Whole BSN cried for harder difficulties from day one - now you have Platinum, so be QUIET.

I didn't dare to play Gold until I was N7-200.

New players have Bronze & Silver difficulty to learn.

Are you playing on Gold+?  What's your kit/build?

It doesn't change anything, even on silver a scion shot remove all 500/600/750 shielded kits.

Well here's another thing that no one talks about, no one shouldnt be fighting a Scion by themselves(Tic Im not saying you were in your example). But no player should be fighting anything above a trooper by themselves. I see it so much in silver, a player is off by themselves fighting geth, get downed and then scream the geth are broken/cheating.(this is also why silver pugs are harder than gold/platinum players matches for me). Well its an egregious tactical mistake, if there's only one thing to shoot at guess what the AI is going to do?

MP is VERY much a team based game. We all know that by most people dont play that way. Play smarter and play with people who communicate and the game changes...into a cake walk in some instances.

It has gotten harder. The enemies that have gotten new units are much more difficult because of it. Geth raise their stun-lock game to the next level thank to the bomber's ability to flush player from cover, Cerberus can field up to 6 melee units at once and the two types of units require different methods to deal with each. Dragoons are fast as all get out, not just with their movement speed either, they often follow up whip attacks with SMG burst or even weave them in. And lets not forget the number of units able to stomp you has drastically increased, as well as their speed at which they decided to (near instant now) and how many will try to at once.

The game has gotten harder.

If new players find it too difficult then they can stay on bronze and enjoy the game that way or they can work on improving and learn that this game is different in that it won't sppon feed you the perfect way to victory. They can use the so called OP classes and increase their chances of winning and with all of the youtube videos and players on the forums willing to give advice and help new players there is no reason to think new players would be scared away from a more difficult game.

Soloing non-trooper enemies comes down to skill and difficulty. There are skilled players who can take down banshees, altas, etc. on silver+ without going down (and if really good/lucky, without losing health). Sure it may not be the fastest or most efficient way to handle said units, but if you can do it without otherwise hindering the team by all means kill it. At the very least it'd keep the big units away from the group and potentially killing the lesser-skilled players.

I will agree that this is a team based game, and any team that communicates and plays well together will own anything that comes at them. I can see that some people would call the "old way" too easy because they'd get their team of friends (or competent randoms) and roflstomp on gold/platinium. Some people (myself included) aren't quite good enough (or have that team of friends) to waltz into a gold/plat match and say "yep, can win, 1-2 medigels tops".

Very true. Bioware has increased the enemies strength and with the collectors finally given players a difficult faction to play against. They worked hard to remove camping/farming methods and alot of players who relied on that tactic now are faced with fighting the enemy head on. Run and gun players face the problem of simply being shot down more now and both of these playstyles neglect any form of teamwork which mass effect mp is based off of. Lobbies need to start working together more and if people don't have mics then simply make the effort to stay close to one another.

The game is most perfect today than never was. Amazing!
Is harder, but very challenging.
If better for you, play bronze or silver.

Sure, then increase the credit earned or decrease PSP price.  Do people really want to spend 1hr plus in bronze, only to get a PSP with 2 level 4 ammos in it?

Well bronze is still really easy, but i'd hate to be a new player. Since you know they would be 700 hours behind most of us in unlocking things. Anyone just coming into the game will have 1 steep hill to climb

Given how tough collectors are even on lower difficulties combined with new more aggressive enemies...yeah I can see it scaring off new players. It was hard enough starting up back in the day with your lvl 1 with Avenger 1 with no mods or consumables I can't imagine these changes have made it any more welcoming for new players.

anyone who only plays bronze isn't getting level 4 ammo. They are getting good unlocks like a geth plasma shotgun 2 or claymore 3

HELLO!!!!  Why is it so tough for gold or plat players to actually realize that bronze and silver are also harder!  Take off the 'ggod player' eyeglasses for a few seconds and realize that for a whole host of reasons, there are people that are bonzse players or on the line bronze to silver or on the line silver to gold players.

The line has been moved backwards so that people who were bronze and occasional silver may now be bronze and people that were silver occasion gold are now silver.

Now, the game is more interesting and more challenging no doubt about it but a some people can't seem to relate to players of lesser abilities.  Further to this, the fact that Credits = psp's people fall further behind the curve becasue they can't generate revenue and up the quality of their items.

New players won't know the difference. The main thing that will keep them from getting too into the game is the absurd amount of credits it takes to unlock stuff. Now that they removed the easiest, most common approaches to easy creds, starting from nothing is quite a task. The overwhelming majority of players won't be able to find decent enough **** to move up difficulties, since there are so many rares that unlocking any given rare is pretty unlikely. If you were just starting out and you REALLY wanted to play an Asari Justicar, how likely would it be that you could do so within a week's worth of play? THAT'S what will drive new players away.

Explain. What is harder ? New tech explosions ? New overpowered kits ? Nothing is harder.

New units maybe ? Bombers, okay, but Geth were already hard and no one continue to fight against them above silver. Reapers are now a joke with fire explosions and without magnet hand. Collectors are great, maybe just scions need a damage nerf. Dragoon is absolutely not so dangerous. Just learn to dodge.

Bioware keeps making multiplayer easier and easier.

Geth infiltrator, destroyer, now ghost turian, tech explosions making all engineers OP, new mods and gears..

Those aren't going to help new players. How could they? There are like  a billion rare unlocks at this point. Getting rare weapons to X will take forever, and character cards are actually pretty infrequent until you max your weapons.

Well. As mentioned before, only one type of play would be affected - the one's that cannot adapt.

On the other hand, if people are worried about MP scaring off new players, just give them a helping hand: Send them a message, communicate with them and help them get their gear up.

ME3 MP is team based; and for a team to work we have to help each other. Give the lower levels a hand now and then, this way you may even build up a pretty nice team. ;)

^This.

The game is harder. Period. For those who don't feel it, good for you. but most do, and once they are frustrated enough playing a level they use to be able to play and now can't they will leave. When this happens enough, the player base will drop and continue to drop. Once the base gets low enough the game is dead then even those who can handel the new 'challenge' will have to find a new game to play. End of story.

I would describe myself as intermediate(easily played golds and hold my own in platinum, dominated bronze and silver Not so much the former anymore) and i'm not really into it anymore. It used to be fun, but now its either insanely hard (even a silver against reapers killed all of my squad except me at one point, in the span of about 7 seconds) or impossible unless you have experience, good characters AND good weapons, the last two i am lacking, especially in terms of good, strong weapons.

Well another big problem is that when players finally do migrate from the SP, they tend to think they're playing the same game. Most are in for a rude awakening, then they scream the MP is too hard in the forums and people listen for some reason.

I thought playing Vanguard on Insanity in SP was sufficient preparation for Gold. Boy, was I wrong. XD

If I'm not mistaken, I believe someone here on the forum (don't really rember who sorry... :/) made some comparisons and it turns out SP Insanity is roughly on par with MP Silver difficulty (as far as enemy toughness is concerned)...
Meaning Gold and Platinum have enemies that are all round tougher than anything you'll find in SP...

What should compensate for that is the fact human controlled companions should be generally better than game controlled ones at just about anything...

Whats good/funny about all this talk of the game being harder due to the "cheating AI". With stun locks and unfair this and that. I wonder if there's still that small group of players that clamour for a PvP version of the MP.

Could you imagine? The AI is doing a fraction of what a skilled player could do to another player. So hopefully that little rebellion has been crushed in this process at least.

The game is harder, no surprise here, when you don't work with teammates that have mics. I consider myself a slightly above average player. The players I have on my friends list are about the same, and we recently went through some gold matches fairly quickly. Not speedrun fast, but pretty good for two friends and two randoms. We were all mic'd up, and there were explosions EVERYWHERE. Fire, cryo, tech, biotic, man it was beautiful. When we went down we revived each other, we called out our missle usage, etc. Made the matches go smooth as silk.

So yeah, PUG's are definitely gonna be harder, but the game itself still rewards teamplay as much, if not more, than before.
