It seems grumpy likes to tell other people how to play judging from his other posts. Seems like he may be hurt because he used to be more of a camper??? and can't cope with the run... Says that biotic kits are under-represented due to to poor mechanics.... Whaaaaat? I speed run all day with my human adept build. Shockwave+singularity= splosions= crowd control. That or the vorcha soldier... Cant stop the critter from plowing through waves.

Oh and I guess this is all trollishnesseses follies :D

Really good players will always find a way to face & overcome challenges put up to them. You can't stop speed runs, you can't nerf great players.

Not that I would want to end speedrunning, but Bioware could institute a support cost timer. Grenades/Cobras used in the first 30 seconds of a wave cost triple (3x) of your available item. If they're used in the second 30 seconds of a wave, they cost double (2x) of your available item. After a full minute, the costs become normal. This would give the AI more time to spread out its forces from the spawn points.

Um... are you gonna delay powers so players can't use powers till a minute after a round start too? Not all players use missles to clear a spawn. Some of the good ones use powers to their advantage.

it is kind of funny that bioware pushed camping out only to make speed runs more prevalent, if you are not ramboing now, you are doin it wrong.... hell even the few precious moments of objective hacks are getting screwed because of biowares anti camping approach.... seriously if anyone can post a vid of gold or higher where they can keep every enemy out of the hack circle, i would be impressed, cause it is just about impossible to keep from getting swarmed now during a hack obj.

Geth bomber is basically a mobile speed bump deployer... heh

DISAGREE!

"IF you aint ramboing now, you are doin it wrong"  IS TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLENESS!!

If are ramboing and aint playing as a team...THEN YOU ARE SPLATTED!

Speed running, the term which is a phrase from speed and running, Denotes something, in this context, a game instance being completed as quickly as possible.

Some speed runs, especially in mmo's, use bugs and exploits to get past enemies/skip encounters to make the run faster (run i.e. the instanced dungeon)

Yes, this may be a MMO, yes, you can consider a match a dungeon with 10 waves of enemies. But using tools that you are given and not exploiting any advantage, etc, is not a bug, and cannot be "fixed" persay.

People are good at this game. That is a speedrun. There is a specific strategy involved in speedruns, but it is efficiency that plays the only role in a speedrun. It is not a exploit if there are no bugs/etc. being abused.

Your argument begs clarification, if not, is invalid.

The original poster was being sarcastic, I feel.
The impression the developers have left with these new units and new faction is that they don't want people to take a little time to plan their approach, therefore causing the 'speed run' to be the preferred playstyle. Since people were finding camping, i.e. holding a position, to be fun, the developers are apparently attempting to force people to play 'the way they want them to play.'

The cynical appproach then is to anticipate the developers finding a way to remove 'speed runs' too, since people are having fun doing that.

Indeed, that's just too bad a cover-based shooter is now a mobile cover-based shooter,
Except that moving around kills the inexperienced. The style of the game is very inclined towards teamwork, which is why finding friends is very important.

Yes speed running mist be stopped. How dare you play a game with multitudes of strategies a different way than me. I don't like a simple and effective strategy so it should be removed from the game... hey while were at it let's remove geth infiltrator and the entire shotgun class... hell I don't like adepts so I demand that bioware takes adepts out of mass effect entirely

This guy got it.
I too think its sad that afew "Anti farmers" whineposts on this forum has bullyed a whole playstyle out of the game, I enjoyed the "farming" games, i found them relaxing and fun, Loved the tons of grabs, and the Biotric explotions upon explosions.
I will miss those runs dearly.

The thing is, I've seen this development pattern before.

I anticipate, in the next wave or two of enemies being released, there'll be more high-health, high-armor, high-shield mobs introduced.

Yeah why try to eliminate it???  The faster you make credits the faster you get UR s.   I dont get why they hated camping.  Let people play how they want to play we all paid for the game.

Speed isn't quality. I've had women remind me of that more than once!

Personally I find speedrunning boring, unrealistic even in the context of the game and semiexploitive (due to inherent of knowledge of spawns).

It's cool that you want to play the game like that and kudos to those who can do it really fast on high difficulties. It is just not for me.

I'd say that I find it a bit... well unfair... that speed is extra credits.

If you are skilled you are rewarded with much extra credits due to higher difficulty. However when at a particular difficulty a suitably skilled player can "breeze" through the level and actually further lowering his difficulty by allowing less enemies to spawn.

Whereas anyone struggling on a difficulty, takes longer, have to fight through more enemies and puts in more effort (atleast imho) gets even further punished by less credits.

If you're good at something it becomes relatively "easy" for you.

Ie. I'm not impressed that a professional marathon runner runs a marathon. That is only interesting / news worthy if he's among the top 10 people in the world and sets records. Between those two extremes theres a fat guy starting to run who subjectively will have to put in one helluva effort.

So imho, bronze, silver, gold and platinum should make as many credits an hour no matter how you play it.

If bioware wants to promote speedrunning. Make a competition for vids and hand out prizes :)

PS: I stayed on silver, because fun > credits > stress. So I gave up some credits for the sake of fun but have to give up a little more because my fun isn't the approved fun. I am a happy camper after all*

The ones that complain about speed running more often then not are the ones that are in the high tier N7 rank and already have most of the gear. A few of my friends had the initiative to save up a tonne of credits before the changes i only wish i had joined them. <_<

Speed running is an exploit? I thought it was just good players getting work done.

I am sure that if people do it for fun they wouldn't mind not getting extra credits for it.

Speedruns are even easier now with the added gear that allows you to carry more rockets. But I understand BW's motivation for this and squashing the camping method. Speedruns requires you to use consumables, camping doesn't.

how is speed running an expliot? it takes skill and coordination and teamwork ot complete. you are also completly on your own most of the time.

Camping is mindless. FBWGG could litearlly be done with 1 hand spamming decoy and grab. its an expliot.

Personally if i was BW i would have keyed teh objectives on glacier and white to always be a hack or escort which forces the whole team out. a pizza and devices can be done with a simple shadow on your team by themselves. targets come to you.

Aslo speed running takes skill. you can't combat player skill w/o making the game cheap and impossible for the lesser skilled people. camping doens't take skill really.

This just seems as pointless as complaining about the campers. Let people play the way they want. I've had the game since launch and I have never been forced to camp or speed through a game even when the community has shrank.

I tend to think that it is an exploit of the fixed spawn positions.

Truely random spawns or a 5-10 sec. spawn immunity for the ai would make speedrunning alot harder but is probably impossible due to rather small size of the maps.

EDIT and PS: I don't mind people speed running but I don't find it fun. I want to camp more than run and I'm spending quite alot of time running.

Op is a troll, just let it drop. He was the same one whining in another thread how farming required more brainpower and skill than speed running (seriously, how in the world does sitting behind a counter only preforming grabs take either?). I challenged him in that thread to post a time better than any other speed run posted (do it any way you want, come up with your own strategy to do it as well by the way).

Camping isn't really difficult and neither is speed running. However, when you combine the 2 speed running becomes far more difficult because of 1 or more players blocking off a spawn you may not want blocked, only good players know how to counter that. Hate to break it to you OP, but speed running will not be stopped unless enemies literally just spawn randomly around the map. Also, keep being mad that you can't beat Gold now and have to go back to a difficulty you belong in (I paid my dues in both Bronze and Silver before even attempting Gold, you should do the same).
