This was a big mistake in previous two titles. You could make a character that looked like old sod (sorry people), but you were in every Origin treated as youngster. In Hawke case its even worse, when you look like your own mother granny.

So now Bioware - STOP, and think please!!! If you are letting us start as newbie to Inquisition, its very likely our characters should be youngsters - so there is NO POINT in wasting time to create OLD AGE textures for main character (and putting them in Character Creator in the first place!!!).

If we start as leaders of Inquisition off the bait - i assume we won't be "young one" anymore, and more likely a characters of age between 35-40 or more - so again there is NO reason to waste resources on creating textures (or god forbid models) for young PC characters.

That's your opinion. Some people like looking like old sods. I don't get it, but BioWare is never gonna limit us to creating a younger looking character, because they like allowing us to choose how we look. It limits not only appearance but roleplay as well. Don't ask me how, 'cause I don't know.

Your opinion is not gonna sway them. The sad fact is, no matter how good your ideas are, BW won't listen unless lots and lots of people support it. Not surprisingly, you seem to be the only one who really cares about this. Myself, I just scorn these players for bad character design and get over it.

You "scorn" other players for their playstyle or RP choices? Wow. Should I scorn you for your choice of LI or hairstyle?

Yes please! I will always choose to look young because I am 18 but it should be an option to choose your age.

They're going to need old and young textures for some characters, even if not the PC. So I don't see the harm in making them available to the player.

Generally, I'm much more annoyed by options being needlessly denied to the player than them being allowed.

I mean if we are an adult in the game we really shouldn't be called youngsters

I heard Hawke was meant to be 25 at the start of the game....so why does the default male look about 35? But honestly...it wouldnt matter so much if they would scrap the family, which i wouldnt mind.

They should add sliders for age in the cc, so that npcs could act accordingly. Its so immersionbreaking when your weary, old mage it adressed as a youngster. While theyre at it they could add a slider for looks as well, so that your old crone aint refered to as a hottie.

i.e.: In DAOs human noble origin, your age could determine wether you start of as Lord/Lady Cousland or, as the case is in DAO, as one of his/her children.

Looks are massively subjective so it would have to be seperate from the CC, just a slider that effects in game reactions that you can set where you like. The age one sounds nice though.

The warden was the commander of the grey wardens in ferelden at only 21 so why would you assume the inquisitor must be old?

Also I'd like to note that in every entry thus far, the protagonist has always been younger than all the LI so assuming Cassandra's a possible LI due to high demand, I'd put our inquisitor in his/her mid/late twenties.

This is what I meant. The look slider should not alter the looks, but how people respond to you, but you should be able to set the level of attractiveness as you create your char. If anyone wants an ugly char to be seen as attractive, then by all means...but it shouldnt be forced on you.

Race before age, IMO. Though I do feel like laughing when my character looks older than Duncan in DAO.

If they stay away from age-implying story elements (such as putting your parents in), it shouldnt be much harder to make NPCs respond in accordance with a characters age, than it is with responding to race or gender. All it would take is small alterations of dialogue.

Leandra mentions caring for bethany or carver for 18 years placing them at the both at age of 18 since they're twins and Hawke was born a year earlier referencing legacy, that would place her at 19 during Da2's beginning.

Merrill who was already an adult during the Dalish warden's origin story over the course of the same time period, I'm assuming was 20 like the warden since they were apparently really close friends.

The wiki says "Hawke is roughly 24 or 25 at the start of Act I. Gamlen states that Leandra left with Malcolm 25 years ago and Malcolm states that Leandra was pregnant when they left."

So i thought was 25, its a good explanation too..it would be weird Hawke being 19 when the default make looks in his 30's

True, but it's kinda akward looking 60 and your mother calling you son or child .... or Bethany calling your brother.

Hrm.

As a fan of making older characters I support a simple "Never have an NPC call me young or old." Just... let me make them as young or old as I want and everyone treat them the same.

The character I use for my first playthrough of every single game is 51 years old. I really hate it when games insist that he is not, in fact, 51 years old.

Says you. My Inquisitor keeps to a very strict skin regimen.
