I can read innuendo in most stuff the way my Nanna used to be able to read fortunes in the foam of a beer glass, I swear to god...

Those tattoos are pretty awesome!

*Sort of dire series of books, to be honest. Don't bother, the main character is irritating as feck, but the world the author created is rich and engaging. Go figure.

Haha, my mother and my best friend love those books. I made it to page 130 or something of the first book before getting tired of the main character. Also, I distinctly remember thinking: "Okay, so this is a society where everyone has sex with anyone and anything... Where are the STDs?" I'm horrible. XD

Stuff about the crows I'm intrigued by:
*Would they hire out contracts on children? is there an age limit?
*How do they puppet master the city?
*Exactly how much power do they have politically?

I don't know.  I suppose children wouldn't usually be much of a threat to power, so wouldn't usually need to be killed.   I get confused with the talk about Antiva - when Zevran is talking of 'princes', he means merchant princes, doesn't he, not royals?   So when somebody assassinates their way to the top, it's not quite the same as a royal killing of those closer in line for the throne, as it's not about inheritance (which is what I first thought when he first told the prince story)?   If it was about inheritance, then occasionally it might be 'necessary' to assassinate children.   If not, then I don't see why they would be a threat.  Zevran does mention inheritance at one point, I think, when he talks about someone inheriting a Crow cell.   So maybe it works the same way as royalty, with bankers, for instance, passing their business to their families.   If that's the case, a poorer relative could arrange for those next in line to be assassinated, and that would probably have to include children if they were in the way.   Or would it?  I am asking more questions than I'm answering here, because I don't know the answers!

I'm not sure how much political power they have.  I got the impression that the place is run by the merchant princes, and that they pay the Crows - it's protection money I suppose (the Crows as a sort of Mafia?).   I imagine those with the money have the power because they can buy the most protection.  The most wealthy are the most powerful politically.

But I may be wrong about all of this!

Zev says in one of his dialogues that the cells are "owned" by nobles (in the story where he gets stripped by the orphans).  He says that the prince who was assassinated had inherited a Crow cell from his grandfather or something like that.  In another party banter with Al he says that the nobles head the cells and makes a comment about not wanting commoners to be in charge of that sort of thing.  The conversations with Ignacio and Zev seem to imply that the individual cells are largely independent.  They may cooperate at times, but they do not have to.   Based on that, it sounds to me as if the cells are controlled by the merchant princes who use them like their own private armies, making those merchant princes Crow leaders themselves.  If that is true, it makes the various political assassinations seem more like highly contained civil war than anything else.

Could you get any more information out of Master Ignacio? In the toolset at least. Wasn't one of the disguised Crows a female one? Or was he just a drag queen dropping female noble clothing?

Dude. That female clothing you mentioned I found in the toolset as DUNCAN'S ROBE. Just so you know. *lol* :?

I found the main character so far from what a real courtesan/'hore would have to endure that it annoyed the crap out of me. I get the S&M aspect no problem, and can handle the character's kink... But it really suspended my disbelief. I know it's a ****** bait book to read like the True Blood/Anita Blake series are, but eh. Just no.

I liked the "guild" system for the Night Court though. It's not a new thing, I've read many series where vampires/fairies/etc are split into guilds/courts, but I thought it was well done, and could see the Crow cell system being the same.

I see, remembered seeing that mentioned on another thread, was prob'ly a question of female/male morphs. Some morphs might appear odd especially if you've a ton of mods installed. The name could be Duncan's Beard for all I care, the gist is, what it does look like on a female or male character. Then again, it's supposed to be a disguise... N/m.

Hey hey.  The Sookie Stackhouse books are not great art, but they're not PWP like the Anita Blake books (really?  a three-chapter sex scene?)

I've only read the first in the Anita Blake series, not gonna lie. My friend is all THIS IS JUST PORN WITH VAMPIRES IT'S GREAT. OH, AND WERECATS.

I really should get around to finishing the True Blood series too, I think I've only read the first three.

As far as "urban fantasy" goes, I just stick to the Dresden Files series... Thomas is kinda Zevran-like, amirite?

I was alluding to Tigana of course, but this makes me sad.  I think I shall cry.
Not my favorite of his, by far, but his other historical-fantasy type things have a similar feel to them, I suppose?  The first one I read was The Lions of Al-Rassan, which was a.. tighter story, I think.  I dunno, I think I like him much more for his wordcrafting than the plots.   I'm a bit strange that way.

Don't be sad *pats jen* everyone likes something else. I find plot superior device in fantasy so I rate better smart plots, it has to be surprising and engaging. The story can be build on other things - characters or pure wordplay, but for me it's mainly about the plot. Maybe I will give Kay another chance, since you like him, and that's relevant recommendation form someone who also writes.

@ Zevran knowing only one poem :D that doesn't mean he haven;t read them, maybe he just doesn't remember. I've read hundreds of poems and I can't tell you single one.

Just to be different I vote NO.

For those who maybe interested in making custom tattoo's for dragon age: {LINK}

It does require photoshop and doesn't go step by step as the writer assumes you know what your doing, but it is very interesting none the less.

Well it's his intelligent property I'm mauling, so when he comes back all rested and disappointed because it's not how he imagined the scene because all of a sudden Zev lost his armor, I can point fingers and yell "they thought it was a good idea too!". Yeah. I need to ask. I need scapegoats.

Been thinking of doing a mod like the Custom Bodies mod, but the kisses take up so much of my time right now. =X I had two artists who were going to help, but they flaked.

Ooooh, do like!  The refinement of the lines of this one are more in keeping with the one on Zev's face, yeah... (except the shoulder here, wonder why it changes style slightly...)

Hehe, I know, I know. XD  Actually, I don't know a lot of people who have read GGK, period, but I suppose now I just don't know anyone else who likes him. ;D  Now that I'm thinking about it, though, I think most of my likes are based on writing style and characters rather than plot. XD;;   For that, i suppose I have to go to Tad Williams and Kate Elliott.

On topic!  True enough. XD  But I would have thought being able to rattle off a pretty poem or two would be useful for Zevran in his work, too.  Although, I suppose he does say right then and there that he prefers more tactile seduction techniques.
(edit for formatting.. sigh. ;P)
