Aww, Twilight seems such an easy target.

My son loved it when he was about 12. I don't want to knock it too much because it really seemed to catch his imagination at that age. (And also because I haven't read it myself). It might be badly written (and again, I haven't read it, and am no judge of writing anyway) but it does seem to strike a chord with certain people of a certain age.

He went straight from that to Orwell and Kafka, so it didn't seem to dumb down his reading.

And I accused him of writing his manifesto for the money. (I intentionally failed at the German for that part. It was punnier.)

I'm a little scared of you, to be honest. As someone who has read at least 5 pages of the books, the summary of the plot, and watched both movies (extremely drunkenly, but still not drunkenly enough), I can say that nothing about Twilight is a pleasant experience.
