Why do you assume that this would be a one-after-the other thing?
I had something else in mind.

Wow. I'm afraid to see how this is going to go down... but intrigued.

I'm somewhat disappointed by the lack of Alistair going into fetal position on the bed as Morrigan leaves at the end of the cutscene, shivering and sucking his thumb.

Well the room might be a problem, that´s true. But then, people will be quite close at each other, so we would actually save room. Imagine we *didnt* celebrate. We had to find private, separated rooms for all the people mentioned. This way we always have the great hall.

Awwwww....but bad girls are more fun =(

I think, throughout the game, that there's this attraction between Alistair and Morrigan that both despise themselves for. Especially on Alistair's part. I mean, Morrigan's walking around with most of her chest exposed, and he's a virgin, used to the non-rambunctious Chantry life. His mind would be constantly going *there*, even if he tried desperately for it not to. So he retreats behind snarky dialogue and tries to convince himself that there aren't any sparks there. Not that he would want anything from her other than a quick roll, but I'm sure that quick roll enters his mind more than once and he seriously doesn't like that.

I got a little more insight into this recently as I did a male human noble playthrough, romancing Morrigan. When Alistair has the "what do you think of our companions" conversation, he talks about your relationship with Morrigan, and there's an option to state that he's jealous. And strangely enough, he never actually denies being jealous. :)

So at the end, does he like the act with Morrigan? I think part of him does, yes. If he's in love with the Warden, I think he probably feels a huge amount of guilt before and after (for being with someone else, and then for *liking* it), but during the act itself, I have no doubt that his brain turns off.

He agreed quite quickly to the request, so yes, I do think he thought about it before, and I think he enjoyed it as well. Morrigan is not repulsive after all, she's a very good looking woman.

Other than that, I like Loghain's reaction and Morrigan's comeback to the PC's request best.

This thread is golden, btw. It's too funny.

OMG, I just spit out my cappuccino laughing so hard.  .........so that's my husband's problem, hmmm............  Men should be multi-tasking like women.  We can think of a dozen other things during sex (grocery lists, shopping for shoes, what to cook for dinner, would my hair look better if I cut it, pretending it's Alistair instead of my husband *hee hee, just joking honey*). I actually said that women are no better when it comes to some things, in their own way. I prefer the way men think, its much less complicated.

The look on his face and his character makes me feel that if he really enjoyed it, he'd hate himself for doing so and want to scrub his skin off with lye.

Poor thing.

If he'd had a determined look on his face like "Okay, let's get this over with..." I'd have thought maybe he'd make the best of it, so to speak, but he didn't.

I don't think I'd have enjoyed sleeping with Morrigan. Her entirely un-sexy "'Tis cold in my tent" is the biggest turn off in the game. That she thinks so incredibly hot yet is so very, very bad at actually being hot...for me, anyway. I love her character. I find her entirely un-sexy though.

I guess I can just consider how unsexy she is to me, so I ascribe that to Alistair. And if she drugs him or hypnotizes him or is somehow deeply appealing to him, that's about as much fun as me being roofied at a frat party and walking out thinking that was so hot...

Just...ugh.

No, I don't think he enjoyed it voluntarily. His body might have. But I think that probably made it worse.

Oooh, drugged, yes that's good.  Can we please pretend that Morrigan drugged him with some mildly poisonous swamp plants and that as soon as she blew out the candle he just passed out and missed the whole thing.  That would make me feel so much better about the whole thing.

Course he enjoyed it, he takes just after his father. Reason he liked being a Templar was because it meant he got to spend a lot of time near mages.

The whole thing with Morrigan is their way of flirting with one another and secretly behind the Warden's backs it is them two that have been doing the most spying whilst canoodling themselves.

Some people are so blind to the truth hehe

Yeah, let the "Grey Warden Stamina" take care of that while he's unconscious.

I do get that men and women can be completely emotionally detached from sex and deal with it on a friction basis.  Alistair's character doesn't strike me as such though.  I think it's a "macho" ideal to be always ready and willing for anything with a pulse, but I find in reality it's not true.  There are values and preferences, and not every hot woman is an ideal encounter sexually.  For me personally there are plenty of "hot men" that I wouldn't touch with a borrowed pole.  I think Alistair prefers the idealistic emotional attachment and I'm the same by nature.  I prefer intimacy over friction.

I know lots of men who genuinely feel the same, though they'll also say that the pressure's on to always be ready all the time, it's expected of a man to be a dog.  Once the heart and mind gets involved in the sex thing, it's hard to lowball yourself and go for just the sex with no attachment otherwise.  She lets you know that love and affection are illusions and that just makes her...tragically dumb.  And sleeping with the tragically dumb isn't...fulfilling.  It's Twinkie sex.  No nutritive value.

Yeah, this is pretty much how I see it.  I'm sure there's some physical attraction, and yeah, after a bit your brain turns off anyway. But before and after, I do not think Al was a happy soul.

Poor guy. My PC gives him cuddles afterwards to make it better.

Like I was trying to explain to that certain person, it sorta depend prolly on wether or not Alistair is hardened, is in a relationship with the PC or not, etc  Even though the writer said he would probably enjoy having sex with a beautiful woman, I am inclined to think otherwise for Alistair and [certain woman], simply because they hate each other.  Some men may enjoy sex w/ a hawt woman, regardless of wether or not he liked her.  But I think Alistair, hardened or not, would not be the kind of guy who would.  He would appreciate looking but that's it, imo.

Apparently if you play as a male, though, Zevran catches [her] coming out of Alistair's tent, and makes  a suggestive remark.  I bet she was just tormenting him, however.  Those two together are just plain odd.  He's not the brightest bulb in the box, but surely he wouldn't torment himself, just for some action??

I much agree on this. Not all men want mere sex, and not all of them could even 'perform' in such a situation. Especially if the man is young, nervous and has not had much experience. Thus I myself tend to think that the ritual involved some sort of aphrodisiac to make poor Alistair function at all. ;) And if he's in love with the female PC, well, there's the guilt part too.

Besides, where in the game does it state, that Morrigan would be experienced either? Sure, her mother is, and that's what is planned for her as well, but how often has Morrigan been with people at all? Other than watched them in animal form or stalked them or just plain observed them. She acts as if she'd be really experienced, but she says and acts a lot of things she obviously isn't. ;) And women can be like that as much as men, you know.

I don't deny though that Alistair couldn't have enjoyed it. That one second that something probably happened. :P

I don't disagree with you in the slightest. But I do think that Alistair will do anything to save his love and his "brother", Riordan, from possibly dying. I've been through the "persuasion" discussion a few times now, always telling Al the truth about the ritual and not using the persuade option. Although he says at first that he can't go through with it, he does eventually tell you that if it means a chance of saving the PC and/or Riordan, he'll do it. He views it as his duty.

And, in that case, I think it's very much a "close your eyes and think of Ferelden" kind of situation.

I do wish there was a chance to talk to him about it afterwards, though, to get his true take on it.
