I am REALLY REALLY REALLY MAD right now. Some modder is putting out a bug fix, comprehensive, which is good. I skimmed over the thread, offered my help as I do as ZDF is an open project, offered to help him yadada.

Then I read the thread more carefully. For his next "update" he has basically read my list of fixes for ZDF and corrected them himself. The fixes are good, and need to be done (obviously) but I feel like the past month of work I put in is about to go bye bye.

ZDF is open, b2bs are available for everyone. That won't change. I'll even keep my b2b available up for him (Qwinn1234) but this is seriously upsetting to me. And I'm not sure why! But GAH!

Edit: This seriously is making me wonder why I even bothered.  I know I don't own any of this stuff, but omg.

EJ, i completely understand your frustration. lately i have been having some issues with other modders too. i have seen what this guy is planning to do before and if he is using your list of bug fixes as a guide, then you should be credited for your work.

Stealing? Not technically.  What it looks like he did was read my list of bug fixes and went about fixing them himself.  And what pisses me off MOST is I had just skimmed the thread and didn't realize it, and offered to HELP him.  Then I read a message from Terra_Ex (who is making a Morrigan mod that will be compatible with ZDF) basically telling him off for what he's doing, so I reread it and saw, yes, that is EXACTLY what he did.

I doubt he was planning on giving me credit. He never bothered even contacting me. THEN he was asking me for advice which I gave (as again, I didn't read closely enough).

So he saw what you fixed, and said to himself, "Well, even though she already fixed it, I'm gonna go ahead and fix them myself and make her look like an idiot for not waiting for me to do my work. Hah!"

Report him, there is no excuse for that. You work too damn hard for what you give us, and you should be credited with your work.

I am grateful to Terra_Ex for taking him to task for this. I NEVER would have noticed. I'm not sure there's anything I CAN report him for. I do know his mod won't have the amazing Charsen kisses! And will probably end up being incompatible with cmessaz's work as well. Just GRRRRRR! And thank you. I'm not getting much sympathy here at home for this!

There was a similar con artist at KotOR II modding, too. Sheesh. Eventually he got busted and they kicked him outta FileFront and Lucasforums. Have you contacted Terra_Ex and, what about his work or Charsen's? Tried contacting Dragonage Nexus?

Yea, I told my brother about this and he said, So long as this guy isn't directly STEALING your work, you really can't do anything about it other than spread the word of what he's doing to everyone you can, and make sure they understand that you did those fixes FIRST.

I agree with everyone else here, they are stealing your work after all chances are they wouldn't have know they where there to be fixed otherwise, after all one else did.

Also as you said the B2B is there if people want it so they can't argue that they had to fix it themselves, all credit is saying "This bit of my mod was done by: X", there no reason for them not to give you credit, it doesn't cheapen his mod in any way and they should be thankful that you did the work for them.

 I read that, and all I can say is, I really, truly love you Charsen, in a platonic-type way.  But you are the absolute in awesome!  Thank you so much!   And truly, it's probably a good thing you're not close to me, because I'd probably give you a huge kiss anyway, much to your complete embarrassment!

I don't think it will change a thing, but yes, his mod won't have Charsen kisses, won't have the added sexytimes for Alistair from cmessaz's additions to it (with both BSC and Tmp7704), won't be compatible with Terra_Ex's fabulous Morrigan fixes.

I'm calmer now.  I suppose it's almost a compliment that someone WOULD do this, but *sigh*.  Finding the bugs was half the battle.  And I know he will get my alistair_mainb2b, as it is up on my project page and WILL remain there, and see how I managed to get rid of all references of Alistair being king, saving him a ton of work as he was going on a completely different track than I did.

And I will continue to have an open project.  I don't own this stuff, and the more compatible it is, the better.
