Man alive what is it with people on the bsn not wanting new protaginists even when the old protaganists story is over? Warden's story was over in DAO but people cried because DA 2 had a new one. Now people still want Shepard after his arc and the reaper threat is over. We have had him for three games. Even if he does survive the destroy ending (which is heavily implied that he does), his days of saving the galaxy are over. Shepard is chilling on a beach somewhere making blue babies with Liara, while he invites Garrus and Wrex over for the occasional cookout.

I like shiney new stuff and sometimes that includes protaginists.

I'm all for a new protagonist if there is a well-established storyline and Bioware is capable of bringing back the quality that they put into ME1 and ME2. ME3 wasn't horrendous, but it didn't draw me into the game as the first 2 did.

With them already planning a new ME game, I'm more worried about the amount of effort that will get put into the game, especially with the changes that has been going on with Bioware (team members leaving (i.e: Jesse Houston, Drew K), co-founders leaving). Might just be me, but the time leading up to ME3 you could tell how exhausted the team was and that might have translated into the game.

I would like to once again have a Shepard to take him through the battle. Without it, Mass Effect is just a normal game. without spirit.

using a human character isn't the problem as long he or she gets a new face and story, but using the same human character like Commander Shepard over and over, it gets boring.

Or chatacter options.

I'd love the next game to have race selection. If it has a fixed human protagonist, I'm guessing it could be the kid listening to Stargazer.

Commander Shepard, cloned from the DNA stored by the Alliance as a means of identification.

Hey, the Salarians cloned Karkasauri from recovered bones, right? They can do Shepard from fresher DNA...

I'd like the option of choosing from a few races, give it a DA:O feel with individual prologues. I mean at this point we do have this massive galaxy worth of stories and lore to have fun with, it'd be cool to experience it as a Turian, Quarian, Asari....Volus? ...nah,.

This^

Almost akin to the style of the Elder Scrolls.

No Shep. Bioware **** in his/her mouth, doused it in lighter fluid, and then sent the flaiming corpse down the gullet of a Thresher Maw. Then they nuked it from orbit.

Shep's done. But the ME universe is not.

Not for me. "No Mass Effect without Shepard" is my new motto. Old motto? Post-ending motto! (If they had properly ended ME3, I'd have been able to move on and play a new protagonist. Now I can't.)

My motto as well.

Hum again I say a new protagonist for a new story arc. . . I still lean towards sequel as well since I rather not know the outcome.

I don't have a problem with the option for Shepard's kid, another human, or giving players the option to play some other race if they chose.

But no, no more of this constant Shepard. With some of ya I'm beginning to wonder if your freezing your pets after they pass away since ya can't let them go! *kidding*

I guess I don't really want to be reminded of these ME3 endings.

Still that said it would be nice to start off with a NEW character that 'grows' in the game. AKA something happens changes their personality or perception or even direction in life. Or they have to grow up a bit, (early on in the series. - Assuming there is going to be more than one game made.)

Human, or at a pinch Quarian if the games set far enough in the future that they no longer need to wear a "bucket" on there heads.

so humans or... humans who have been slightly photoshopped?

Personally I hope quarians continue to wear their suits as a sort of traditional clothing. Honestly if I had to choose between a better ending for the game and having quarians look different, I would have chosen the latter. If I had wanted someone who looked human I would not have picked the chick with the helmet, two fingered hands, and backwards knees.

I hope that since I picked Synthesis I can be a Geth. If not I would be happy to be any of the other races.

Personally I really hope that it features a Batarian as a prominent character, maybe even the protagonist. They deserve more of a role in the story than they have been given. Honestly the gaining of their entire fleet happened in a rediculously easy side-mission that I'm sure many people didn't even bother doing.

The main character being human has no effect on how relatable he is as a character, or at least I don't think it should.

I'm just not sure how ME4 can work well. If it's set after Shepard's last stand there are too many variables for them to do anything but choose one canonical ending. Bioware's panel at ComicCon said something about how they don't consider any ending as canon and essentially leaving that choice to the player. If they chose an official ending now, it would alienate anyone who hates that particular one.

If they set the game before ME1, it'll run the risk of looking dated, because the galaxy would not have experienced the burst of advancement that it received in the events of those games.

It could perhaps work if it were set in a previous cycle, or alongside Shepard's reaper war, with a variety of races and classes to choose from - something along the lines of Dragon Age: Origins. Just hope they make a co-op mode for the main story if they go that route.

I still want to play as a human, so I can identify with my character. I have nothing against being able to play as a member of another race, as long as the human option remains.

Oh and BTW: I have accepted that Shepard's story is over, so I don't think I will have a problem switching over to another character, maybe even during the final of the Reaper war for starters.

My Shep has had enough of the political bull**** for some time, so he'll probably go underground like this guy:

A prequel starring either Wrex, Mordin or perhaps even Garrus during his Archangel exploits!

BTW: I think Mass Effect 4 could be named "Mass Effect Obsession" which would be about the search for Shepard...

But my Shep will only be found if he wants it! :-)

I mean like is it safe to say there wont be Shepard, i mean...they already said that. And i dont think they would canonize any ending. There's always other solutions.
