Well since launch, there's 35 Gears, 22 extra characters (23 if you count BF3 Soldier), 14 mods (Could be wrong here, might be more but I can't remember), and 12 (13 if inc Collector Rifle) dlc weapons. Total new weapons would be higher if you added in the argus / raider / ppr for example.UpirNoir wrote...

I wouldnt know i cant access it.
I dont understand how it is harder...you will require the same amount of credits i used to unlock all of my rares over time.
The pool being larger doesnt affect anything except the fact that you and I will need to spend more credits.
Newcomers will actually unlock more items than i would as im at the stage now where all i get is level 4 ammo hence why i buy limited PSP's here and there until more DLC is released.
It's harder for newcomers to get as many credits, for one, because farming methods have been substantially nerfed. Back when we could Sabotage geth farm or do FBWGG before the Geth got ridiculous it was comparatively easy to make money without needing to be good.

Ok let me explain this. Let's say at the beginning there was a total of 15 rare weapons with ten levels each, 5 rare characters with 5 levels each, 5 equipment with 5 each, and 10 weapon upgrades with 5 levels each. That makes up a pool of 250 rare cards. Later everything has doubled, so now there are 500 rare cards. You see where this is getting ? Am I missing something here ?Evo_9 wrote...

I have the Xbox 360 version, and have had it since launch. I've used some real world money towards MS points just to buy packs (laugh if you will, it comes in handy when I get asked for advice from all my friends). Now I will state this, the system does not seem entirely random. I've had friends unlock weapons I've been wanting for months at a rather low N7 rank (under 1,000), while I still open pack after pack and get pointless stuff I don't need. I wouldn't mind completely new packs, designed towards Weapons, Characters, and Bonuses. This way, people can buy that pack and be better guaranteed to get something they actually want, rather then get something useless.

On topic:
What about DLC specific Spectre packs? Pay 80K credits and they'll give you rares and ultrarares specific to that DLC.

The same common and uncommon "stuff" is out there for new folks, but some really cool new "stuff" (plus some so-so new "stuff") are available now, that were not there at the beginning. So? That doesn't prevent you from playing the game, it doesn't prevent you from having fun.
What it does is extend the life of the game, since there is more stuff to unlock and upgrade, for those who see that as the objective. For those of us who just like playing the game, getting cool new toys is seen a fun side benefit and something to look forward to, not an end unto itself. New/redesigned maps, new characters and new factions are much more significant, imo, to making the game fun, which is why I play it. Ultimately they will play a bigger role in extending the life of the game than the weapons (or broader "stuff").
Edit add: "stuff" defined as weapons, gear and mods, plus maybe the new ammo.

I'm in the no-harrier boat with you with close to 500 hours played somehow. I'd love changes that make the store more appealing to people missing URs with maxed manifests otherwise. I quickly regret putting money back into micro transactionsfor that slim chance, but ended up with consumables.
It's funny how it is more time effecient to go to work, get paid, and spend some earnings on these packs than to grind creds in a normal game. That birthed farmers.

Incorrect. It is an investment in maxed out rares.
Lets say i paid 30 million credits for this investment, then some newcomer can come along and got the same manifest for 15 million credits.
Ive just lost 15 million credits. In what world is that fair.
Is this why america is bankrupt? lol

Yes please! This way people can eventually get what they want! Hell, if I were still a newbie, I'd throw some money at that.
Who else would happly throw money at a system that will reward you eventually, rather than one that could never give you what you want? I'm sure tons of people will.

They should make the oldest Rare items Uncommon when they add new Rare items. Seems pretty logical to me.
Also, as a newcomer to MP, I agree with the sentiment of this thread.
Or the Rares that are regarded as bad by the community.
I like the oldest rares into uncomon but it won't make the situation better with uncommon pool is filled with more bad weponds...

* Soldiers Pack :Assault rifle amps , Soldier class cards higher chance to drop an Assault Rifle / shotguns
* Powers Pack : Pistols , SMGs , Warp ammo, power amps higher chance to unlock Biotic / Tech class
* Infiltration pack / stealth : Sniper rifle's , Sniper Rail amps , Targeting VI , higher chance to unlock Infiltrator class
*DLC Challenge pack : available only during weekend challenges , very high chance to unlock a new character / weapon following the release of a new DLC. (( Limit of maybe 1 per person ? not sure )) otherwise have a new DLC char in the Weekend victory / commendation pack following release like they did for other DLCs
This goes without saying having a sprinkling of random items from all classes / DLCs etc in every pack to retain the RNG without negatively impacting sales.
should at least broadly speaking narrow down options a little and (( hopefully )) let newer players get access to stuff they want to unlock without the totally random nature of the current store system

the pool is the same size for everyone. How is it harder for a newcomer?
will it not require roughly the same amount of credits for both parties?
it will require the same amount of time for a newcomer to unlock the same things i did,. The only variable is skill ofcourse.

Yes, the pool is the same size now for everyone. But if you started at the beginning, the pool was smaller for you then, that way it was easier to get a decent gun up to level X.

He's saying players that date back to release like me have less stuff cluttering the RNG pool assuming I had old weapons and characters maxed already. It could take the around the same amount of creds, but there's no denying older players had a head start, so when new content gets released, there's a gurantee each PSP has a feature of the new content If you had everything up to rare maxed out. New players run the risk of just getting Arc Pistols, and GPR until they're maxed before seeing something like a TGI.

Ok answer me this.
Will it require roughly the same amount of time and credits, assuming similar skill levels, to max out rares?
