05 hours, 00 minutes and the Crow dagger is finally starting to look like a Crow dagger. I never paid so much bloody attention to the hilt of one of those things before, and I haven't even started on the guard. It's going to be 20 hours before I even start shading and highlighting at this rate. XD

Well, for Michelangelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel took approx. four years to complete, so no worries.

LOL, he was also painting something just a tiny bit larger and more complex.

I'd stumbled into the idea in previous pictures, when I drew Megan Jones (OC with black hair, who wears a lot of black) against a dark background. Skan's feathers of course were a lot more complicated.

Of note, I never use true black for anything but the lines, and I don't use true white even on the whites of the eyes. I don't know why, just my OCD I guess. XD Glad you like it though, it certainly took enough time and effort, lol.

Yeah, I like Vanyel well enough. But I roleplayed both Drake and Skan at one point, and Vanyel has lots of fanart... Drake at the time had none to speak of, and Skan didn't have much. I'm biased. Zev's* one of the few characters I'm doing art of who has a bunch of fanart out there already for him.

(Very belated edit2: * I forgot in my brainfog stupor that I've done some crappy Raistlin Majere art. I believe Zev is only the second character with lots of art already that I'm doing stuff for, anyway.)

Aro, it's very awesome so far! His nose looks little to wide, but I think color and shading will remedy that. Otherwise I am in awe, the perspective and forshortening is something I am very bad at and you seem to excel and get it just right

It's absolutely the shading, if you squint for the grey lines on his face you'll see the swooping "bridge" line is currently grey, waiting to be a guideline when I start slapping color on him. ^^ You can see it here before I greyed it out. My faces always look funny before they get colored. XD The nostril line on that side will probably be defined entirely by the shading. Hope telling you that that makes it look less ridiculous, I can't color the face until I do the expression. XDD

I'm glad you like it though. ^^

Oh yes I see. Coloring changes lot of things and you are actually little more painting with color than drawing with lines. I tend to define everything by lines and color is meh, that's why my pieces rarely get past line art. If color I prefer cell shading and that is different process. Anyway I like it a lot so far, he really looks good, lot like Zevran (*thumbs up*) and the action pose is very good, me approves!

Yeah, I can't really do lineweight and such in MS Paint, so I rely completely on my shading for the more delicate stuff. ^^ I won't be able to tell if I made the base too wide until I start slapping the color on. Thankfully, I can change things around fairly easily even at that point. Paint is ridiculously easy to shift everything around in once you have the trick.

And I'm glad, it's my first true action pose!  I'm doing several firsts with it, so hopefully it turns out well. It keeps things interesting that way. And MS Paint chips are delicious, lol. ;D

I also wanted to draw something like this - the idea was showing Zev's rescue tactic set up, but I didn't finish it since I had no reference and got the proportions wrong. Besides I realized I can't (do not want) to draw a Warden in distress, it just doesn't really fit. Sketch can be seen here.

I can see not wanting to continue it if you weren't wanting to draw the scenario to begin with. :/ I have to reeaaaally want to draw something before I'll do it, since it's such a pain in the ass, and often that still isn't enough to get me past the big blank white screen.

I just wanted to point out that continuity of chapters is not an issue for me, since we all know the story (if the fic follows the Origins story), so I actually find it a bit boring/redundant when everything is said and repeated (e.g. 20 different interpretations of how Warden spared Zevran can be interesting but after certain amount it's just not THAT entertaining). Maybe I am not good fanfic reader since many many author do that and it's probably good thing to do. But honestly after reading a bunch of those fics I just tend to skip the parts that are actually in game. Hence I like yours writing maybe. I think I would be ok with a fic that just tells what is not ingame and omits the rest without any continuity - just snippets about the same Warden (said I like the char). But that is just my cup of tea, I think random reader expects full story.

even if you didn't like that sketch Mina, i thought it was highly suggestive... hehe and that's not bad at all =) however it does seem weird to have a warden in distress, i agree.

and Aro seriously why MS paint?? lol. i think i've asked this before. it just perplexes me. but in an amazed sort of way.

Hm, I dunno, it's something I've been meaning to ask about on here but I wibble at going on about my fic. You wouldn't think it, with how much I do it anyway, but... like that edit, I get really self-conscious about it. XD I'll try to rephrase what I deleted:

...So there's a really hot (but dark) and sort of kinky IO chapter waaaaaay off in the future of the time-line that various bits of specific wording finally hit me for the other day. This has been planned to eventually happen from the moment I decided to make it a romance, but specific turns of phrase hadn't popped into my head until then. Now, of course, it's about half-written, if not more than half. Part of why 13 took a bit is I had two future bits in various stage of completion I was also working on, including this one in particular.

It's not very long at all, and it's not smut, but oh boy does it set the stage for some heavy, "I will have to post this on another archive if I write it" stuff in the future as a result of itself.

It is, however, established!relationship and post!treaties, most likely even post!Taliesen since "amore" gets used.

So, since several folks here read IO... do I hold onto it, allowing myself more time to fine-tune it for maximum impact but potentially never using it for one reason or another, or make it 14 or 15 despite how far in the game plot it is, and how it skips right past all that "I love how their relationship is building!" stuff? I'd then be going back to the build, most likely, so it would be like a... preview or something. We all know they're going to get there.

I dunno. XD Too jarring? IO isn't sequential anyway, I've already jumped back and forth in the game plot multiple times, but never yet so far as post!treaties and possibly post!Taliesen. It also showcases a very broken-down and flawed Alley, who folks seem to dig, though I think it makes Zevran shine by contrast.

You're talking sex with Zevran -- jarring it would not be, and I think *I* would feel better for Alley knowing she finally was able to get past not seeing herself as desirable. You've established a building relationship already. You don't need to go through every bit of the courtship I don't think to show that it does end up with more.

In fact, I'd say getting a dark and sort of kinky chapter up will help prevent a cliche-type relationship buildup which you've avoided brilliantly so far.

Or maybe I just like reading sex scenes with Zevran. /shrug.

And just to add to the voices here, what you do in MS paint is so absolutely amazing.

Edit: I DO want to read more about their relationship building, don't get me wrong on that!  But I don't think a sex scene set in the future would be jarring!  I'd rather see something like that earlier than not at all.

Honestly, I've been using MS Paint for so long that I can do just about anything I've ever wanted to do in it, given enough time. When I sit down to do a picture, the last thing I want to do is fight a new program just to try to figure out the basics all over again... I can't even make one line merge with another one in photoshop, I've tried. In the time it takes me to figure out how to basically tie my shoes in these other programs, I could have a hell of a lot done in Paint.

My roommate, the professional comic painter one, has been promising to teach me photoshop for years now. It's not happening any time soon, so I continue with Paint. I didn't have access to anything else until, oh, two years ago, and online tutorials are right out of the question considering I can't even read awesome novels anymore and my short-term memory has been shot full of holes. That sh*t just frustrates me these days, like my IQ has been flushed right down the toilet with just enough scraps left behind to know there used to be more to it.

I'll learn other programs eventually, but right now I just stick with what I know. And I kind of like how distinctive it makes my stuff look anyway. I'm already stuck using a mouse to do this with, so I may as well use Paint.

Anyway my last idea about IO and continuity - even if it's not continuous regarding the Origins story, it seems to be continuous with Zev/Alley realtion ship slowly building. In that perspective it really could be contraproductive to post a chapter that takes place later in this line. I wouldn't mind it, but it's about preferences - if you want it linear or not. Some preview into future state of relationship could be awesome, but watching the progress continuously also has some appeal... *shrugs*

@charsen - haha, suggestive is good but the scene was not, I'll just get back to drawing naked people :3
@warden in distress vs. Zevran for the rescue - I can imagine the situation, what would they say afterwards and all that, but I can't grasp the facial expressions and actual poses in action.
@MSpaint - uh, it's also alien tool for me, I am not a friend with pixel precise drawing, but I can also draw with mouse so I believe it's just matter pf practice

Edit: OMG, ejoslin just said it much better than me, I agree with every single line in her post <3

It's actually pretty dark, some may even say disturbing, and maybe a little touching, but Zev himself makes it hot quite on purpose for various reasons. I'm not sure how else to describe it without just spoiling the crap out of it.

But I'd be throwing the "camera" way off past the Taliesen encounter, and then reeling it backwards again right after. I suppose knowing what's to come might make some things more interesting, I dunno. I still have stuff I want to touch on that happens before that, like the complete OMG WTF that is the Broodmother, and probably a ton more stuff I'd list if I was more awake.

Edit: At least, I'd think it as past Taliesen, with "amora". Past all the treaties at the least, it's after she sees the Alienage again.

I would promise you guys that this part will eventually go up, but I would hesitate to post it unless I was feeling brave enough to write (and post) the followup. Although even that much might just get me shot. Alley is both fluffier than people seem to expect, and more broken as well.

Edit: Going to bed, I have to get up at least briefly in a few hours to help pack one of the cats off to the vet. His face has some weird nasty infection going on that probably needs a shot to clear up.

i was really experimenting with those camera angles. i was hoping it wouldn't make the viewer too dizzy, lol.

did you catch that butt-grab? i modified the usual kiss to give her a slight goose... hahah.

btw, i decided to make a project WIP post but i will of course still talk about kisses here since i'm making them for you guys

Nuu. It should be just the kiss, I agree.
Though if you imagine how petting in heavy armor feels - the wardens in leather/robes have better time maybe?
