I played the game for almost a week. Then all of a sudden my DVD rom has stopped reading the disc. ALL other disc work fine. I have found others with the same problem, But, nobody offered up a solution. What would cause it to just stop recognizing the DVD?

Not sure what's the best solution, but I've found that ejecting and reinserting the disc two or three times has solved the problem for me. I do worry about what's causing the problem; whatever it is seems specific to the Dragon Age DVD, perhaps some Tages-like mechanism.

As far as I know the game is unprotected and only has a regular check to see if the dvd is inserted. But I guess copy protections from other games can cause problems like mess up the filters for the drive in the registry. But it can even be dust/dirt in the drive, on the lens etc. Other times you have to update the firmware for it to read the media, but since it worked before this is probably not the case. I guess you can try removing the drive and/or even the controller for the drive in device manager then reboot and have windows install it again. But as a general rule create a restore point before hand.
These links might help, but create a backup of the registry first, instructions on how to do so should be in the link too.
