Good morning all! I'm feeling a lot better after sleeping, and I want to thank everyone again for their support!
I actually think his project is a good one. A major bugfix patch -- most people win. And he is probably going to do a better job than I did in many areas.
At least I will get some credit. And while last night I was wondering why I even bothered, I know EXACTLY why I did. So people could enjoy the game more, enjoy Zevran more (oh yeh, ESPECIALLY this) and if Qwinn1234's patch gives people that, then it's good!
And had I not bothered, his patch wouldn't include those fixes either. And then everyone loses. There's nothing unique about my mod, and if someone can do those fixes better, and cover even more than I fix, then yes, it ultimately is a good thing!
Edit: ZDF won't be made obsolete yet! Though he dismissed a lot of the fixes I made as "too easy" or "too obvious" there are still many fixes to be made. *grin* At least I won't have the evil which is Alistair bugs haunting my sleep!
Second edit: I think what is most frustrating to me about this is if I HADN'T done ZDF, these bugs wouldn't be fixed by anyone. The time was well spent, no matter what happens. But it certainly would have been better for ME had I just sent him a list! HOWEVER, I did learn a lot, and that is NEVER a bad thing!
Gah,

EJ: The funny thing is that he seems to have absolutely no idea what it is you fixed. Thus my repeated, and repeatedly ignored, calls for him to actually contact the mod authors from which he is gleaning his information. I'm not sure why he feels the need to fix everything himself aside from wanting all the credit.
I think that's exactly it. I think he's going to end up missing smaller fixes, and not realize it, because those types of fixes I didn't really enumerate. "When marrying Alistair for political reasons, he will now give appropriate responses to a friendly/warm warden" is not an obvious fix, though it makes a game play difference.
My initial reaction yesterday was, WTF? WHY are you doing this? Why did I bother with what I did?
I do think a large patch like this is a good thing. I also think, however, that it is too soon after DAO was released, and it will end up harming everyone in the future, including the maker of said big patches. I probably will never take on a project like this again on future games. It was a lot of fun, but very time consuming.
But I keep thinking, Zevran at the gates for more people? Fabulous!
Edit: Was this coherent? Probably not. Need more coffee.
