Inspired by the artists here, I have tried to colour in that picture of Zevran and Rinna that I tried to draw a few days ago. I mentioned that I've hardly drawn anythingsincethe '70sfor a very long time, which explains a lot.
My Zevran is special because he has no ears, unlike all those ear-endowed Zevrans that other people draw. (IEars = too squiggly and difficult. And where exactly do they go, anyway? I'll try later). I know that the colouring in looks like it was done by a four year old with blunt crayons. I can't get the hang of it, but I'm having a lot of fun and practicing. Why are his face and hair such strange colours? I don't honestly know. Everything on my computer is so small and I think I need new glasses.

just tell people it's a "style"
Seriously, make more, it's so fun and I don't wanna say 'light' which sounds stupid, but it flows really goddamn well. I'd wear it.

Damn that Maric and his studly ways *shakes fist*
But the canon will be Alastair/Anora having no heirs and Endrin Jr. taking the throne in both Orzammar and Ferelden.

Omg, I like your style! I can't paint. The size of the picture actually makes it pretty impressive - like when you look at a piece at gallery and stand to close, lol.Conzuela wrote...
I will take this as a timely moment to link some expressionistic Zevran pinup chestiness, though in the wake of something much, much cooler ;_;

Didn't you know? Maric spent a lot of time in Orzammar. Endrin Jr. is actually Maric Jr.Herr Uhl wrote...

Crap, aren't half-dwarves larger? THIS WILL NEVER WORK. *Heartbroken*
edit: Thanks, Minaleth. I'm actually really jealous of people who make things look...like actual things, but I think it's the best I can do, big, messy, and overbearing

Yes but they were constrained by default body models that could not portray his largeness! It must be true!

It should be definitely the steam, in bathhouse, with tubes, hot water and everythingAroihkin wrote...
I like it! The coloring being choppy like that makes it look a bit like they're in the middle of some fog. Or steam.

I'm really, really struggling to do things on the computer. Not that I'd do any better off the computer, but at least I'd be able to see where the end of the pencil/brush was. It's a lot of fun, though.

I do love your piece. <3
Charcoal's one of my favorite things to work with. You really do feel free when you just start scribbling madly on the page, yet somehow it seems to bring things together better than other media.
Er, yeah, completely un-Zevran related, but it shows how I like to handle charcoal: Link.

We should definitely share insight as we trudge along this messy road! Lots of layers, lots of Ctrl-Z IMO. Can't wait to see more of what you draw, btw!
Awesome, Nonvita! We have a (vaguely) similar approach I think. I use a lot of lines.

If you're not feeling artistic, my biggest piece of advice is just to do it. Like, find a piece of napkin and a pencil and scribble.ejoslin wrote...
All these talented people. I am impressed. Gah, Conzuela, that is beautiful. People talk about paint and charcoal and pencils... Well, I DO get crayons! *sigh* but now that my kids have outgrown coloring, I no longer feel artistic.
The more you do that, the better it feels. Just remembering what it's like to have something in your hand is really helpful at least for me, and then getting into practising and such comes nearly naturally with a *bit* of force, haha. Perhaps your kids have outgrown coloring, but maybe that means someday you can draw with them in other media XDD OOH YOU COULD BUY THEM ACRYLICS. Oh hell yes. Or even, like, some runny silly tempera paints. Probably a better, safer idea!
I love little kid art supplies.

You mod games. Edit: That is artistic.
On a similar note, I used to go to a special art class when I was young (13-15) and that was where I first realized just how much I fail at painting. Those art lessons were a good place to sleep though.

The one I have in my wallet even has glitter glued on it. XD
Edit: I've shown it alongside my ID to total strangers before, the way my wallet's setup when I open to my driver's license my "real" ID is next to it.

Seriously, it's like if functional art got a digital makeover and instead of being furniture or jewelry it was something 50 times better >.>
It's one thing to do awesome work, but it's another to do awesome work FOR other people.

I do like drawing, though. For my own amusement, and the amusement of others who see it and realize it was drawn by someone over the age of 4! *grin* I am really impressed, though, by what people make here. Both in writing and in pictures.
