That is exactly what my problem was as well. Had he contacted me, I would have had no objections at all -- these things need to be fixed, and if the fixes are altogether, more people will have them. Why he'd even want to do this as a solo project (though, despite what he seems to think, using other people's work to find the bugs to begin with means it's not a solo project) is beyond me.

Anyway, this dwarf kiss is cute, though it's not quite working on all my dwarves! It's far better, though.

Second edit; I have the dwarf kiss fix up at both DANexus as an optional file and here http://social.biowar...m/project/2402/ .  

Third edit: It's not a new kiss.  It's just the old kiss tweaked.

I should have taken off the weapons before taking this screenie, but here's CZ's first dwarf finally getting a decent Zev kiss.



Ok, naked dwarf kiss. CZ uses different mods than I do. I should have taken off Zevran's armor and given it to Galen, but I didn't think about it until just now.

I just scanned through his mod fixing topic.. and the guy is seriously pushing my buttons. He is so full of himself and thinks he is the great mind behind all the fixes. When people tell him about the 'stealing' he starts telling a nice story and refuses to admit he is wrong or anything.

The bad thing about it is that most people in his thread are happy about what he is doing. I can understand that because what he is doing is a good thing, The only thing I have trouble with is the way he is doing it.

Eek, I missed the "fun" last night..  
*hugs for ejoslin*  Everyone's said it better than I could, but yeah.  Just on classy points, you win hands down, lady.    You've always been open with your work, willing to help others, and you guys really seriously care about the characters, which means that we players who also care about the characters get the best results!   Like someone mentioned, consistency of code within a mod is a nice thing, but that same goal could be achieved by working WITH the authors of previous mods, and/or at least talking to them!

Feh.  No question which mods I'm sticking with.

Yesterday I was ready to quit. Today I just fixed (almost, it will never be perfect) the default dwarf kiss. This is totally worth doing!  Thanks for letting me know that. 

Edit: And yes.  My problem is also the way he's going about it.  I think the idea itself is excellent.

Seriously, I don't understand why that guy is so intent on fixing everything himself. It would be so much better if he went about it the DT way--increase compatibility with other bug fixing mods and link to them to give the authors credit and so people can flexibly choose which components they want. Your mods add many things that his doesn't, and to likely see them become incompatible is disappointing. If he'd just accepted that you already made the changes (thus making it pointless to do them himself) and thereby promoted your mods as additions to his own it would have been a much better mod for the community as a whole. From what I've seen, all the other big mods (DT, Alistair Fix, BSC, the CC addons, etc) have all been working together to complement each other rather than override each other. That's what a modding community is about, not about one person using others' work (no matter how small) and trying to claim it as their own.

He is asking for help now. And since I offered it, I am giving it. This will end up being a better bug fix for everyone, though I have to admit I'm tasting a bit of bile. SO I need to test dwarf kisses more! But not on CZ's dwarf.

Edit: I think my next project is learn my way around the cutscene editor a bit better!  AFTER lots and lots of dwarf kisses!  It's nice having this kiss fixed.  It's seriously hot when it works correctly!

Second edit: I seriously think sometimes I am too nice for my own good.  I just never know when it's quite the appropriate time to tell someone off!

Yeh, the default elf kiss is bad, isn't it. I know Charsen was looking at that, and I do NOT know the cutscene editor well enough to actually tackle that. But hmmmm, it may not be a bad thing to learn on. But Charsen would do a much better job, if he still wants that.

About the whole compilation thing... the whole situation is very frustrating since everyone is very upset about it. Teamwork and community encouragement is so much better than angry pitchforks. It's easy to overthank, and it doesn't hurt anything... except maybe pride.

I did it for CZ! You know what he thinks about that kiss.  Though I really wish I had had some dwarf OTHER than Galen to test it on.

Edit: And it is frustrating.  He asked me for some help today, and I gave it.  I hope he listens to me on it as well.  He "discovered" that if you break up with Alistair because you don't see a future with him, that you get the "still in love" flag and he wants to remove it because it is inconsistent with the warden asking at the end "What about your duty to your future wife."  I told him part of the point of Alistair's story is he remains in love with a warden who breaks up with him because he's going to be king or he breaks up with her for that reason (I also told him where to find that conversation *rolls eyes*).

He did grab my party_eventsb2b (I had offered) which makes me realize that those *simple* fixes are probably NOT so simple.  

I just keep telling myself, this will end up with a better bug fix.  It will.  And THAT is what is important!

Second edit: I didn't MAKE that kiss, I hope everyone realizes this.  I just changed Zevran's position.

I actually do have a concern with his project now, and that is he doesn't quite understand all of the lore from the romance points of view. He wasn't really agreeing with me that the still in love flag was appropriate if the warden breaks up with Alistair, so I told him about the second place that happens and I haven't heard back. When you don't know the story, it's hard to fix it. And he doesn't know the love stories of Alistair and Zevran.

My main concern is that he does it RIGHT and doesn't change the lore. I'm glad he's asking for help now -- I think maybe he does realize there's a lot he doesn't know in the story.

Edit: Charsen, my main problem is the kiss itself.  It's way too short.  I actually like the look he gives before hand.

He is listening.  He's trying to figure out where it really IS appropriate.  I told him it would be a good idea to follow the script notes on that.  There are bugs in the romances and the flag may be getting set in places where it shouldn't.  I think it's better to have it set too much than not enough.  It's such an amazing moment.
