wow... New paladin...

 something happend to the paladin after last dlc and patch.

he is now all [tech burst] [ fire explosion] [cryo explosion]  all over the place.

anyone noticed?

went for build of 6\\6\\6\\5\\3, skipped for melee sheild line went all for powers + combo choices. :wizard:

I can't get any combos to work whenever Energy Drain is involved.

Incinerate + Energy drain = no combo
Energy drain + Incinerate = no combo
Snap freeze + Energy drain = no combo
Energy drain + Snap freeze = no combo
Incinerate + Snap freeze = fire explosion
Snap freeze + Incinerate = cryo explosion

Conclusion.Energy drain is bugged. Also tested Salarian engineer with same results.

tested right now and I can approve the following did work since my paladin was level 8 and onward...

1. Energy drain + snap freeze [Tech Burst]
2. Incinerate + Energy Drain [Fire Xplosion]
3. Snap Freeze + Energy Drain [Cryo Explosion] < - works on boss even with shields (praetorian)

That is very odd. I haven't been able to get those to work even once yet.

And meanwhile I'm having fire explosions and tech bursts all the time when I play human engineer for instance. It's just energy drain that doesn't work, ever.

You no longer need to get a kill to get a TB, whereas before you did, they now work like BE's. Good times!

I would say it makes the flame shield a good option, but the debuff on the cryo shield would be a bit more team friendly.

why will you want shield build when u can have 3 types of combo? vs armor\\mobs\\ shields |barriers ? this guy is lots of fun.

You mean FE and CE. TB never needed a kill :wizard:

Well that's strange...I get Cryo Splosions quite easily with ED + Snap Freeze :happy:

Well that's strange...I get Cryo Splosions quite easily with ED + Snap Freeze :happy:


Might be a cooldown thing - the priming window on ED is something like 2 seconds IIRC.

He can constantly pull of tech explosions.

Snap Freeze -> Incinerate= Cryo Explosion + set up for fire explosion -> Energy Drain= Fire Explosion, set up for tech burst -> Snap Freeze =tech burst + set up for cryo explosion -> incinerate = cryo explosion + set up for fire explosion -> and so on and so on

If you repeat this pattern he will be able to explode something everytime he uses and ability. Combine that with a suited ammo type and he's a machine right now.

Did not work for me just now. Do not use incinerate.

I had a hard time getting ED in there to work but playing a small map he is sick up gotta use something to help his recharge though 2.46 isn't fast enough

Has anyone read the balance changes? They modified the way fire/cryo explosions work. They are easier to achieve now. Check the weekly changes sticky

Edit:

Cryo Explosion Power Combo
- Like Biotic Explosion or Tech Burst combos, this combo can now occur without killing the target.
- The target must still be fully frozen to be detonated.
- Damage increased from [50-125] to [75-200]
- Impact radius decreased from [3-5] meters to [2-4] meters

Fire Explosion Power Combo
- Like Biotic Explosion or Tech Burst combos, this combo can now occur without killing the target.
- Impact radius decreased from [3-6] meters to [2-4] meters
- Damage decreased from [150-375] to [100-250]
- Damage-over-time damage decreased from [20-50] to [12.5-31.25]

I can't answer that one - although I did notice a larger number of these types of explosions, I haven't seen or tested it enough yet to tell which was working.

I think the MQE is my new favorite class. His ability to output damage to anything is amazing.

The paladin is also amazing. 2 paladins and 1 MQE or Demo is a wrecking ball of fire, ice, and tech

Energy drain followed by snap freeze will cause a tech burst, if anything, not a cryo burst. And since anything with armor can't be frozen, you can't cryo burst on them either. Shields and barriers work the same as armor, though the target can be frozen after the shields/barriers are down so long as a red health bar is underneath.

I was hitting so many Cryo Explosions from Snap Freeze+Energy Drain yesterday. Really liking how the Paladin plays now.

From my experience just now:
Against armour alternate between Snap freeze and incinerate for cryo and fire explosions.

Against Shielded bosses Snap Freeze + Energy drain.

Against mobs Snap Freeze + Incinerate will work the first time but then it seems energy drain is needed for units caught in the explosion. Afterwards I'm not sure if you continue energy draining or start alternating between incinerate and ED until the entire group is dead.

I'll keep testing.

Using Snap freeze + ED results in a CE against bosses and shielded enemies. I am not sure if this is intentional, but it sure is awesome.

Cryo shield is bugged and does not give the debuff.
