Morrigan and Alistair romances tie into the main plot, whereas Leli and Zav dont. Its not ****ting on the characters. Its saying they all should be as integral to the story in some way.

OP, I agree with you completely. I brought my LI along for the Leandra rescue quest and I wanted my Hawke to be bawling over her mother's corpse with said LI comforting her. But it didn't happen. Everyone's a harden hero in the game and in certain situations they barely show any emotion. Your brother died in the deep roads? Maybe a sentence or two of acknowledgement. What, you're sad your mother died? Just sit on your bed and look slightly depressed.

Why couldn't sweet and nice Bethanie ask for a hug after losing Carver? Why wasn't there a 'Hawke cries' option after any sibiling's death? Why didn't Hawke ever cry, even with a all 'paragon'/olive branch and angel wings personality?

I wanted to make a gentle Hawke, one that didn't want to be a tough hero and tried their best to be strong but would occationally fall apart, but because my Hawke's voice is acted out and my Hawke's face is shown, I pretty much only saw what they wanted me to see: A tough/confident hero.

In DA:O, we rarely saw the warden in conversations, so we could still imagine their response and facial expression. My Dalish warden was kicking and screaming when Duncan dragged her off for Ostagar, because she only wanted to find Tamlen. Almost every response my Circle mage gave to the templar commander was lying through her teeth. My city elf was naive.

But my Hawke was either a confident good guy/gal, a sarcastic guy/girl or an angry guy/girl. And those people apparently don't cry or surround themselves with compassionate people.

I think this is the problem with integrating it into "preset personalities" and "voiced" vs. none. (DA2 vs. DAO)

I like the wheel. And the voiced protag. I really do. I even like the "romance-win" button (which isn't a "win" button, more like a solution to "crap, I accidently flirted with {person}"). But there is that problem of the "set personality"

I think a *star dialogue* option would work well, but I'm not sure how, with that option, the nuances of a "personality" would work. Can an aggressive Hawke be less "naturally" romantic, or a peaceful Hawke unable to obtain a special "punch" option? What if is a LI, friend, rival?

I highly agree with the concepts (I really wanted to punch my brother, a lot). And I saw little bits of "affection" (shoulder touching when Bethany is being sad about the will, "cradling" before Hawke puts the murder knife on tainted Bethany who is a friend, hugging Bethany after killing all her mage friends, etc.) and thought "why then, when Anders is freaking out after killing the girl, or succumbing to voices in head, do I stare blankly, issue a line, then stare some more?

Or when Carver blames me for little sister's death, or Keran (templar you rescue from demons) says they kidnapped your sibling/LI/ bestest friend ever, I can't deliver a punch to the face, or grab their collar all threatening-like?
