In Dragon Age Origins each companion was compared to a type of food by the designers.  If we're to buy Inquisition, we must know what foods are on the menu.  I expect to savor the Orlesian dishes but perhaps we shall also have some Anderfel candies?

Really?
Do you know which food served as analogy for each character?

I vaguely remember them saying that Zevran would order a daiquiri.

Sheryl Chee says "Alistair is an apricot. Cute, sweet and just a little fuzzy."
Cori May said that Wynne was most comparable to "oatmeal with raisins and honey, and lots of them"
Sheryl Chee described her as, "a macaroon; very French and very girly."
Cori May described Morrigan as "the darkest of dark chocolates; bitter but rich."
David Gaider described Zevran as "deceptively spicy salsa."

that was all i could find on there wikis

You can find some of the descriptions on the dragon age wiki. For example:

Leliana: "Sheryl Chee described her as, "a macaroon; very French and very girly."
Zevran: "Lead Writer, David Gaider described Zevran as "deceptively spicy salsa.""
Wynne: "BioWare employee Cori May said that Wynne was most comparable to "oatmeal with raisins and honey, and lots of them"."
Morrigan: " BioWare employee Cori May described Morrigan as "the darkest of dark chocolates; bitter but rich.""

Edit: Oops, it seems I was too slow.

oh, yay! a fun thread!

okay lessee....i expect at least one of the companions to be like beef jerky. tough, but savory. and can save your life in a pinch.

one i expect to be like a chocolate you get from a candy box. one that has that surprise pretend orange flavored filling, and you say..ugh! it's pretend orange filling! Basically, you think you know them, but...

i hope one is like a good roast turkey dinner. mashed potatoes and gravy and everything. make me feel warm and happy.

also one like an Indian curry dish. different flavor. kinda spicy..almost too spicy. and you really shouldn't take another bite, but its just so good

I imagine Cullen to be like a cake. Tender on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. :P

@Quicksilver and Dhiro : Thank you very much!!

(Yup, Morrigan... the only sort of chocolate I really like : The really bitter one...
I also wonder about Zevran in which sense the 'deceptive' is to be understood : Because the spices mask the real sweetness, or because the overall 'spicy' taste is yet complex and a bit unsettling?)

I also wonder at which stage in the character development those analogies are made (writing, art) and if similar analogies were used for DA2's characters?

Oooh!
Yes........

Comparing characters with food is a great way to broaden and deepen their personalities because one thinks about food with what comes to mind while eating/tasting/seeing it.

I really want a character that could be described as a baked Alaska. "Warm, light, and sugary fluff on the outside, but deep down... cold as ice".

Almost sounds like an Anti-Morrigan now that i think about it...

Obligatory answer of Sten and cookies. (someone had to say it)
I wonder what food we could use for Morrigan's unmentionables.......actually lets not go there.

To my eternal shame, I didn't keep a record of the answers given previously.

Dragon Age wiki has some of them:

When asked to compare a list of NPC companions to food, BioWare employee Mary Kirby described Leliana as "A sticky cinnamon bun. No question."

Sheryl Chee described her as, "a macaroon; very French and very girly."

When asked to compare a set list of NPC companions to food, BioWare employee Cori May said that Alistair was most comparable to "strawberries and cream, sweet and wholesome and delicious, and a little goofy." While writer Sheryl Chee says "Alistair is an apricot. Cute, sweet and just a little fuzzy."

When asked to compare a list of NPC companions to food, BioWare employee Cori May described Morrigan as "the darkest of dark chocolates; bitter but rich."

If the party was going out for a drink, writer Sheryl Chee has said, Morrigan would "refuse to partake in any such foolishness."

When asked to compare a set list of companions to food, BioWare employee Cori May said that Wynne was most comparable to "oatmeal with raisins and honey, and lots of them".

Writer Sheryl Chee, who wrote Wynne, has said that when going out for a drink Wynne would "drink the beer, but only good microbrews, none of that mass-produced swill."

Writer Sheryl Chee has said that when going out for a drink Zevran would "insist on garnishing his with an orange slice and an umbrella."

Lead Writer, David Gaider described Zevran as "deceptively spicy salsa."

Edit: Actually, I might have been the one who put that on the wiki.

There was also this post by Luke, about Aveline. Don't ask me how I remembered this. I could've used those brain cells for something important :'(

What food companions will we taste? I'm still waiting to sample the cheese that tastes of despair.

I be interested in a companion that is akin to a panko-crusted pork cutlet. Or maybe a salted caramel.

As long as one is a steak sandwich then it's all good. More than that would be gravy, of course.

In my own opinion, she would be a milk chocolate truffle made with a pinch of hot paprika. Sweet and innocent looking, but it packs a punch in the end.

Some of the "what drinks would they order?" are very nice ~

"Writer Sheryl Chee has said that when going out for a drink Anora would "skip the beer and go straight to tequila shots.""

"Writer Sheryl Chee also commented that when going out for a drink Daveth would "order a large variety of those pretty drinks that come in Martini glasses and taste like candy, and send them to that cute girl in the corner.""

"Writer Sheryl Chee has said that when going out for a drink Jory would "nurse the same pint for four hours and then fix himself a cup of tea.""

"Writer Sheryl Chee has said that when going out for a drink Alistair would "have half a pint and giggle uncontrollably for the rest of the night.""

Also from the wiki.
