If in a 71+ romance, the PC might really start to question how deeply Zevran's feelings for any  lover run, if he was willing to fight against Taliesen.  And yes -- we've discussed how Zevran's feeling for the Warden (probably!) outstrip whatever he felt for Taliesen, but that's us discussing at a meta-level.  The PC still has these rather shaky, awkward displays of emotion from Zevran at that point... what are they to think?    They could talk it out, of course, but that kind of conversation seems a bit out of place in the game -- by that I mean, it seems like you wouldn't have a talk about that sort of thing within the confines of the game.

And without some sort of reconciliation of that, going straight into the earring offer would be.... awkward... 

So, yes... I can see why that's never brought up at that stage.

(I do think it can be brought up sometime... just not then.  I'm planning for earlier in time -- retcon is go!)

I think you have a good point there.  Zev has made it clear that he had many lovers, and I think all of my characters have kind of gotten the picture that Taliesen was probably one of them.  I wish there was the option to ask him about the relationship after Taliesen is dead--more than what is possible if he leaves.  I'm not sure how it would work, though.  Given how difficult it is for Zev to talk about much of anything emotional, and given that he probably needs some time to process what all of it means, I almost see that conversation happening after the archdemon.  He is slow to process emotions (which is understandable). 

Edit: I think Taliesen meant more to him than Rinna, though not necessarily romantically.  It was obviously a sexual relationship, but if the age difference listed in the tool set is to be believed, Taliesen may well have been more of a parental/big brother figure for him.  I've wondered if realizing that Taliesen would slit his throat under the right circumstances as well was as much a part of his suicide attempt as anything the master said.

Edit: My Zevran is unmodded. Most people who mod him use one of ASK's variations (on DA Nexus as ASKs Zevran something-or-other).

Nooo, don't do it. It really does go both ways, fyi. A few Zevran fans are real pills, too. I briefly considered stocking up on Zevran death scenes, but there are too many awesome posters as well. I RPed her as a city elf who was excited about getting married. She had her future laid out ahead of her so she's just trying to see where Zevran and her are going since it's all a blank slate.

I was actually thinking it was directed at me.  I got a top of the page post at Club Ali and posted Charsen's demotivational poster!  Along with Ali officiating at my dwarf's funeral.  Then I had to add a screenie of Zev's face.  I was bad today!

It's often mentioned around here that a lot of his best responses are from choosing the dialogue he doesn't approve of (or at least taking the middle road), and anyway, there's no wrong way to RP a Zev romance (unless Zev's response here sent your elf running and screaming into the arms of Ali lol).

And it's kinda cute that even though he seems so set against "love," he does still end up falling for a Warden that chooses the more clingy/ innocent responses.

Well, there is that option to ask him after Taliesen dies, but he can't be at adore.

It's close to impossible to only romance Zev and not have him at adore by then.  I don't have that sort of self control!   And even with that conversation, there is so much left unsaid.  You still don't really know the nature of the relationship; you know more, but there are some huge holes.

*grin* THAT is very true! But I do think his comment, "you were a friend, and more," really shows that no one was as important to him as Taliesen was until the Warden.  That whole scene, whether he leaves or stays, is so incredibly sad.

Well, you know Alessar, he's not going to guess at something like that unless someone spells it out for him   At least, I think.  I'll have to see how that conversation goes once I start writing it..  But yes -- the PC already knows Zev's had many lovers, and I don't think it would be a huge surprise to anyone that Taliesen was one of them.  But you hit on exactly what I was thinking (and forgot to write in my original post) -- it's so hard for Zev to talk about his feelings that a conversation like that could be devastatingly awkward.   After the AD, hmm? I could see that...  Everything just hits so fast once they get into Denerim that there's not much time to reflect on anything...

I believe the info in the toolset has been called into question when it comes to basic character data like that, but I'm not sure about the ages... but whatever their relationship was, I agree it was more meaningful (..to Zevran, at least) than whatever he had going with Rinna.  And oof, i hadn't though of that last bit quite so directly... gooood point.
