I'm all for getting Shepard back, but if they did that where would the story go?

Shepard's rookie days? (origin story included)

A side-quel would be a bit odd since between ME1 and ME2, Shepard and the Normandy crew were doing routine Geth surveillance. Between Me2 and ME3 Shepard was on the way back to Earth to answer for the events that happened during ME2 (working with Cerberus/Arrival).

Not sure where they would take it post-ME3 with Shepard as the protagonist.

I want Shepard more than anything else. The human Shepard, not an AI or new species green Shepard.

Not an alien, or half alien Shepard kid.

Just Shepard.

Anti-Shepard sequel people, I understand your opinion. Please try to understand mine.

We are not Anti-Shepard ...We are just realist. BW said no more Shepard, that means no more shepard.

Exactly, people are asking for something BW can't give. It's a new character turn...Maybe in the same time line or new time line but Sheps story is done.

They definatly made sure it's not ******** this time.

Have they?

That would be killing the character off in all endings. Not leaving themselves a 'get out of jail free' card in destroy+'s ending.

If DA3 tanks, let's see how much of a gamble BW feels like taking.

Lol! We are proud to announce ME4 featuring Shepard against the Leviathans!

I'm not against getting Shepard as the main character again, it's just I can't see where the story would go post-ME3. I can't see them bringing Shep back just to send him/her off again for help. By the time you return, Earth would be gone and so would the entire armada you assembled.

I know people are going to say they can set it in the future, but for Shepard being human and all it couldn't be set that far into the future.

The only current ending to lend itself to Shepard returning is destroy.

Given this, you've got a redefinition of the balance of power amongst the major races, you've got massive rebuilding going on everywhere, you'll have opportunists looking to take advantage, the spectre of the Krogan becoming more aggressive, the mass relay system knackered - Shepard could factor into stories about most if not all of these. Let's face it, if Shepard did survive, how likely is he/she to simply retire with all that going on?

Probably the only thing that might tempt me back for ME4.

Multiple races. It is cheaper in the mass effect universe as the races sound different by effects rather than different voice actors.

I'd be happy to have Shep back but I have reservations about it. I worry about her story becoming stale and I also worry about how they would handle the romance. Cause, ya' know, if they mess that up people will be mad. To be honest, my Shep's romance with Kaidan seems fairly settled (despite the lack of a reunion after destroy). Any new conflict introduced between them to maintain the drama would seem contrived at this point. My guess is some of the romances would be relegated to 'long distance' like they did with ME3 unless Shep chooses a new partner. Do not want. But, if they can find a way to keep the stories fresh, I'm all for it.

I'd also be happy with a new protagonist. I prefer human and hope that if they decide to introduce other species that they make it optional. Otherwise, I doubt I would play the game.

I agree, unlikely. Which is one of the reasons I'll be checking out of the franchise once the ME3 DLC wraps.

Shepard.

Or a geth... like this one on my avatar, while it is doing some random stuff on Rannoch. Of course after they kicked the Quarian's ass off. Maybe while it is building part of the Dyson sphere: can you see how cool it can be? Just immagine it with a welding rod instead of his rifle in the hand. How thrilling.

Well I guess we should take what they tell us as gospel.

It doesn't really matter though - I'm quite happy to bow out of the franchise once the DLC's finished.

I would like to be someone who isn't railroaded into emotional outbursts and stupid ideas "just because". Don't need to be cyborg Jesus, just some guy who can figure out that charging a Reaper without any diversions or multiple angles of attack is a BAD idea yeah? Can we get that BioWare? Someone who has a brain?

Commander Shepard for Mass Effect 4.

A Turian, Quarian or Drell for a spin-off prequel/sequel whatever.

Shepard's story is over so I am all for letting him retire so to speak. Time for someone new to come along.
