understood when you were talking about.  Zevran gives approval when you ask him, even when he refuses you.  Even when he yells.  That's an approval gain.

Hm, I probably haven't noticed this because I already had him at 100.  I wish they would show you approval gains even after the NPC hits 100, just so you could see them... like, the scale doesn't move, but you still get the "Zevran approves" pop up.

Yeh, you are far better at pacing out the conversations than I am.  So usually I'm not quite at 100 at that point, depending on how harshly my character turned down the earring. :crying:

Edit: Another interesting fun fact.  If you haven't been to the tent with him at that point and ask him and push the issue, you get even higher approval.

Ah I had the serendipity today of loading Daiya, my Avatar, up after not playing her for 3 days, and immediately clicked on Zevran. I got the poetry reading again.:wub:

And is it just me, but I keep getting the feeling he was trying to call the pc out in a way, whenever he recites it? To get them to shoot him down.

hmmm... you would be a PvPer EJ, hehe, tough as nails *in a nice way*

but MMOs are pretty blah after a while. No mods, no custom content, little roleplay, overall a timesink. yugg.

Because I still can't find my way around the toolset, I played that little bit again. I couldn't get him to lose approval no matter how many times I asked him to the tent, and he never yelled at me for asking. I played about with his approval by using a feast onion, but still no approval loss.

Refusing the tent came after him promising to stay until death (and also after his previous approval), so it just didn't feel the same as Alistair's at all. In fact, it just makes me feel more loving. By the time he explains why he refused, I've melted into a pile of goo.

It doesn't feel like a rejection. I suppose Alistair is saying he'd sleep with you if he felt more for you, whereas Zevran might sleep with you if he felt less for you. I can't buy Alistair's refusal as showing respect. He sleeps with you anyway, later, and surely doesn't disrespect you because of it. At least, I hope not. That would make it even worse!

I didn't know Alistair's refusal dropped if you refused. I will have to try that out. What a cheek! At least he gets to know what it feels like!

I agree that it would be good if you could see the approval raises even when the approval is at 100. It was interesting playing it out at lower approval and seeing the differences. He really approves if you accept the earring, and really disapproves if you try to give it back (not to get into that again, but it was just interesting to see that - you don't see the approval at 100.)

WoW has plenty of mods. None like yours, but for a mod **** like me it was easy to waste time finding new quickbar mods and inventory mods and interface mods and... lots of exciting things. Posted Image

Edited to say I haven't played WoW in years, so don't give me that look.

Ugra is my hero, you don't even understand. She has been through so much, and still retained her pride and dignity. I only wish more people could be as beautiful and strong as she. Posted Image

I didn't say that Zevran gives an approval loss, only that he yells at you.  I'm looking at it more from a story perspective.  To me, his yelling (and Morrigan's, which is pretty harsh as well) feels pretty hurtful.  Of course, your PC could see through it and understand a bit of what's going on, but if I chose to see it as negatively as you seem to want to interpret Ali's refusal, you could say that your PC and Zevran just had a deep discussion about your friendship and are closer than you've ever been, but suddenly he's telling you that you shouldn't be focusing on him and he doesn't even want to talk to you about why.  It's a big WTF moment.  Or that's how I see it.

Allistair fangirls (not anyone here- the rabid variety), are...very rabid.  I didn't realize it was insulting to their true love to point out that it isn't necessary to sleep with Zev for him to fall in love with you.  *is confused and backing slowly away from the crazy girls*

Lol! Only Alistair could be kind and caring and a girl's one true love! Not like that slimeball! Alistair's love is deeper than oceans and wider than the horizon and more wondrous than all the wonders in heaven!

@Charsen many people on Nagafen were either gnome or ratonga -- smaller models, dontcha know. I had a half elf warden/scribe (for raiding, so max level) and a level locked dark elf defiler/max level armorer, until PVPers could no longer lock their levels.

It doesn't take being tough being on a PVP server, but it does take having a thick skin!

My level locked guild (we were all in our teens with much AA, and we made sure to level together when we had to) were the Pirates of Nagafen. Awesome group! I don't miss EQ2, but I do miss my guilds at times :(
