Please somebody other than Shepard, unless it's Shepard. I'd definitely like to see the option to play as different races possible.

I think that character options would be best. You get to choose between a Turian, an Asari, a Human, and a Salarian. Customize or use the vanila and presto, you have your protagonist.

My guess is the starchild. He became the protagonist at the end of Mass Effect 3, so he might as well become the main character in 4.

Well i'm sure 90% of people would want Shepard in the next Mass Effect game, AND Bioware said Shepards journey is finished. I can very much doubt he wont be in the next Mass Effect game.

Wasn't there a Bond movie: "Never Say Never Again" and what's that saying? It isn't over until the fat lady sings? Well, I'm still waiting for her to show up in this soap opera. Shepard could still be back, but I think Shepard would want to take a few months off after this war.

While I am hoping for the ability to choose any character, I will just say one thing.

I am fine with the ending of ME3, the only thing that would keep me from buying ME4 is if they caved and made Shep the main character.

Honestly, I don't understand why everyone wants them to bring back shepard, he is dead. Bringing him back only makes his sacrifice meaningless, his saga has ended.

Yes, but I'd like the option to choose Shepard's descendant as a background choice (If human or Asari)...

Though now that I think about it,, that would only work with a male Shepard with a human female LI (Or Liara), and a female Shepard that survived Destroy that romanced Liara or a human male LI.

The possibility of the character being a descendant of Shepard is not unlikely if you exclude all romances by FemShep that were with a male, a single Shep, the MaleShep who romanced Miranda, Tali and Cortez (unless you say that the aforementioned characters changed their name to Shepard and then had kids). Voice wise, just do a Jedi Academy: one voice for all races. I don't care if my Turian talks with a slight Canadian accent (Mark Meer still as VA, thank you very much)

ME4 would actually be brilliant with Shepard as I believe it would deal with the Galaxy coming to terms with the new balance in power. No longer are the Turians the strongest military in the Galaxy, the scandal of the hidden (that nearly cost the galaxy the war) Prothean artifact that stigmatised the asari, the rise of Warlord Mordin Wrex, the implications of the Leviathans etc etc.

What that is, is a Galaxy ready to go to war (hot or cold). Remember how USA and USSR became mortal enemies after WW2, remember the brief historical period between WW1 and WW2. With the glue that is Shepard gone, what will happen? What will happen when Shepard is found alive? What will Shep do in this new Satus Quo? Does the Council still exist? The new anti-human sentiment caused by Cerberus actions and the existence of the Citadel in Earth Orbit?

ME4 is the effort of a legend to stop the anihilation of his kind by those he once called allies.
