I agree that it would be nice to have at least a cameo or some acknowledgement of the relationship, even if Zev will not be recruitable...

[Anyway. Beat the game for the second time. I chose to return with my Dalish clan with Zevran. Of course the epilogue slide botched the gender check, but this is only a very minor quibble. Loghain slayed the Archdemon.

Yay! :D]

Lol Andrea, it does that for female PC's to. When Zevran demands the female PC breaks up with Leliana, he says something in the line of: "You have to choose. I know how men are with their women, and I don't want to get in your way."

My PC and I were slightly startled. He's slept with her numerous times. You'd think he'd know that she's not a man

Maybe he's confused about Leliana?  I hate that too!

i'm still hoping, since the german preview page sounds pretty much like you get to choose. it's certainly just badly translated, but it keeps my spirits high=]

What? Where? I've been trying to find the German previews, but I've not found any that state something like that.
Great. Now what? Do I suddenly fail at google?

Edited to add:

Hey, that's a great idea. Perhaps that was a rip against Leliana. It might work. Why not?

take a look here. and, if you mind, tell me if i'm suddenly unable to comprehend, because imo it pretty much says you'll get YOUR fave.

edit: why doesn't copy/paste work? waaaah! and why isn't that clickable? dumb browser.

Why does the game have such difficulty remembering if you're male or female? I'd think it would be an easily accessed variable.

why is it that fans manage to fix up most of the dialogue bugs before bioware even manages to patch the game 3 times

Thanks Haerja. It really is confusing. Let me post the snippet, maybe other Germans can take a shot at it:

Die Entwickler von BioWare haben aber auch an die Fans gedacht, die
ihren Lieblingsgefährten in die nachfolgenden Abenteuer als
Unterstützung mitnehmen möchten. Ein schon bekanntes Mitglied aus dem
Hauptspiel kann daher ebenfalls rekrutiert werden.

I translate this as:

The developers at Bioware also thought of their fans who want to take their favorite companion into the next adventure as a  supporter.
Therefore an already known member from the OC can also be recruited.

Geesh. Can you get any more ambiguous? Or is it just late. It's 12:27 am here, after all. Maybe I'm tired. Or something.

"Their favorite" and not "one of their favorite"?  If so, that sounds quite promising.  Although I guess that would include Alistair for many (deluded :D) people, and I had supposed the canonical ending is he is king.

yeah, that's how i read it. thanks for your view, i'm not retarded:wizard:

anyways.... this could be translated badly. or some misunderstanding between divisions, which makes me wonder if they just let something slip they weren't meant to?
however, it makes the waiting more exciting:)

Nope, that certainly is open to interpretation (in any language lol)

It sure sounds like they are saying that you'll be able to recruit one from among your current companions, but I don't trust that. I think it could be a misreading of the original which says "one favorite from the original game..." Meaning, or so I interpret it pessimistically, that Bioware is going to decide for us who "the favorite" is. Since Alistair is definitely in the trailers, I am guessing it is one besides him. Zevran!!! Zevran!!! *ahem*

"ihren Lieblingsgefährten". Yep, that translates to "their favorite companion".

This is what the English page says:

Dragon Age: Origins : Awakening provides exciting new ways for players
to customise their heroes and party, including
the ability to re-spec
their character attributes, allowing even greater customisation and
replayability. Featuring an increased level cap, new spells, abilities,
specialisations and items, plus five all-new party members, players can
continue their adventures from Dragon Age, or begin with a brand new
party.

(bolded by me)

However, the same newspage also states:

New Ways to Customise your Hero: Experience additional spells, abilities, specialisations, and items to further personalise and customise your hero and party

- Import your character from Dragon Age: Origins or start anew as a Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais

- Encounter five all-new party members and an old favorite from Dragon Age: Origins

Note that there it says an old favorite, not their old favorite.

I say they're doing it on purpose. We fans are comedy gold for the bioware team. I bet they have running competitions at their office on who can bamboozle the fans in the best and funniest way.

kill killed it after the dragon killed me,my dog, Alistair and Morrigan had no mana or any mana potions left and to top it all off he used his "we are ridiculously awesome" after battle quote once he got off the things back also his equipment was utter trash beyond Duncans dagger

this was done at level 12 after I tainted the ashes, got the reaver spec and betrayed Kolgrim after getting what I wanted using the nightmare plus mod BTW before you ask how I had 5 party members I was using a mod that turns the dog into a summon

EDIT: I also got a dialogue tweaks question dialogue tweaks says it restores a nicer post sex dialogue if leave sleeping to him till after he has declared his love is it worth waiting for it?

Hmmm, about the Dialog tweaks, it depends.  Both the beginning and end are nicer, as in the vanilla game it's just the standard ones, which don't fit.  Worth it?  You're not getting a love declaration.  I actually like the different dialog in the vanilla game that happens when he's refusing to go to your tent more -- and of course that's still there.  The real problem with the ending of the dialog tweaks is the timing is a bit off.  It's worth it to see it, and it's definitely worth waiting even in the vanilla game at least once to see him trip his way explaining that he really does find you attractive, and how normally he wouldn't refuse blah blah blah.  He also gets more upset when you try to talk to him about it.

However, most games I don't wait!

And I love your screen shots.  Zevran always seems to get the killing blows on those dragons!

Iv had Zev kill the Archdemon once and thats it

I was incredibly lucky with that fight though it took me a few times to kill it since despite having taunt she liked to ignore alistair and use my character (my main damage dealer) as a chew toy

and if the fight lasted alittle longer I would have died :3

also nightmare plus made some of temple fights just down right brutal especially if there where mages involved

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but they've been 100% clear about the fact that you will notbe able to choose who the "returning companion" is. I can dig it up if you doubt me, but I've read it multiple times from the Bioware people that the returning companion has already been chosen and is set in stone. I know most people (myself included) were imagining returning to the palace (or something) and your companions are around you and some grey_warden_recruiter05 says, "We must send you to Amaranthine", and you turn to your friends, extend a hand and say, "<3Zevran, join me.<3" and he says, "<3Your wish is my desire.<3" and the planets align and white unicorns bound into the halls to carry you both off to new adventures (okay, maybe not unicorns, because ya, unicorns don't exactly mix well with non-virgins but you get the idea).

Now, I'm not saying it wouldn't have been GREAT if they'd done this (sans unicorns), but their argument was that it would simply be prohibitive to create multiple arcs that included every character combination that you might choose. So they picked one. Whether or not it could be Zevran is certainly open to debate and discussion but the prevalant feeling seems to be (about him specifically) is that he is the easist companion to kill or outright exclude from your group (those fools who did that, what do they know) and so he is also the least likely to have been chosen to return.

I'm sure (or at least I hope) that Bioware takes player feedback into consideration though and does not decide to randomly kill him off and thusly kill the romance. I felt the 'for a time' statement in the epilogue was a little more ominious at first as well, although I rarely choose rebuilding the Wardens just to ensure that Zevran and I stay together "in black and white" as it were. I've got my own little mental story now about what "for a time" means, and it works out very nicely. Too, heck, it could be foreshadowing your parting in Awakening - he can't go with you (for some legitimate reason, maybe he has a bad cold), so stays behind so you are apart "for a time." If someone assassinates my assassin though... oh man.

I'm not taking anything for granted as well. It's most likely just a bad translation, but still, everything is possible.

I'll take the 'for a time' the way it impressed me without any outside input the very first time I played it. The player and Zevran are there for a time, and then move on together.

Therefore, if he's not there in the Exp. I'll play a new char through without the romance. i invested far too much time and far too many emotions into my game to just shrug its ending off, especially my two favorites, the silly mage, and the now nicely progressing amazon.

Af for easiest dismissed/killed/etc. I'd like to say that of all the romance partners, Leliana is the easiest to leave behind. All the PC has to do is, well., nothing. Just leave her in Lothering. End of romance before it began.

Except as far as Leliana goes, there are (and correct me if I'm wrong, by all means) two times to recruit her in Lothering, not just the one inside the inn. So she's a little more difficult to shake off.

By easiest to kill/leave, I probably should have worded it differently. Obviously, I am a Zevran fan and in none of my playthroughs have I ever left him behind, but I'd say there's more people out there who have killed Zevran simply because he was an assassin sent by Loghain, even some people in this thread and the Zevran appeal thread (you know who you are - traitors!) I mean, Sten and Leliana are easy enough to ignore, you can walk by the cage or turn Leliana down, but they haven't actually acted against you in any malicious fashion.

Oh, that's true enough, about Leliana, but it's a simple click on "no thank you" and she's done and darkspawn fodder. Of course, I re-loaded, can't leave Leliana behind, I like her.

Obviously, I'm squarely in the 'Zevran squee camp' as well, and never, ever could leave him behind let alone kill him. Not even my amazon could, and she was very hard and suicidal after what happened in Highever, and watching her dying father being forced into agreeing to let his daughter become a GW.

As a matter of fact, Zevran is the one who softens her up again ;), and makes her want to live, getting rid of her suicidal tendencies.

However, I was strictly speaking of the ease of leaving certain companions behind. The only one I had problems with is Oghren, perhaps I'm missing a dialogue option. I wouldn't be surprised seeing as how the game has a tendency to glitch. (Yes, I do play the 'get rid of a companion options' out, but I always save and reload. My F5 and F9 keys are slowly wearing out.)

I really hope this shows up. This is my beloved amazon. Doesn't she look absolutely fabulous. I love that armor on her. No boobs hanging about, no cleavage (sp?) just all biznezz.

I don't know why the whole file name shows up. I've no clue how do nix this. Sorry

2nd Edit:
This explains why I love this girl so much. This is in camp, and she's listening to Zevran trying to impress upon her that being an assassin is a good thing, and killing not so bad.

She completely disagrees (having seen her whole family slaughtered didn't help Zevran much). She also thinks he's an idiot, because if she did enjoy killing, he'd be watching the radishes grow from below right now. His excuses for killing innocents is sitting so wrong with her, because she had to watch a whole bunch of innocents being killed alongside most of her family. (Alissande disapproves -15) I love how her facial expression is in sync with all of ths.

She's also thinking she might have made a mistake in letting him live, let alone join them. Yes, they started out on the worst of terms. However, as the story is now, neither Zevran nor Alissande can stand being separated from each other.  Ah, love. Ain't it grand?

She's beautiful. I haven't put any of my characters in heavy armor yet and was thinking of doing so for my elf mage/arcane warrior, but was worried she wouldn't look good in the bulky stuff. You've convinced me otherwise! Many of my characters know what Zevran is talking about when he talks about the enjoyment of killing. All your HFN needs to think about is what it would feel like to sink a blade in Arl Howe to know what he is talking about. Though, he is talking more about the artistry of the thing than about revenge.
