1) About five minutes ago.

2) I have some friends who are big on code-monkeying and are seeing if they can figure out the actual cause. I don't know how successful they'll be at it, but that's the plan and absent of any official response, it's about the best we can hope for.

I'm using almost all my ops/gels every match since the patch hit. The game has become frustrating and tiring, also most of the time it's not worth the effort.

Please fix this, Bioware. You made so many new things to keep this game alive but because of this bug it's losing its fun factor fast.

I do see the problem here.
My Krosoldier does go down damn fast nowadays.
1.2k shields and health really ain't much against collectors with fortification up.
Also Dragoons SMGs do jack all to shields but when they hit health THEY HIT HARD!

I do think that there still was a shield gate sometimes. I actually would have preferred to still have glitches if it meant I could have my gates back.

Try using A KroSent. I can sponge that entire Reactor hazard, but i'll be damned if I can take bullets.

I used to be an OKish U/U/P player with asari expert. Since patch i have failed any attempt on U/U/P - mostly because if downed i experienced that being downed immediately after revive is vrey common now.

Shieldgate is still active to a point. If you are at full shields, or your shields are in the process of recharging, the shieldgate does work, however if you have been taking damage and your shields are low, damage tends to bleed over to health. Also I am pretty sure all enemy weapons have received a large boost in damage. And not to mention all of the staggering that happens from Geth. Even getting a grenade from a Bomber dropped on you staggers! Shieldgate or not, if you are out of cover, you drop.

Played some time yesterday and payed attention to my gates. And ,oh boy, are they inconsistent.

Testing was done with Krogan Soldier 1,5k shields and 1k health + 40%dmg reduction via fortification.

Health gate was actually working most of the time (if not all the time) but the shield gate was the prime evil here (not to confuse with the other Prime Evil :bandit:).

Shield in itself was also working, could take quite some punishment, but right when the shield gate was supposed to kick in, my health was already draining and I was fodder for the masses.


Will try to take screens next time, sorry 'bout that <_<

no wonder this is happening. any response? this makes the havoc soldier stim packs a must and actually better than medi-gels. no wonder i would die to phantom shots.

Also BW can you please make the Atlas, Phantom, and A LOT of other enemies projectiles actually visible. You can never see who shot you just that your're being shot.

Let's see what happens here:

In the first shot we see you are taking some heavy shield damage, from what I believe is the Phantom you are aiming at. Your health is 3 bars.:

Again, second shot you are still taking damage to your shield. Health still at 3 bars:

In the third shot you manage to get away and your shield start replenishing. Health still at 3 bars:

Turian receives fire from 3 cannibals.

What would have happened in August, when you recorded that video, if this "bug" was in effect like it is now? You would have died. In the second shot you would be dead.

The interesting thing to note here is that of all three incidents that 'prove' the gate problems (this pic series, another pic from Chardonney and the first Collector video), all three of them involved the new Turian character, who has, afaik, stim packs that increase the amount of shields.
Would make sense if that's what's messing with the gates.

Just helping keep this at the top, I also feel this needs to be addressed. Previously I could top the leaderboard on Silver using hardly any consumables and really enjoyed playing at that level, occasionally wandered in to Gold and usually successful there too when I felt like playing hard - now I'm using almost all my consumables and wiping quite frequently on Silver. It's not fun and I'm using 100% of my earned credits on Jumbo Equipment Packs just to restock, so at this point have 0 hope of unlocking new content.

I've half considered spending real money on packs, but feeling forced to do it, I'd rather not play until it's fixed. Which is a shame, because I feel like the DLC added so much fun stuff.

I don't know what SalvationThroughDestruction got, but when I asked yesterday, I got a solid 'we're investigating, I personally don't know anything and you can make of this answer whatever you want'.

Bryan's right though, he's not on the balance/mechanics team, he does the maps.  The most he can do is relay the message to the correct people.  Even Eric may not be able to offer much of a statement since it's primarily the balance guy.  I'm not sure if he's involved in the underlying code of the game which likely needs to be looked at.

I doubt this was an intended balance change, and most of the patch changes they missed listing in the notes were pretty minor things.  Breaking the Gates completely changes the way the game plays out.

I really think it's their policy.

I would really, really like an official, public acknowledgment that it's a bug (rather than an intentional change to the mechanics), and that they're looking into how to fix it. But fixing it requires reliably reproducing it, locating the interacting elements of code, and figuring out how to re-establish the old mechanic without breaking anything else. That's a time-consuming process, and in the past (e.g., the Vanguard glitch, magnet hands, etc.) they've been reluctant to even acknowledge that bugs exist until there's a fix in the works.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I understand why they won't/can't comment... I just wish they could.
