Anyone else think it's sort of odd that during the Gauntlet, you can get that caustic banter from him regarding friendship? I can understand if Redcliffe/Haven is done early on and he might not be trusting the Warden (yet) or any of the companions, but for whatever reason, I usually end up doing Redcliffe later in the game and hearing that (while it is a good line) always makes me go, "Hey now..." Maybe he's thinking about Rinna and Taliesin and he's looking at it in a different light after talking to the Guardian (I know we've talked about THAT before, whether or not we think Taliesin in some way was trying to get rid of Rinna because she was "competition"). Anyway. There you go. On topic and everything.

Edit: How come Zevran can say someone is pretty but the second I say it it's some weird Deliverance reference. CURSE YOU DOUBLE STANDARDS. And I don't know what EEE is. Can I guess? Is this like some confusing sudoku puzzle?

XD  It's cool, man.  It's only a Deliverance reference to me because of where I live.  Thanks, I guess?  You don't have to whip out compliments to apologize, though, especially when I'm the one being a moron.  And the EEE! is my netbook.  It has a camera built in, you see, so I could capture the toothbrush hanging out of my mouth and the eyetwitch if I'd been on it.

I got the friends one when going through with Cadryn, but I got some lulzy stuff about puzzles like this being no fun if no one can fall to their death on another playthrough....  At which point I decided Zevran must be a PoP fan as well.

Aww, well we know as well that he's never had actual "friends" before. I'd assume it's about Taliesen and maybe Rinna, yeah. The latter of which he and Taliesen did the betraying on... but that's still relevant. "Everyone stabs everyone in the back", maybe?

Still, that'd be pretty jarring to hear, especially late-game.

And lol about the dog, I wonder what landmark gets that out of him? Or if it's even specific. XD

I take that line as joke, Sresla, but I hadn't thought of it coming so soon after the Guardian's question about Rinna. That really does put a different slant on it.  Zevran was the one doing the metaphorical backstabbing in that scenario, not Rinna (Taliesin? I don't know. I tend to think not.). If Rinna is on his mind, he could be meaning simply that he is the sort of person who will assume his friends will betray him, as he did with Rinna.

ETA: A couple of his possible responses when talking about Rinna lean towards him deliberately avoiding knowing that she was innocent, I think.  He tried to believe in her guilt rather than her innocence.  He 'wanted' to believe she would betray him.   It's a chilling tale.  In that context 'faith' that his friends will stab him in the back makes sense.   I think he has changed by that point in the game, but maybe it's a bitter comment on how he used to be, or even how he thinks of himself still.

The scripting command reads (regarding Dog): #78 - MULTIPLE LOCATIONS (BAD DOG LINES) - Lines fired when the player-controlled dog pees on something the follower likes. (individually scripted)

Here are the lines:

Oghren: Sodding mutt. Bad dog!
Alistair: Come on now, bad dog!
Wynne: Bad dog! Not appropriate!
Leliana: That's uncalled for. Bad dog!
Morrigan: Disgusting beast. Bad dog!
Zevran: That's all wrong. Bad dog!
Sten: Despicable hound!
Loghain: Filthy mutt! Bad dog!
Shale: If it urinates on me, I crush it. (VO: muttered warning -- she thinks urination is disgusting)

I kind of thought the landmark thing was a little uncouth.  It didn't bother me overmuch, though.  So I'm rather glad none of the companions speak up--it would make it even more awkward.

@Sresla's on topic question: I also take it as half joke, half reflection of his former life - living amongst Crows can definitely make you have that kind of comments. I think it's not regarding recently formed relationship with Warden or their group ... it's more how his previous life took over for a second
(But really, that's bit more than there really is - it's old Zevran speaking and dev not very much thinking about that, oversight IMHO)

I'm not sure what causes those lines to trigger. The only pee places I see for the dog is during the dominance quests. They may have thought to add more pee points in.

Coffee is good.

Zevran is sexy.
