They're rares, but I don't know if they're in the same pool as weapons and characters. They seemed to unlock much quicker when I was maxing them.ryoldschool wrote...
I do have a question about starting all over again. I did this on PC, had xbox since launch, but I did it months ago so there was less stuff to unlock when I started over.
Where are the rocket/medigel/survial pack/thermal clip upgrades unlocked? If they are in Specter or PSP packs then they might be hard to get.

IT IS EASY FOR A NEWCOMER.
Start with bronze/silver and max out your common/uncmmon's. The pool has not grown at all at that level.
you dontt need a CLAYMORE X!!!!! to clear bronze/silver.
too many here have manifest envy and want everything straight away.
Sorry folks, do the hard road like everyone else.
Well thats just awesome! but i was replying to a newcomer, so p-off and stop replying to me!!!!!

Once you start clearing silver with ease move to gold and before you know it you can afford spectre packs.

Too bad you have forgotten that there were much fewer rares when the game first came out, making it easier for day one players to keep their manifests looking full. Now there are tons of rares, making newcomers play longer than others to get their manifests full. Besides, you can't talk about laziness and people not wanting to go down the hard road when every single item is R.A.N.D.O.M. Even some people who have been playing regularly since the game's release date are still having trouble maxing out their manifests, because the store is too stubborn to give them ultra rares or anything other than level 4 ammo.
Heck, even some of the uncommon gears are rarer than Ultra rares. Commons and some uncommons are easy to level up, but the large array of rares and ultra rares will be a nightmare for anyone to unlock. By the time they do get their manifests looking good, the game's lifespan may end.

Incorrect.
I only started getting level 4 ammo when i maxed my last rare.
you will also remember the old termers were limited to gold and ~70,000 credits.

That is what I bought when I got the upgrades, but like I said there was less stuff to unlock. Don't know how it would work If I tried it now.

there is only 5 or 6 i think character customizations so even with more types of characters you would still be unlocking them faster than the "old days". also the fact that those CC's would also stop us from getting weapons for a long time to.
of course i guess some of you cant understand logic and numbers so its not your fault.
but im done here as the LOL is off the charts in this thread.

I also think that characters should require only a single unlock. Unlocking four customisations of the new Turins is a bit frustrating if you are after new weapons.
No. No. And NO.
You'd rather be one(two) unlock away from going back to pulling gold consumables, rather than four(eight)? As long as you haven't pulled the characters the ammo and gear aren't in your potential pool. Not that it mattered for me since I maxed both turians before dropping a million creds on PSPs.

Well as someone who played multiplayer since day one, my packs have been plagued with level 4 ammo ever since the DLC that added them was released. I still had plenty of rares to max out, but level 4 ammo would always find its way into SPs and PSPs. It took loads of all-night gold and occasional platinum farming before I was able to max out most of the rare items, all thanks to level 4 ammo.
And even though the max difficulty was gold, it was still enough to get a specter pack after every game.

What I meant is that there could be a separate Recruit/Veteran/Spectre/Premium Spectre pack for weapons, characters and gear respectively. Weapon packs could be slightly cheaper than character packs, as there are more upgrade levels and a new character is generally more desirable than a rank I weapon. This would allow more casual players, such as myself, a better chance at getting something they want.Corgun wrote...

As a new player, I'd have to agree. I think there should just be separate packs for characters, weapons, gear etc. at different price points.
THERE ALREADY ARE!! THEY ARE CALL RECRUIT, VETERAN, SPECTRE AND PREMIUM SPECTRE PACKS.
I BOUGHT THE GAME JUST OVER 2 MONTHS AGO AND LOOK AT MY MANIFEST. YOU START BUYING RECRUIT PACKS UNTIL YOU GET THAT FILLED, THEN MOVE TO VETERAN, THEN... hopefully you get the point by now. It is not hard. Stop the whining because you want access to every aspect of the game without working toward it. When you get your first ultra rare you will be ecstatic and try it out with many classes and it will be rewarding. You all are complaining because you want only what you do not already have and are thus unhappy until you fill out your manifest which takes time and work which you do not want to put into this game apparently.
I do not expect that I will ever max out my manifest, nor do I believe I would have to in order to be satisfied with the game. There are certain items/characters which I have had my eye on from early on (and those from new DLC), and I would simply like them to be a little easier to work towards and unlock. For now I will continue to work with what I have, buy more packs and hope that I unlock a few things I actually want before I get bored of the game.

You could've argued this before they almost doubled the number the available rare weapons/mods/character kits.
I've seen a lot of new players these past couple of days with Avenger 8s and such and the current unlock system based on gambling is sure to frustrate many more into quitting than it will into continuing.
If they need to grind 4 games of Silver to get 1 PSP, do you really think they're gonna do it repeatedly when all they're gonna get is (probably) total crap?
It would be one thing if all the guns were good, or at least decent, but that isn't the case. For every good gun, there's 2 decent guns and 5 horrendous guns. Thankfully the classes aren't as poorly balanced, that fact may keep 5 or 6 of the new players.

The game isnt going anywhere.
You will start maxing rares by 250 hours of gameplay. So at 2 hours a night (on average) it will be 125 days or ~ 4 months.

In the beginning, here is what the rare/gold card pool looked like:
6 Gold Character X 5 each = 30 cards
8 Gold Weapons X 10 levels = 80 cards
4 Capacity cards X 4 each = 16 cards
7 UR Weapons X 10 each = 70 UR cards
Total Gold Card Pool = 126 + 70 UR thrown in at random
There weren't level IV consumables, gear or weapon mods at that point in the game. It only took a matter of weeks to max and unlock gold cards and characters.
Now take a look at the pool of rare/gold cards today:
12 Gold Caracters X 5 each = 60 cards
14 Gold Caracters X 4 each = 56 cards
1 Battle Field Solder
22 Gold Weapons X 10 each = 220 cards
12 Gold Weapon Mods X 5 each = 60 cards
19 Gold Gear items X 5 each = 95 cards
4 Capacity cards X 4 each = 16 cards
7 Gold Consumables X infinity
2 X 4 UR Characters = 8 cards
12 UR Weapons X 10 each = 120 cards
Total Gold Card Pool (excluding consumables) = 508 + 128 UR thrown in at random
That is nearly a 400% increase in total gold cards not counting gold consumables taking up gold slots even when you have unmaxed characters/weapons/gear/mods etc. That means it will likely take at least 4 times longer for a new comer to get their first maxed gold weapon or getting desired characters unlocked. This is the daunting factor and what it feels like to try and unlock and max anything worth while now vs at launch. I have been playing since launch on the xbox and I feel daunted now trying to start over on the PC.
Bioware needs to address this sicne they are still selling, promoting and building the game and it hasn't even launched on WII-U yet. Please look into diversifying the store with packs targeting specific pools, the most basic and minimum pools being Character cards, Weapon cards and mods, Consumables cards (or expanded jumbo packs that include level IV ammo) and Gear cards.

Here's an Idea , why not make the store more a market place. still have RNG that's not going to change but make packs more specific to certain classes or weapons types. maybe
* Soldiers Pack :Assault rifle amps , Soldier class cards higher chance to drop an Assault Rifle / shotguns
* Powers Pack : Pistols , SMGs , Warp ammo, power amps higher chance to unlock Biotic / Tech class
* Infiltration pack / stealth : Sniper rifle's , Sniper Rail amps , Targeting VI , higher chance to unlock Infiltrator class
Taking this a step further, the packs could follow the challenge themes. We have challenges for Commando, Bloodpack, Outsider and Machinist mastery. Offer a pack for each of these that gives a chance to unlock the first level of a character or weapon, but it is limited to these specific set of cards.
Any new mates I bring into this game have he unenviable task of trying to unlock new characters and weapons, and their chances in the grand RNG scheme are pretty slim.

You dont need a PSP to max out uncommon/commons
they also dont need good weapons to clear bronze/silver.
Problem is newcomers are jumping straight to gold/plat and getting a shock.
I spent AGES on silver.

This. I have friends who really liked the game but have lost pretty much all motivation to play it just because of the unlock system.
A store based entirely on gambling was a pretty bad idea with a small item/kit pool like the game had at launch, but now that there's A LOT more in the possible RNG rolling pool, a gambling based store is a really, really, really, really, REALLY bad idea.

As far as I know they just replaced extra character cards with level IV ammo, nothing was actually changed to make it easier to unlock or max unmaxed rare cards. I started getting level IV ammo almost immediately after I maxed my first rare weapon.Shrakelle wrote...
I want to unlock the rare characters, mods and gears that I don't have. But no, for some reason level 4 consumables now take precedent over things you are yet to unlock. Is it not supposed to be the other way around? When did this change? What does Bioware have to say about this?
