I'd say a fairly wide range of facial ages should be available, so you can play however you like. I'd tend to prefer to play a character around 25 or so, but if somebody else wants to be a 50 year old inquisitor, why not? I say go for it.

It's good to see 'ageism' alive and well on the forums. It's a rare treat from the overt sexism, religion bashing or play style arguments!

Maybe just being considerate should be a commonality in the character design. So other's can roleplay being more-so...

I support being able to choose your age.

Yes please! I will always choose to look young because I am 18 but it should be an option to choose your age.

I'd support even more strongly the ability to choose your ACTUAL age instead of just your COSMETIC age.  I wouldn't even care if the two were mechanically separate--if you want to look 17 and "be" 75, go for it.  I'd like my character to be able to look 35 and be 35.  And preferably not come with a "mother" who also mysteriously looks 35 but with gray hair and the body of a 24-year-old.

But, eh, it's a (relatively) minor feature, and if they don't have time/resources for it, I'll cope.

If origins come back in DA3, maybe playing an old character could be made a distinct one? (not necessarily for all races and classes)
Applied to DA:O, for example, it could have given a 7th origin : An old human commoner (why not play as the old priestess in Redcliffe Chantry?)
So we could have the experience of playing a very old person, without making the world less responsive to our characters.

The problem is they treat it as a minor affair, we accept whatever we have to, and move on. I doubt there is anything else to do, but I would really like to adjustable and set age.

Maybe is they include background traits (ala ME, I mean, they borrowed all the ****e from ME, why not something that isn't terrible - NB: this could also include a BLANK SLATE option), they could have determination of age. So if you had a runaway apprentice background, you could be young. If you had retired city guard background, you could be older and so on.

This would be at the very very very bottom of my wish list.   I can think of a lot of options I'd rather have than having a range of age choices between 18 and 65.  Also I don't know how that would affect the dialogue or the story itself.

And how would that work with the romances (Yes very important story wise).  LI of all ages for cougars, pumas playboys and old men and women.  Also what the character has for a background should be a consideration.  Shepard was a Lt Commander and her age, somewhere around 27, worked.  My Warden was the younger child so I figured she would be in her early 20's and Hawke the oldest in her family so maybe 25 - 27, with very good genes since she didn't age.

I have always been satisfied with the age of the characters they have given me.  For me the option for making them look older or rougher, has always just been the idea that some people look older than others and some have had a harder life.    Definitely at the very bottom of my - this is important - list. :)

This was a big mistake in previous two titles. You could make a character that looked like old sod (sorry people), but you were in every Origin treated as youngster.

IIRC from the toolset, every PC was exactly 20 years of age...

Besides... just because they give you the option to look old does not mean you have to make yourself look old...

Every one of my characters (both for PC with mods and 360) looked their ages. I hardly ever used most of the customization options... I like my character to look attractive, otherwise I will be wondering why my companions all think I am prett when I have short gray stubble hair, bags under my eyes, blotches on my face and a giant hook nose...
