See, I'm not sure I like being associated with explicit writing.  That makes me kind of uncomfortable.

I apologize. It wasn't my intent to imply that - it was more of my own ineloquent way to compliment you, being able to write something that was "good sexytimes" that fits in so well with your own amazing story. Maybe I should go back on Zevran thread probation.

No, it's not just you.  I wrote it, and I'm not going to disown it, but that's something I started working on in February, maybe?  My first truly explicit sex scene.  So this is kind of weird and new, and ever so slightly embarassing.  Thank you for the compliment, anyway.

There's a part in one of my still mostly unwritten chapters (still just an outline and a bit of dialogue) where I wrote "Blah blah sexy stuff" as an indication of where it should go, so I can probably use the advice.

I've done that! ...And then the almost-sexy-times didn't happen because the characters didn't get there, or it happened five chapters later when suddenly A was reaaaally close to B for some unrelated reason, and B realized they kinda liked it.

Only advice I can think off the top of my head is don't script it too closely, and I think you'll do fine. :D

But that's me on my soap box. I totally want to write a hot and heavy lead-up now and then have "Blah blah sexy stuff" as the last line, but I'm a bad person and would be laughing too hard to run from the rage that would ensue. I inflict UST (Unresolved Sexual Tension) on folks in fanfic enough, it seems.

Pimping this thread on the Zevran LJ community in my two seconds of free time. Come play with us, kids!

I'd maybe throw my had into the ring if I knew more about fan fiction. I've had to look up some of the abbreviations people use (sorry, what can I say, novice) and some I still don't know. That and I don't know that I wouldn't end up wanting to cannibalize something I wrote for someone else for something I was writing.

Also, thanks Liberator, for the links about sexy times. My NSFW stuff is tame compared to what I've read (Tell, looking at you here, bud or Trax - who I don't think posts here) or seen (Charsen/Cuddle, yes you two). There's a part in one of my still mostly unwritten chapters (still just an outline and a bit of dialogue) where I wrote "Blah blah sexy stuff" as an indication of where it should go, so I can probably use the advice.

I haven't managed to get to anything of yours other than your DAO fanfics, but all of the explicit stuff has been well done and in context, not nookie for the sake of...well...reader happy fun times :P

There is a difference between something that is explicit and in context and something that is just explicit.  Nothing wrong with explicit for explicit sake, but that isn't what I've read of yours thus far.  In fact, a lack of sex would have seemed weird in what you have written.  It would be ooc.

Mmmm-- For Ever on ff.net, in this very fandom comes to mind.

Creepy cullen is creepy.

fffffffffffffffffffffffff-

Ugh that fic, and another fic is using rape to put the PC and Cullen closer too. I am sorry, I know rape happens in real life, but to use it to push a character into a romance with anothermakes me rage beyond belief. It's a disgusting and sad excuse for a plot device, I am so sick of reading fics like that. Next we will have the "rape is love" fics making a comeback.

*No offense to anyone here that has written one of those, if you have, but personally I can't read them.

There are one or two really good Cullen fics on FF.net, Crisium comes to mind, but

Cullen needs more good fanfics, the poor guy. He's actually nice before the blood-mages have their way with him. :/

Nothing wrong with that! In defense of the folks who write the dubcon though, written =/= at all real life.

In real life, safety words first!

Trax does not post much anywhere. To pin her down, you have to go hunting... and send her gushingly loving PMs until she starts using your plots. :D

And I'm happy to link to those two posts anywhere, they've helped me significantly in my writing.

Here are my thoughts on
noncon/dubcon!

If done well in fanfic, it's good. If done poorly
in fanfic, it's bad. Lit does it well! I can't say nothing about manga,
not being a fan of it, and I shall await the pitchforks and torches over
there. ;D

Thank you. Dub/non-con is my ... niche? Maybe? So, I'm glad it works for you.

And there are points when I wholeheartedly agree, non-con should not be a romantic plot point, and dubcon should be DUBIOUS, not poorly written D/s or whatever.

But in general, that's really my kind of fic. I like the comfort to be angsty and "don't touch me!" so non-con is my "hurt" of choice for that.

Three cheers for that sentiment.  It doesn't bother me when it comes up in fic as something that is impacting a character's current life or relationship (recent chapter of Tell's work for example), but otherwise it bothers me.  I'm certainly not going to push my views on others, but yeah, it bothers me.

In real life, bottoms actually top. In fiction, you don't have to have that distinction. "No" is a bad safety word for play, but that's a whole different topic!

And please keep Cullen away from my underwear drawer!

Edit: Quick, we need some Zevran thighs!

Really? I usually used "flamingo". That let me say no as much as I wanted without it being no!

Er, that is. :bandit: HEY LOOK OVER THERE, SOMETHING SHINY.

I meant no offense to you Literator, but when I read that "For Ever" fic, that rape scene came out of nowhere, and it seems its only a plot device for the character to be "damaged goods" that Cullen can heal and save. I stopped reading the fic after that.

Sorry for bringing this whole thing back up, but that fic really upset me she had no warnings up until after someone chewed her out, rightfully so, in her reviews. When I used to read "Harry Potter" slash fan fiction, that was the favorite plot device of the authors to push the character toward the love interest.

Again its no offense to those of you who write Dub-con/non-con, that actually is that, with all warnings included. I don't read those fics for my own reasons and its nothing to do with the authors, I just can't read them.

But that little **** that wrote "For Ever" with have my ire for eternity.

Ok this is the last I'll post of it, because this is a Zevran thread so here is a zevran pic.

 Ok, unless it's previously mutually agreed upon that "no" is not the safety word, "no" is the universal safety word.

Have you ever gotten the "You'll just have to beat it out of me. Creatively." line from Zevran? It's when you kind of dither as a man asking him to the tent.

I get the strong feeling that Zev knows all about safety words.

Oh, I take no offense, beyond at first you seemed to be generalizing all non-con fic to be like that, which, you know, included my fic.

But I totally respect your decision not to read such fic.

And a friend of mine was trying to help that author do better, but I think she's just beyond hope. :D

Haha! And I had the GREATEST discussion about that with Trax the other night. He wouldn't do anythingwithout safe-words and knowing he'd be able to get out of any bondage involved. He NEVER loses control, the little fiend.

His issues... all of them. **holds them close to my bosom**
