Does anyone know of any placeables which show up on the ceiling of a roofed tileset? Essentially something that is intended to be seen from underneath.

I am specifically looking for holes in the ceiling, trapdoor openings etc...

For example I've got a couple ladders in my module that simple disappear through the ceiling of Tom Banjo's cellar tileset. With such a beautiful tileset, and decent looking ladders, its irritating to me that I don't have a good hole in the ceiling placeable to use.

I've already published my HAKs but one little patch.... couldn't hurt. :)

I made a spiral staircase for the dungeons if that's any use.

I don't know of any specifically, henesua. I'm going to add something new to the list of themes for the CCC though, just because it's a great idea.

One little patch won't hurt. I've found most players don't mind occasional updates if it means they get new goodies.

Borden, I like your work, but that is not what I specifically have a need for in this case.

TAD, thanks. I'm glad the idea is at least of use.

Zwerkules is working on ceilings for default tilesets atm. I'm sure a PM in suitably grovelling tones could pursaude him to add a trapdoor ceiling.

a trapdoor placeable for a ceiling shouldnt be that hard. If you dont want to model it from scratch You can use the existing trapdoor, mirror it on the z-axis and place it at around 3m

It isn't hard, but I am doing my best to limit the scope of what I do in NWN. Creating graphic assets is for me a bottomless pit. I just can't stop working on a model once I start. And then it takes 4 times as long to complete a project.

If you had a trap door placeable for the roof, that still wouldn't solve your problem with the ladder which would now disappear into the trap door instead of into the ceiling. It would be better if there was an actual hole in the roof with textures that fade to black.

Yes, that was one of the items I requested. In fact all that is essential is a wood framed, square hole with a black texture.

@henesua so for what tile do you need this trap? I still think working with a placeable model is the better way because you can use it everywhere and no limit to the feature "ceiling trap tile" for corridor X of tileset y... you know;)

No. I want this as a placeable. Thanks for asking. :) And all I need is a square frame with black inside the frame. Essentially a hole in the roof.

It occurs to me that this cannot be a placeable except for a 2 dimensional plane. The reason being that fully 3d placeables will not fade when the ceiling does. However a 2d plane does have a front and back as far as visibility is concerned.

I've been using what TAD sent me, and those are 3D objects. I think they work well, as it shows from every view that their is a hole in the ceiling. AND you can use them on the floor as well as one more type of hole. I think I'll use them to replace a "destroyed" trap door. Haven't worked that in yet though.
