Second edit: I bet, ummmm, I don't know what, that within a month the Aligirls thread will have either died completely or will have more postings than us.  They are a CHATTY bunch!

To be fair, the last time I poked my head in there, they were discussing make-up and hair mods - how to make their characters prettier for Alistair (no, I'm really not joking).

Ejoslin, I still think you're right to put it in, optional if you must because of crisis of conscience, but from your descriptions over the last month+ it sounds to me that it's not lore issues but simply poor coding. You can certainly make an argument for the other, that it was removed because it didn't fit with the impact that the designers were trying to make and given how few real patches we've seen to the game, it doesn't feel like its a priority to investigate even if these things NEED to be fixed. A tiny example? When the warden is referred to as female when they're actually male in the Zevran ending.

Enough with the self doubt, woman. We love you, you're doing the right thing. Fix on, Princess, fix on. <3

I fixed that!  Yeh, there are a lot of examples of problems with bad flags.  And these are known issues and easily fixed.  And thank you!

some Ali fangirls scare me. I do love the dude, both as clueless bromance type and as a romance option, but there are some depths I won't plunder.

Yarrrrr plunder makes me think of pirates. YE BE TALKIN' LIKE A PIRATE NOW, YARRRRR

I know you did - that's why I mentioned it. My penis is eternally grateful. Point being, it was an known issue, one that Bioware COULD have fixed, but never did. Which is why I don't think sorting out dialogue and flags is really considered much of an issue with them - and why we're all very happy you're doing it. If anything, I'd be willing to side with you in terms of lore, unless David Gaider himself steps in and tells you you're wrong. Now if only you were getting paid... but I guess Charsen is sort of handling that... with kisses.

And such fabulous kisses they are!

Edit: I almost said I am so glad I made your penis happy but that just sounds WRONG!

It's not for Alistair.  *rolls eyes*  ;)  And so they don't lynch me over there, though it's entirely possible you'll lynch me over here, I think most hair/make-up mods look god-awful, so I stay out of that discussion.

It's just convenient to talk about things like the toolset and character creation in the same place with people who have similar interests

I never get how my warden is meant to apply all this make up. During darspawn encounters, perhaps? I can buy it's tattoo'd on, but still.

And also some of the hair/make up options on some of the icons I've seen makes me think they're done by a half blind trailerpark "beautician" from some bunf**k country with all the taste and style of frickin' Perez Hilton. Coral pink lips and electric blue eyeshadow? Oh honey, no. Just, no.

Just in case: If you don't click on any of the bedrolls or the campfire and turn back, the shade will appear. You'll be able to fight it with your whole party, no injuries involved.

Aww we won't lynch you over here. Actually, we give out cookies--really good ones, too. I would even mention that we know a whole lot of things about the toolset and CC over here, as well... :innocent:

And BTW, Princess loves makeup! :kissing::wub:

Naw, we don't even lynch our trolls, but we DO have fun with them! You at least are not saying we play bondage games with Ken and Barbie dolls unlike ummm, some Ali fan who posted here recently! Of course, that was insulting only because bondage games are MUCH more fun if you leave the action figures out of it!

Of that, I have no doubt.  It gets complicated trying to keep track of both threads though.

And I've, uh, managed to start a religion over in the Alistair thread.  *whistles*

@ejoslin Just another thought about the Ali dialogue. In Baldur's Gate it was really obvious as to which characters were the developers favorites. In DA:O, they seem to have made a real effort to avoid this and to give each companion near equal emphasis. Maybe they decided to tone down Alistair a bit to avoid players jumping the gun on emotional responses to him, before they get to meet other possible companions?

I can imagine the Ali fans loving this extra dialogue. I can also imagine the gamers who play for the kill just hating even more dialogue at Ostagar (which is already dialogue heavy). For players who are there for the lore, its just redundant, and for players who hate Alistair it provides another groan moment LOL.

I'm really glad you are leaving it as an optional file but does that mean you will end up maintaining two Alistair dialogue fixes?

I thought that it already was a religion, much like this thread.

I sort of formalized it.  ^_^  And, um, promoted myself.  Alistair likes a take-charge kind of girl, after all.

The main file mod continue to be Zevran Dialog Fix.  As long as Zevran remains bug free, I am very happy.  There are modules within it though, and those can be deleted as people see fit.  My main Alistair fixes came with fixing his scripts.  I was aware of some errors that are missed by Alistair fans because of my hostile play throughs and political marriage play throughs; any other fixes were very much happy accidents (well, ok, I did put the proper conditions in when Ali is still in love because sometimes I get that too).  Alistair_at_Ostegar will remain an optional file, and if someone wants that extra dialog, they can use those files to replace the ones in the "Alistair files" folder.

My cult at school was Tori Amos. I had a shrine, and everything. NO ONE UNDERSTOOD ME, OKAY.

I cannot listen to her anymore without flinching in embarassment.

OMG PINK! I looooove pink! And like, wowwww! You mean like, Alistair is a GOD? I haven't even met him yet and he sounds so dreeeeeamy, I think I'm in love! But, like, we don't have to go to church or anything do we? Cause, like, my parents always made me go to church and like, all the Chantry priestesses or whatever they are are always so stuffy and mean and they don't let me play with my hair and stare at myself in the mirror while they're talking and I just get so annoyed! LOL, because I'm so beautiful! I just don't get what's with all the silence and stuff. BORING! Anyway, like, what was I saying? Oh, pretty makeup!
