I would prefer a human character as there are alot of options to customize him or her just like Shepard in the first three games. Can't do much customization with an Asari, Turian, Salarian, or other alien race.

i want to be able to pick which race i play as in ME4....if it is a single player game.

in which case it will be an asari that kicks the butt and loves all the ladies....and mens...and everything inbetween.

Something similiar with how they did DA2. Have the protagonist be human obviously. The protagonist can be a possible relation to Shepard depending on Shepard's origin story ie spacer, earthborn but doesn't heavily affect the story or how people react to the player. A niece, nephew or son or daughter. A fixed Destroy ending is a given so we know Shepard is still about and run into old squadmates. Little interaction with Shepard aswell cause he's a badass.

I'm in the minority but I would be fine with and Asari or Turian protagonist. They could do something with the Asari discovering the Citidel or even later on when Galactic Civilization really takes off. I'll be pretty disappointed if we get anothe typecast human as it will severely limit the era in which the game can occur.

That would be killing the character off in all endings. Not leaving themselves a 'get out of jail free' card in destroy+'s ending. 

If DA3 tanks, let's see how much of a gamble BW feels like taking.

All endings have a get out of jail free card now with Javik memory stones and clone shepards.
They could write a way out of Shepard truely being dead in any ending if they wished.
I don't think Shepard is done. Or at least I don't want to think she is. Otherwise I would turn away from mass effect forever and never look back.

I've always said BioWare should just shoehorn Firefly into the Mass Effect universe.

I was recently watching "Out of Gas" (the best episode, in my opinion), and in the end during the flashback, when Mal's first looking at Serenity, I really wanted to experience that "smuggler in love with his ship" trope.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Normandy.  But I'd take a junker that manages to scrape by over the most high-tech ship in the galaxy (that still always has to scrape by regardless) any day.

Just want shepard to be infinitley famous. Player is human, dont care what he is doing as long as it isnt similar galactic politicking. set hundreds of years in the future (so we can see old grunt, liara, and possibly geriatric wrex somehow).

I don't really care who the protagonist is as long as they can make characters that are likable, believable, and feel like family like the characters in the ME trilogy have felt like the past 6 years.

It really was an awesome group of characters that we had the joy to join.

We get (a) Commander Shepard (child of).


We get it far enough into the future so that the events of ME3 don't have to completely dictate the games story.


We get a non-human to play with.


Add in Wrex's offspring as well and we have the beginning of a squad.





(for the record I still want MY shep back...)

I think this is the option that BW should go with beacuse the majority of my friends who have played this game chose Liara as there LI and she's availdable for both male and female shepard there's the bonding moment on earth and it provides a link to sheperd. it's the way i can see most people staying happy.

No, that would never work.  Beside the outrage of fans over their non-LI Shep being raped, you also have the issue that this provides only a single gender for players with limited customizability.  This from a series where we are used to customizing whatever we want.  Also, you'd have to go through hoops to get a soldier class out of the all biotic Asari.  That and i think it's time for a new protagonist.  Shepard's story is done, for better or worse, just let him rest and let a new generation of heroes arise.

Shepard. As I said before, why kill of such a great protagonist so relatively soon (6 years isn't that long btw)? They killed off their own cash cow, not very EA like.

I hope they do cave and retcon for all I care.

Shepard is a great hero. Would love to see a new series that dives into his/her character. Show some weakness. Similar to what 343 is doing with Halo now. For the first series, we got a super hero. For the second series, we get a flawed hero. I think that would be the most interesting.

Worst possible scenario: You romances don't matter, you play as Liara and Shepard child, because BW sooo loves Liara that they will make her canon and Liara can be romanced even if Shepard is female... <goes to vomit>

Best possible scenario: You play character of any race (kind like DA:O) during reaper wars and at the end you are able to save Shepard either from Indoctrination or from the ruble in london. You get plenty of character cameos and a space hamster.
