Uf, catched up the thread!

Oh I leave for one day and see what have you done - more than 30 pages, including the hellride of 666.
But I love you all, all with the controversy, lulz, tights, kneepads and naked DA boys :3

And there is preview of FE gates hug/kiss. I will so test that *jumps around* I would even bake for some more preview screenshots!

I really dislike mushy romance stuff, but I really enjoy writing tense or strongly emotional sequences.  Zevran's difficulty in accepting what he feels makes it more acceptable for me to write--it's not all carebears spooging rainbows that way.

On the topic of sue/stu in fics, I'm very afraid that Cadryn comes off as such.  The Warden is such a powerful character at the end of the game that it's hard to write them at that point without drifting dangerously close, I feel.

Surprisingly, as I work on "Nations and Ages", I find it easier to avoid the stu syndrome, since I can't imagine any non-evil Warden surviving Awakening without being broken in some fashion.

Was once used by a friend of mine to describe Blue Rose, which is a tabletop RPG.  And, if you're not taking "romantic" in the literary sense, it's pretty much accurate.

Oh grrr. I find those people trying to get clicks for their bizarre bazaar utterly annoying. I make it a point never, ever to click on those, unless the poster asks for help.

There is actually a poster called "Demon Girl (or something like that)" who tries to *trick* people into clicking that crap with utterly transparent sentences. Do these people think we are that dense? How old is that child, anyway?

I hope with all my heart that those people get what they deserve. Namely ignored.

Anyway, to keep it on Zevran (and I'm not elaborating what I wish to keep on Zevran, hehe)

I usually don't read fanfic in general because of that crap. I've gotten into the habit to just glance over them, but 'Immovable' caught my eyes, because of its unique beginnings.Your Alley is actually the antidote to mary sue. As a matter of fact, I'd pay to see her beat mary sue into a pulp, hehe.
Hah, and I resolved to never touch WIP. I've broken that 'vow' repeatedly because of the writers here. I still have to catch up with 'Duster'. It seems that Soignee wrote a lot in the last few days.

Alley's beaten up a few sues and stus, just unfortunatly never on camera that I remember. *g* I used to tell myself that at least one of her NPC students off-camera was that, and that she used them for demonstration a lot. (She's often a defense instructor / weaponsmaster, captain of the guard, head of security, etc.)

Any romance at all is mushy to me, as far as my embarassment about writing it goes. I've heard TAF called "dark romance", since it's a warped little thing (as it should be, with Raistlin Majere involved), and that made me feel a little better, but... I'm such a cynical @#$% about that stuff in real life that being caught dead writing any of it is taking some serious getting used to.

On the other hand, because I'm such a cynical @#$% about it, I'll probably never write the perfect puppies and rainbows and unicorns romance. Unless it's a parody one-shot, and then someone dies gruesomely at the end, and bonus points if it gets gore all over the other person. I've talked about doing exactly that in the Skies of Arcadia fandom, though I never got around to doing it.

The entire concept being alien to Alleyana is helping me somewhat in this fic. I'm doing it because she's never been in anything romance-like, though she did come close once in one of the roleplay games she was in. Otherwise, it would be terribly easy to leave things in the "friendship" track and move on, and leave the "mushy" stuff to the experts at writing it, or do them as disconnected one-shots with a random nameless Warden (since I do have some ideas that involve a romance being "on").

...Damn I'm rambly at this hour.

Ha! This is true. Alley doesn't realize she's in a romance yet, she just knows the little bouts with Zevran take the edge off. In part because he can actually handle himself, and doesn't whine like a pansy if she gets a good shot in, and he doesn't stupidly hold back from getting his own good shots in. She digs that; the one guy who showed up briefly on her radar on the Pern game was because he handled himself really well when she sicced her current batch of in-training guards on him. (She told them to either aprehend the greenrider observing them within ten minutes, or, *slaps stick in palm* she was going to aprehend them. They closed in on him pretty fast.)

She's pretty aggravated that I'm putting her in a romance of any kind, after about fifteen real-life years of the character existing as such. But at least I'm throwing her at a fantastic guy for it, eh? There's worse fates!

I'm really not sure how she'll deal with it, it's not a side I've dug into on her before.

That Warden's not nearly hatchet-faced enough. Plus, Alley's hair is looooong. I've only described it in this fic as braided and looped up into a close-laying bun, but--



--yeah. Oh god, I'm talking about Alley's hair. And psycho-analyzing my OCs where many eyes will glaze over upon seeing it. I probably should stop before I totally wear out my welcome, lol.

I'll correct myself: the Warden in that pic is not particularly beautiful (what you want in 40 minutes?), but maybe she has some other traits that make Zev approve :3

Yeah, but I'm still not pleased with it, and it was twenty or so hours of work IIRC.

There's only two pictures of mine I like. One is

...which was over sixty hours, and the other is the most recent version of that same blond guy in that other picture, Alleyana's little half-brother Tannusen:

...which was 18.5 hours.

And yeah. MS Paint all the way. This is why I only do art like once a year or so. =_=

I keep getting tempted to do a Zev portrait, but he has a ton of amazing fanart out there and I try to stick to OCs and obscure fandoms for this. It's just a disgusting amount of time to put into MS Paint.

Noooo, no, that thing is practically a meme! Not my writing, but awesome to reference. XDD T'nnusen's bronze firelizard was based off Legolas (I didn't make the lizard, I just named him and then roleplayed him), so I made lots of "still the prettiest" jokes when writing him, and still had that bookmarked. XD

Isn't it awesome though? I don't even know LotR and it makes me lol.

Especially for a 40 minute picture, I like it. But even if it wasn't a 40 minute picture, I like it. Very peaceful and serene, and you do hair way better than I do. Zev's loose-up-top braids are a nice touch. *grins* Very chill and relaxed.

Edit: Bah, two posts from me in a row? Maybe I need less tea and more sleep. But alas, can't do that yet, so tea it is.

It's awesome alright. Sums up the trilogy quite nicely. I should have read that, it would have spared me the movies. The books are a bit better, but to be honest, Tolkien never really grabbed me. They are good books on the whole, but still....

I like your pictures a lot. I do love the first one, it should be viewed full size. No wonder it took you so long. I can just bet you poured over every detail for hours. Especially the hands. I don't know from experience but I've often heard that hands are the devil to draw right. Amberdrake's hands are perfect.

Tannusen is a bit scary while managing to look innocent at the same time.

I really need to snoop around Deviant Art some more.

Hands aren't that bad, I have a pair right here I can look at for reference, lol. Drake's facial-structure and skin-tone gave me fits, I had every canon image I could get of him plastered off to the right while I nudged his nose this way or his eyebrow that way and tweaked the colors one by one. Nightmare. Now the damn thing looks so simple, but. Oh, and Skan's feathers. God, Skan's feathers. But yeah, over sixty hours means everything took forever. The hand itself wasn't bad, but the shading had a few false starts.

When I first played Dragon Age, Zev reminded me pretty strongly of Tannu, so that's not a bad read on him. *g*

Poor Tannu needs another fanfic, I think. He doesn't even exist in Immovable Object, and I shot him full of holes and then blew him up in a face-off with a whole @#$%-load of assassins in a crypt in TAF. The unseelie tiger Pooka version in that artwork technically still exists, but the game he's on is kind of dead. You'd think I don't like the guy, but he's one of my favorite OCs! Maybe I should resume work on Silver Tongue and Golden Wit so he can at least get laid.
