So I tried to solo Gold for the first time, having recently done Silver. The map was Glacier against Geth, and I was using my Kroguard, which many people reccomended for Gold soloing. I had a Reegar, Power Amp III, Drill III, Targeting VI III and Shield Booster V.

The game started out a little rough on the edges, with some close calls, but after I got used to the differences between Silver and Gold solo, I started to get used to it. By wave 3, I went down once and had to gel. The objective was Pizza, and was easy. I got to wave 6 without a hitch and the objective was again Pizza.

Between wave 7-9, most of my equipment was eaten by the tough enemies (wave 8 had no Primes, which was a welcome reprieve). When I got to wave 10, I had 1 Medigel and 3 Ammo Packs, and nothing else. The objective was a hack circle. I managed to complete it by kiting the enemies around the map, though I had to use my last gel.

I was very close to finishing wave 10, when a Hunter shot me in the back and stunlocked me while a Pyro charred me, all the whilst it wouldn't let me Biotic Charge. Still, I got my money AND it was my first try at Gold solo, so I'm not too disappointed.

Good job man. I've just tried my first gold solo attemp with a turian ghost, vancouver, reapers. I only used 2 medigels at wave 6 (hacking circle) and made my way up to wave 9, where two brutes stunlocked me until a banshee came and instakilled me. It was fun and I'm going to try it again right now, I feel that if I avoid instakills I can do it. Keep trying

First of all, congrats on your first very good try!
Then, if I may add a simple yet effective advice, put on a cyclonic modulator 3 or 4, and you can even forget about your gels

You've gotten farther than I ever have against the Geth for a solo run. I've had an easier time against Cerberus and the Reapers. Since the patch and DLC, however, I've been unable to solo as I've spent much of my time playing PUGs or a few matches with folks I know. Adjusting to the Dragoon rush and Dragoon/Phantom tandems has been....problematic. It is likely I will complete my gold solos versus the Reapers.

Not bad for a first attempt. You can also pick a larger map like Giant to spread out and buy yourself more time. Good luck on your next attempt!

Put on shield gear like stronghold and cyclonic modulator. I also recommend incendiary ammo and charging right before the enemy dies or on Primes for fire explosions which do a lot of splash damage. Put piercing mods and clip on your reegar. Everything should melt with this setup and likely you use no consumables.

Im going to try it against the Reapers...silver against them solo was a breeze...

The same cheap death happened to me like 4 times on my Silver solo's...

Hunter would stagger me and then do his "I'm a badass, so I am gonna shoot you once, move 100 feet and then shoot you again and melee you in like 2 seconds" move.

Then the next one a Prime's drone staggered me like 4 times while Pyro's burned me through a wall.

The third one I got downed by a rape squad of 3 Rocket Troopers that just rammed me into a corner...

Finally I used the N7 Demolisher and was able to spam grenades that actually stun them.

I would probably choose a bigger map if soloing with anything other than a Kroguard.

Not sure if drill rounds are any good on the reegar, go with incendiary or the yellow one. Excellent progress on first try though! Also reegar charge trick doesnt work anymore!

Nice run for your first gold solo attempt. That's a lot further than what I could have gotten. I will attempt a solo on gold sometime soon, just gotta get potential characters' levels back up.

As someone else mentioned, use cyclonic modulator (3 or 4, 3 is good enough against gold enemies) and you will likely not have to use your medi-gel. Also, I find that incendiary ammo with the reegar is the ******. Use the ammo capacity mod (reduces the number of trips you have to take to ammo boxes) as well as the armor piercing mod but NOT the hvb. I find the HVB on the reegar coupled with barrier increases the cooldown on charge far too much.

I've never solo'd, but I've been in matches that seemed like it. Hell, even platinum matches are really really easy with the reegar and incendiary ammo. Just my tips to you.

Nice one, I too know that exhilaration as I made my first two attempts at solo gold over the weekend (as I saw it being the only challenge award I could get anytime soon), using a similar setup; Kroguard with Geth on Glacier.

I can appreciate why some people love this character; my build was damage protection and melee, I took an Eviscerator X (I don't have many decent Rares, funnily enough I unlocked the Reeger from one of the PSPs I bought with the resulting money) with blade attachment and Incendiary Rounds III, for gear I took Juggernaut Shield III, Cyclonic Modulator III and Strength Enhancer III.   I barely fired a shot, apart from to set up fire explosions, first game I didn't need to pop any medi-gel, second game I used one medi-gel and two ops packs when I accidentally wedged myself between two Primes and a load of Pyros.

I think I was also quite lucky with the objectives; I had hacks and drone escorts, which meant that as the Geth like to get up close and personal I could stay in the area and still fight.   It was satisfying but I probably wouldn't do it regularily; I much prefer working as a team.

But good one, here's hoping you get all the way to the end; it is a good feeling when you do it.

Wow, didn't expect this to get dug up. Well anyways, on my second attempt the day after I didn't fail on wave 10, and successfully extracted, under the same circumstance as my first try, though my second try went much better.

On my second try I had a Cyclonic Modulator III in my possession to use, along with AP III ammo (didn't have any incendary) and a Targeting VI III (didn't have any shotty rail amps). It went much better, I got to wave 10 with 2 medigel, 1 ops pack and 1 rocket, which helped me get through wave 10 and extraction.

I just went and knocked out my solos for the challenge, and I had THE worst luck. All three objectives were 1234 ones, and I managed to burn all of my rockets by the end.

Yeah, after 2 unsuccesful tries I managed to extract on wave 11 with the turian ghost, vancouver. First attemp ended with a magnetic hand of death by a banshee at wave 9, second attemp ended the same way at wave 10 after I completed the objective, and then I switched to geth because I was tired to fail because of sync kills, and finally made it! Tomorrow I'll repeat it to get the lone wolf title

I'd suggest you to change to a larger map when facing Geth. I think Giant is the easiest one and I made both of my gold solos there.

When I first tried gold solo, it was Glacier/Reaper.
I was GI with GPS, and equipped no consumables because I didn't have much to spare.
In the end, I died on wave 10...
Marauders were the ones who always killed me. Damn them.
