It's not easier, it's harder as has been explained many times. It was easier for day one players.

As a new player, I'd have to agree. I think there should just be separate packs for characters, weapons, gear etc. at different price points.

THERE ALREADY ARE!! THEY ARE CALL RECRUIT, VETERAN, SPECTRE AND PREMIUM SPECTRE PACKS.

I BOUGHT THE GAME JUST OVER 2 MONTHS AGO AND LOOK AT MY MANIFEST. YOU START BUYING RECRUIT PACKS UNTIL YOU GET THAT FILLED, THEN MOVE TO VETERAN, THEN... hopefully you get the point by now. It is not hard. Stop the whining because you want access to every aspect of the game without working toward it. When you get your first ultra rare you will be ecstatic and try it out with many classes and it will be rewarding. You all are complaining because you want only what you do not already have and are thus unhappy until you fill out your manifest which takes time and work which you do not want to put into this game apparently.

Here is the distinction I tried to make in the OP. On my xbox profile, I have been playing since launch, and when new DLC comes out, I unlock the new characters pretty quick because I have mostly stayed on top of my manifest, unlocking and maxing each set of kits with a couple weeks after they each released.

Now, on my PC profile, it will be months before I will likely unlock some of my favorite rare characters, like the Fury, or similar time frames before I even see all of the new Retaliation characters. Same thing goes for weapons. The smaller pool at launch meant I would max several rares withing a couple weeks. Now, I'll probably not max any rares for at least a couple months, let alone the rares I'm most interested in. The pool is just too large, too daunting for me to stay interested that long without getting frustrated and pulling out what little hair I have left. The same frustration would be experienced by new comers and people who have less time to play, even if they have been playing since launch.

Keep the random system by all means, but diversify the packs into specific categories so I can focus on maxing just one group at a time if I want, unlocking a weapon or character with somewhat more ease or chances.

I just came back from a pretty long break, from before Earth, and I'm amazed by all the new stuff that's been added. It's great that BioWare keeps adding loads of content to the MP (for free), but this now means that the amount of stuff available is getting pretty huge and that yes, this is a little overwhelming for newcomers (or returnees like me).

BS, look at my previous post. You all just want everything right now so are whining to BW to get it. Find a class you enjoy playing and get good at it, start doing Gold runs.

Bronze has become harder with last dlc which will make it harder for new character to enjoy the game as well as earn credits.
I found game daunting enough when i started... Hated it when I wasnt contributing to match cos low lvl weapons gear (and skills mind)

Thank god.

Your post just says it's possible, not that it's the same difficulty. No one is saying it's impossible for a new player to max their manifest, since it doesn't look like you've paid attention to anything said in this thread.

It really seems some people don't understand the simplest logic of odds....

I can understand not agreeing with allowing newcomers to have it as easy as day one players, but simple reading comprehension shouldn't be such a challenge...

well basically the way the progression is designed players should start off on bronze and buy recruit packs, then after awhile start buying veterans while still playing bronze or moving to silver.

i dont see why newcomers think they should be able to constantly buy specters and premiums like the people that have went through the progression stages.

i dont see this as me being selfish, its the progression design in almost every single game.
i for 1 did the progression stages i explained, i never did complain when i was on bronze about how much stuff gold players had.

everyone wants to cross the finish line, but some people dont want to begin at the starting line like everyone else had to.

For starters, they (Bioware) should not call it a "store".  A store is where I go and buy specific items that I want.  Like in the SP game.  If they don't have it, I don't buy.  The MP "store" is more like a scratch-off lotto ticket, or a slot machine, or those trading card booster packs.  The least they can do is call it rain.

Second, the so-called "RNG".  I have posted a few times about the patterns that I have had in the store.  I got bored the other day, and figured out the odds of those patterns happening in true random settings.  Lets just say that I'd have better chances of winning every powerball jackpot for the rest of my life. If you want to see the number, just do (2^53)/(105!) (that's 2 raised to the 53rd divided by 105 factorial).

My personal thoughts for the store is that it should be a hybrid system.  You have 2 parts: 1) the packs we have now, possibly with new types of packs.  2) specific item store.
The specific item store would be significantly more expensive than the "random" store.  That way, people can either pay through the nose for what they want (I actually wouldn't mind dropping some microsoft points to get myself a Harrier), or go the cheaper route and possibly get what they want for much less.  :wizard:

But I agree.  The store as is is waaaaay too daunting for newcomers.

The analogy would be if newcomers' starting lines were pushed farther back than day one players'. Not that I expect you to understand this simple concept....

IT IS EASY FOR A NEWCOMER.

Start with bronze/silver and max out your common/uncmmon's. The pool has not grown at all at that level.

you dontt need a CLAYMORE X!!!!! to clear bronze/silver.

Once you start clearing silver with ease move to gold and before you know it you can afford spectre packs.

too many here have manifest envy and want everything straight away.

Sorry folks, do the hard road like everyone else.

Bioware could see some immediate returns with a pack layout like that. Not only would older players who grinded over the months to be ahead will have more incentive to pay for packs  since you're not just throwing 3 dollars/an hour of your time, and praying to be lucky, but new players would have to go through at least 2 different categories of packs that could be oh-say...  at least 60k creds each (or price could even scale with manifest completion, going higher the more likely you are to get rares/URs!). Of course this is assuming we keep the 'no capped weapons/characters from boxes' rule.

True, you don't need a Claymore X to clear Bonze and Silver. You don't even need it to clear Gold (though it helps). But is much harder to clear Gold with a Scimitar X than with a Claymore X (just to stay with the Shotguns). And for people now to get a Claymore X it is much harder than for people who started at the beginning. that is just a simple question of odds.

And again: I'm not argueeing for my sake. My manifest is nearing completion (of the 22 rare guns only 9 are not at lvl X, 4 of which were added within the last 2 weeks --> Argus, Raider, Collector Assault Rifle and Collector Sniper Rifle)

Yes, that's exactly what we're saying. You got handed maxed out rare weapons after x  amount of credits, whereas newcomes are getting no where near maxed weapons with the same amount of credits. I'm glad you finally get it.

In my opinion, what BioWare should do is this: Instead of the current system allow us to pick what we want in the packs. For example: In each respective pack you are given a certain number of items, so you can choose an ammo mod, armor mod, weapon mod, then the choice of a gear, char, or weapon. All of this for the price of whatever you really pay for.

If it's a veteran pack, you get 20ks worth of what you want = uncommon things.
PSP: You can PICK which ultra rare you want. This way people can spend real money to add credits with which to buy what they want.

I mean There are characters I'm never going to touch. I hate all of the Vanguard characters. I will never used them ever again. Why should I be forced to unlock Vanguards, Adepts, and Soldiers if I rarely use them at all?

Please look up the words "easy" and "easier" to see the difference. That will help immensely with understanding the points in this thread.

I do have a question about starting all over again. I did this on PC, had xbox since launch, but I did it months ago so there was less stuff to unlock when I started over.

Where are the rocket/medigel/survial pack/thermal clip upgrades unlocked? If they are in Specter or PSP packs then they might be hard to get.
