The madness starts at page 76 of said thread . Enjoy!
Btw, Alistair fans are not that bad, since they survived CZ&Charsen's hijack :) Aimo's response comic is hilarious!

Anyway, Zevran and dwarf Warden killed some dragon in ancient ruins buried in the forest. They had great time going through it's treasures. Me thinks that they might share an interest in shiny objects ... *wonders is this would make a good fanart*

Edit: I can't draw now (I'm at work/school) so here is wogule's pic instead

*sidles in* Ej, if you still needed a program for converting your FRAPS files, this one is free for the next 20 or so hours. I have no experience with it and have no idea if it's any good, so this isn't a personal rec, just something that popped up on my LJ friendslist this morning.

The scripting command reads (regarding Dog): #78 - MULTIPLE LOCATIONS (BAD DOG LINES) - Lines fired when the player-controlled dog pees on something the follower likes. (individually scripted)

Here are the lines:

Oghren: Sodding mutt. Bad dog!
Alistair: Come on now, bad dog!
Wynne: Bad dog! Not appropriate!
Leliana: That's uncalled for. Bad dog!
Morrigan: Disgusting beast. Bad dog!
Zevran: That's all wrong. Bad dog!
Sten: Despicable hound!
Loghain: Filthy mutt! Bad dog!
Shale: If it urinates on me, I crush it. (VO: muttered warning -- she thinks urination is disgusting)

I've never heard ANY of those lines and I'm sure I've done the Landmark thing a few dozen times in my playthroughs. Maybe it's not related to that though, and that's why it was taken out. You can't pee as Dog any other time as far as I know.

Periodically, if you select dog for a conversation, he will pee on something random.  That is when those dialogues trigger.  I have heard most of them in-game (I didn't know how many things the dog could bring you or if those things were location specific in my first playthrough, so I brought him a lot of places and "talked" to him.  I didn't even know about the landmarks until midway through my third playthrough.)  The line from Shale will also trigger as random party banter (just got it in the Deep Roads).

Aroihkin, thank you so much!

@sami jo I don't think I told you I love your picture. I assume that is your husband. You two look so happy together. And you have the best smile!

Dagnabbit!  I was hoping no one saw that.  That was my husband with me.  We were at his sister's wedding and I was sooooo tired.  But yes, we are very happy together.  I am one very lucky lady.

Edit: and thank you.

I guess I should ask the modders here.

Where do I find the dialogue where Alistair or Anora asks you about your plans and offer a boon?

I would guess cutscene_postcoronation, but that file is broken in my toolset so I can't tell you for sure.

I’m getting completely lost in this thread so I don't know if there was some an earlier discussion but a couple of pages ago there was some mentions about how tall the dragon age characters were and Zevran being 5'7, where did that info come from?

I never realized the elves were so tall… compared to me at least I’m about 5 feet short (1,50 in metric).

I agree, Yendi. 5' 7" is quite a bit taller than me too - it's about Tom Cruise's height? It's not noticeably short for a human male at all, and I thought the elves would be shorter. At 5' 7" he'd be noticeably taller than most human females. The heights are strange, though. Sometimes my male elves look about the same height as Morrigan. Zevran feels tall when I'm a female dwarf and short when I'm a female human.

Okay, I've got one.

Anyone else think it's sort of odd that during the Gauntlet, you can get that caustic banter from him regarding friendship? I can understand if Redcliffe/Haven is done early on and he might not be trusting the Warden (yet) or any of the companions, but for whatever reason, I usually end up doing Redcliffe later in the game and hearing that (while it is a good line) always makes me go, "Hey now..." Maybe he's thinking about Rinna and Taliesin and he's looking at it in a different light after talking to the Guardian (I know we've talked about THAT before, whether or not we think Taliesin in some way was trying to get rid of Rinna because she was "competition"). Anyway. There you go. On topic and everything.

/late Jen is late

Thinking over the comments I've heard him make at the puzzle, he seems in a rather bad mood in general, which isn't surprising, given the whole Guardian thing.  There's another banter, not quite as sharp (possibly more humorous), where Alistair says something like "I think we're supposed to stand on those" and Zevran comes back with (very poorly paraphrased) "yes, the next time we see something that looks like a trap, maybe you should stand on it."

The stabbing in the back comment is kind of jarring late in the game, though...   Even if he had Rinna and Taliesen on his mind after the Guardian's questioning, given that he didn't let anything about that slip out to the others, it seems odd that he would say something vaguely referencing it later.  (I would imagine any of the other characters who heard him say that would be shooting him odd looks at that point, if it wasn't early in the game....)

Average height for US men in 2008, according to the CDC: 178.2 cm (5' 10.2")

Average height for US women: 164.1 cm (5' 4.6")

Most European and Australasian countries have average male heights of 5'11'' - 6' with women's heights ranging from 5'3'' - 5'7'' averages in data taken in 2004.

In my country 5'8" is the average female height.

I don't really think real-life data matters much though. In Ferelden humans are taller than elves and elves are taller than dwarves. And Qunari are giants ;)

I read that Ferelden was based on Scotland, rather than the US (although I imagine it was very loosely based), so you'd expect humans to be a bit shorter. They might be even shorter if nutrition was poor. But the height differences don't seem consistent in the game.

I'm not sure how much the different races are meant to be - they are different races, aren't they? Not different species? So they are all versions of human, I would think. This is something that has confused me since Tolkien.

Nice male/male kiss screenies this morning. Also, love the art! Keep the eye candy coming. I personally have no artistic talent whatsoever and find it very frustrating when I'd love to draw so many beautiful men.

I just assumed my male human was close to 180 cm and guessed that Zevran who’s is a little above his shoulders would be about 160 cm but perhaps the definition of human is different here, the human females also seem a little taller compared to the men.

I don't think humans have to be exactly the same in a fantasy world as in real life but it would be nice to get some information about what is different.

They are different species with their own physiology, culture and religion. Elves and dwarves are as related to humans as cats are to dogs.

But, if Ferelden is based on Scotland (I didn't know that) then the heights make sense. Until last century - I think it was the first World War - the Scottish people were the tallest in Europe. They were certainly the tallest during the Middle Ages. So, humans of both genders would definitely be strong and tall.

Edit: I just remembered - Mary, Queen of Scots was 6 feet tall.

I thought that it was more akin to dog breeds. They look completely different but still can have puppies. Culture and religion has nothing to do with species.

I didn't say culture and religion had anything to do with species. I said the humans, elves and dwarves are different species, each with their own physiology, culture and religion.

Since they can sometime interbreed, its logical to assume that humans, elves and dwarves share a common ****** sapien/humanoid-type ancestry, but elves and dwarves are sure not subspecies of humans. YMMV...

Maybe it's anticliche ... something like Thedas is on southern globe ... so, let's make humans tall *shrugs* I can't see any other reason. If it were just Couslands, then I conclude that Couslands are exceptionally tall people, but some random Circle mage, as well?

The ability to interbreed and have offspring that can interbreed in their turn is the definition of being the same species (if the species reproduce sexually).

It seemed like it was implied that the culture and religion was an argument for the difference of them, other than in culture and religion. Doesn't dwarves, humans and elves have similar diets, life expectancy and habits? (in difference to Qunari, who seem to be on an entirely different metabolism)

No, elves were immortal until they lived too closely to humans and they quickened. Dwarves may be more closely related to Neanderthals   I believe that they all descend from the same genus, but are not the same species (or even subspecies of one ancestral species).

Edit: Not so sure about diet either. City elves and surface dwarfs may share similar dietary habits to humans. Taste buds seem to be different (where it comes to dwarf liquor anyway) and I havent seen any humans or elves demanding a feed of roast nug. Given the amount of farting Oghren gets up to I think the dwarf diet must be pretty rough. Unless, of course, elves and humans are just too polite to mention it :P

It's more likely that someone sat down and decided that Qunari = giants, human = tall, elves = short, dwarves = teeny then tried to design a proportional body size to represent this ;)

Come to think of it - I'm not sure I've seen any dwarf children. Young kids I mean (not Dagna) - are there any?

No dwarven children. The closest we have are Dagna and Sandal.

And I withhold my belief in humans, dwarves and elves being the same specie, at least in the definition of the word.
