Ahhh, nothing says fun like a good ol' fashion hate-****. The kind you have with an ex who you are still lighting flaming bags of dog **** on their doorstep. Yes. It is totally possible to have a good time physically and sexually with someone you want to brutally mutilate on any other occasion.

I myself rather hope QAlistair did have some fun while making Morrigan Jr. Because the worst part of the ritual for me was asking him to do it in the first place. His reaction is too much. So I hope his hate sex with Morrigan is as awesome as the hate sex I remembver. :)

On second thought. What I said wasn't a joke lol

Wow, uh... I totally lost my train of thought there.  [/alistair]  LOL

Need I remind anyone that Alistair is... Alistair.  He won't even sleep with a warden he loves until a) he's convinced it's meaningful, B) he might die and it's time to go for gold, etc.  He takes some convincing to do a threesome.  He tells the warden that he hopes she's his last. The kind of mindset y'all are describing is not our boy.  If you want to say this was all a sham, ok I guess, but evidence seems thin on the ground.

I have no particular opinion on the event itself - what *really* annoyed me was the unrealistic portrayal of getting Morrigan pregnant.  The night before the battle was not the time to do it - she just wouldn't have been pregnant the following morning.  The egg may have been fertilized but pregnant she wasn't.  But there was a very good chance the egg wouldn't be fertilized anyway at that stage.  When M proposed it, I thought "that's a completely ridiculous and impractical plan.  The odds of it working as described are minimal."  Completely destroyed my suspension of disbelief.  It's like that part of the story was written by a five year old with a five year old's understanding of how babies are made.  "The mummy and the daddy love each other very much and then the mummy has a baby."  Instantly, without any of the biological bits in between.  Ridiculous (and stupid).  I had to make myself press the relevent option in the dialogue with my eyes closed and teeth gritted.

And here we go again, lol. People will never stop seeing things IF people WANT to see them.

That's it.

It wasn't the night before the battle. That was the night before they left Redcliffe. Then they had a forced march to Denerim, which I am gonna guess takes 3-4 days. Moving an army slows things, so my money would be on more like 4-5 days at least.

Hey LadyDamodred, you must be right. I thought we were in Denerim when it happened but it mustn't have been because we started fighting as soon as we got there. I'm nearly finished with Awakenings and I must've forgotten the time details. It's still a bloody stupid plan though.

A wizard did it.

Seriously, that's at least partially what the magical part of the Ritual is for - fertility and ensuring Morri gets pregnant.

Besides, Denerim is something like a week away, isn't it?

I don't know how far it is, actually, and I wish to hell I did. It would make things easier to figure out, especially when writing fanfic. I think a week moving at a good pace seems reasonable. You can push harder of course, but that's balanced by the fact that an army does not move efficiently. Just one of the unknown things that annoys me.

The darkspawn were 3 days away from Denerim, when we were at Redcliff. It's unlikey they were at Denerim for more than a day before our forces arrive (unless there was an extensive siege of the city, but we never see siege equipments).

So I would say it took us 4-5 days to get there. Forced march.

Well, Riordan says the horde is 2 days away (unless my brain is broken) and Alistair says we cannot get to Denerim in 2 days to stop them from sacking the city. That makes it at least 3 days, but there's nothing to indicate how long it actually takes. To me, it seems like it takes longer than that. Or, given how far Denerim and Redcliffe are from each other, it shoudl take longer than that. I know Ferelden is not a huge country, but going from Redcliffe -> Denerim in 3 days with an army makes it absurdly tiny.

Was it 2 days? Hmmm sorry about that.
Then it's 3-4 days.

I am mostly basing this on the fact that I find it weird that the darkspawn were at Denerim for 2-3 days and yet they still hadn't reached the alienage.
The Mongols razed Baghdad to the ground in just 3 days. I don't think they are better than the darkspawn at this.

But all this makes little sense. What army in the world lacks a mobile cavalry corps?
 Meeh.

If it makes you feel better, Addai, the toolset seems to reinforce the fact that Alistair just does not like Morrigan. It's not hate-lust, or secret love-hate. It just seems to be normal dislike between two snarky people who are forced to travel together. And, uh, made to have sex with one another.

Literalists, sheesh.  If all she needed was a fertilized egg, she had plenty of time.  Her discussion with you is not meant to be obstetrical.

And it is a magic ritual, yes?

After the act, he might express disgust. But I find it unlikely he was actually disgusted during the act.

*facepalm*

So are you implying that men can't be raped? Riiight. Continue being awesome, guy.

Ejaculation is an involuntary physiological reaction. It isn't always within conscious control, you know.

He wouldn't have been able to get up in the first place if he truly hated every second of it during the act itself.

I'm leaning towards the hate-sex camp myself. That sounds exactly like what Alistair and Morrigan would be doing during the ritual.

Are you trying to troll me, or do you truly not understand?

Now hate-canoodling... that would be Loghain's forte, I guess.

Forget popping the heat sink (you may thank Garrus for that wonderful euphemism), Alistair wouldn't have even been able to maintain an erection if at least some part of his mind and body wasn't aroused and interested. There would have thus been no climax for him, no baby for Morrigan, and no survivng getting his or her soul kamikazed for the Warden.

Unless Morrigan used one the alternatives being discussed above, but we should probably get off that topic as soon as possible.

Due to mutual physical attraction they both probably enjoyed the act of sex itself, but it was a night of passion without any emotion. The kind of thing that you may do under unusual circumstances, but once you wake up in the morning you'll go on your way and never look back on it.

Are you sure about that? Image IPB

Well, I could say it differently. Although I might not survive the fangirl rage that is sure to follow. ;)

Are we playing the same game?  LOL  It's often done in a joking way, but neither of them misses an opportunity to lambaste the other, either directly to their faces or in conversation.

I'm not denying they dislike each other, but calling it hate would be pushing the whole thing too far.
The only person in the game that Alistair truly hates is Loghain, as is shown by his reaction at the Landsmeet.

He will also tell you in the same conversation that she's evil, and try to warn you against having a relationship with her.

That doesn't mean he can't find her physically atractive.

Morrigan asks the female PC about the sexual performance of Zevran, too, and I assume Leliana.  As for the banter about Goldanna, not sure how you can construe Alistair saying "you'd get along great" to be anything but their ongoing mutual gripefest.

From Alistair's point it IS a gripefest since he doesn't want to see Goldanna for what she truly is, and the fact that the person pointing this out is someone he personally dislikes doesn't make it any easier.
Your PC has the option to tell him the very same thing and he'll accept it without question, since you are his friend/LI.

Can't agree with your slant.  Obviously there had to be some physical stimulation on Alistair's part, but "passion"?  LOL  No way.  Even the way he talks about the ritual afterward, he gets this look and tone of distaste.

To be perfectly honest I don't think either of them are thrilled by the idea of sleeping with each other for the reasons I've already stated.
That however doesn't mean that they couldn't have found the experience arousing enough for Alistair to end up impregnating Morrigan.

As a Morrigan fan I can understand your distaste of the whole ritual thing, but you can at least look forward to 6 month of bliss with Alistair after the Archdemon is slain.
My PC losses Morrigan no matter what..

Are you implying that Morrigan raped Alistair?

Under normal circumstances, it's very unlikely for someone to physically enjoy an act like htis, while mentally hating it.

no you're right...a lot of men sleep around or cheat because they have a weak will and can't push aside the urges their "control rod" gives them....not that it's excusable..it's not..but for men there's an underlying drive.

when women sleep around..they do it because they can...or because they're not happy with their current S.O. (be it husband, boyfriend, friend)..there is no underlying driving force for them to ignore to stay faitful and not **** around.

or in other words..careful with your backhanded insults to men....at least men can say "hey I'm a guy, and I have no self control over my penis"..whereas women can only say "I'm a ****"

You think women have no sex-drive? Really? Wow!

whatever you two have to tell yourselves..

I never said women had no sex drive...want to make an argument agaisnt what I said don't idiotically put words in my mouth. And you also have no clue what I do or don't know about women..so I laugh at your presumption that does nothing but make you look like you lack intelligence.

other then that..I'm not even getting into that conversation here...my comment was to the moron that posted what I quoted...

but thanks to you two for responding..it proves a point...sexism is ok when it's against men..but OH NO NO..don't post something that can be bent to being a sexist comment against women.

lol are you two serious?
