Pwn has it on good authority that it's a bug. He's working on getting the actual quotes from the dev in question.

For what it's worth, I remember the same quote--but I just spent an hour trying to find it, and couldn't.

Let's see what happens here:

In the first shot we see you are taking some heavy shield damage, from what I believe is the Phantom you are aiming at. Your health is 3 bars.:

Again, second shot you are still taking damage to your shield. Health still at 3 bars:

In the third shot you manage to get away and your shield start replenishing. Health still at 3 bars:

Fourth shot you get caught again, losing shields. Health still at 3 bars:

On the fifth shot you have exhausted your shields and now your health is taking damage:

NOW:

Turian receives fire from 3 cannibals.

First shot and second shot. His SHIELDS are STILL THERE, but his health is taking damage:

What would have happened in August, when you recorded that video, if this "bug" was in effect like it is now? You would have died. In the second shot you would be dead.

Let's see what happens here:

In that bit, I took a total of three shots with pretty big delays between them, allowing the deplete animation for the shield bar to complete.

Now look at the bit that I pointed out (33:54):

Coming down the ladder, I'm fine.

The two phantoms (one in front and one way back) start taking out my shield.

Now they're taking out my health, despite a sliver of shields seemingly remaining. Then I die (killed by an off-screen guardian who nailed me the instant my health hit the critical health gate).

Total amount of time from when I first start taking damage until I die: 23 frames of video, or roughly 2/3rd of a second. How do you explain that if there was supposed to be a delay before the patch?

And remember, this was recorded in August, before the DLC and patch.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I do agree that something appears to be different about the shield/health gate than before. But I don't think we've really nailed down what it is yet.

From what I believe, you are comparing two totally different situations. You are falling down the stairs and a phantom first takes your shields, and then they take out your only bar of health available. Of course two phantoms are gonna take down an asari adept with only ONE health bar with melee attacks in 2/3rd of a second.

On the pics that i'm posting the turian (a far more durable character than the asari adept) is walking full health and full shields against three cannibals and his health starts taking damage even when his shields are almost at 20% percent (possibly even sooner, youtube doesn't allow much precision). How much damage can 3 cannibals do to a turian? More than two phantoms on an asari on a dying asari? You surely can't be serious

And you're not comparing like-for-like either. You're comparing a turian taking focused fire from several enemies, to a segment in my video where I take three shots from apparently a single phantom, with about a second delay between each shot.

Another example from a different video. At 13:13, I go from full health to dead in 43 frames, a little over 1.3 seconds. Where are these invincibility frames that were supposedly present before the patch? I've examined this video frame-by-frame, there are no shots taken at me that don't cause damage.

I'm not saying there was an " invincibility frames", I'm saying that shields were created to protect your health and now, they are not doing their job. Something is very wrong if three cannibals shooting at a turian can take more than 20% of his health  when there's almost 20% shields still in the bar. I would love to get the original video of that guy to pinpoint with more accuracy the EXACT moment where his health is taking damage and his "shields" still active.

Is that or now three cannibals can do more damage than two phantoms going full melee. Either way something is totally wrong.

But many people are saying exactly that: that there were invincibility frames and that those being gone is the difference.

I agree there is a difference, but based on my videos I don't think that (removal of invincibility frames) was it. That's all I'm trying to say. I'm sorry if I misled you.

I don't know where the devs are, but we need an answer. Now, the game feel cheap. I still able to win at platinum and gold, but it's not fun anymore. I don't take it like a challenge, but more like an insult. I will stay playing because I love this game, but certainly less. I am tire to use my consumables for nothing but dying. Alas, random games begin to be a nightmare most of the time: peoples quitting, dying, raging and again disconnecting from EA server. I really wish it's a bug and that it will be fix.

Yeah I'm noticing that my Fury and my Shadow are going down a lot faster now... and the fact that
enemies are faster in stomping you, I'm using a lot of medi-gels, I have very few medi-gels left now.
It's frustrating, get killed just a second after your shields go down.. and because some times you are lagging, I use a survival pack just seconds before going down, and it still uses the survival pack, giving me a lot of frustration.

you are overreacting...and no the game is not "broken" it feels unbalanced... and good luck trying to pull that on court.

I just shot some solo video with a krogan battle master and the bug hit. Also an example vid of how cheap the geth have gotten, not that bioware is even giving a ***** anymore.

*It seems at least from what I shot the bombers just stagger no matter what.

I made a thread specifically requesting Bioware comment and it was ignored like all the rest.  The fact that they can't even take the time to, at the very least, say that they're aware of it but can't comment is nothing short of a Reaper sized middle finger to all of us.
