Try defragging. Also I have a better computer than yours and my load times are longest when I'm starting a new game, but the other loads are about 30 seconds.

Load times are not an issue here. Nothing like a minute. I've not timed the load times but they are so short it has not come to my mind to time them until I stumbled across this thread while I"m goofing off.

Shrug. Sounds like a CPU issue to me.

System here (in sig)

Lol all you seem to do is brag about your PC all the time. You are in loads of threads...
My pc eats your pc like it's nothing....  I can not take anymore of your show off behavior, without having something to show off. Sigh.:wizard:

I've seen other posts about memory leaks and such that describe this problem. I'm wondering if it's an issue that we'll see a patch for. I certainly hope so as my preformance starts to degrade after an hour or so and by hour 3 it takes 7ish minutes per load screen and opening my inventory takes 10 seconds.

From what i have noticed it seem to have something to do with a memory leak while loading. (some times i have like 3sec loading and some times 3-5min)... Ok thats not true honestly its not loading at all the first 96% of the time when it happen. When i do decide to start to load (you can hear it with the music that start to play) it will go quiet fast. Another bug that need to be fixed i guess.

I certainly hope we see a patch soon, otherwise I may begin to wonder if this game is 60+ hours long only because of the loading times. haha

I'm using a 3.5 year old iMac with a Core Duo 2 ghz processor and 2 gigs of RAM. Even after 5 straight hours of gameplay my load times aren't more than 30 seconds, and I'm not far above the minimum requirements for the game and running it on Windows 7. You may want to check and see if something else is going on with your hard drive or if you have something else going on in the background.

I have an uber PC and I still get long loading times. (i7 960, OC'd @ 3.7, 2 Geforce 280GTXes, 12 gig of 1600mhz triple channel ddr3 ram, 3 300gb raptors in raid 0, x-fi sound. I find that if I alt tab out and come back, it will be loaded. I'll try resetting tonite.

Checked the forums and didnt see any posts about this. Loading times? Between 3-5 minutes to load a area? Just going between the floors in near start (trying to avoid spoilers) up to 5 minutes to load such a small area? Is something wrong with this?

Amd Athalon 64 bit. 5000+ 2.6ghz
4 gigs ram
Vista 64 bit
Nvidia 9800 GT powersmart model
New hard drive. Checked for defrag but not needed.

No idea why it takes so long to load. Just wondering if other people are having this issue or not.

you could have a bunch of background crap eating up ram (other crap besides vista).
is that a new pc or one with various pieces upgraded? could be a bottleneck somewhere.
my longest load time so far is ~25 secs.
yeah, it's not a memory leak.  hilarious that's getting put out there.  if it was a software issue it'd be a problem across the board.  just because you learn an esoteric term doesn't mean you can diagnose it.

To see if it could be a memory leak, see if your memory usage inexorably increases without plausible explanation as your game time progresses. I doubt that this is the problem.

I agree with the ones who said processor..it has to be...I have an average system, Core 2 Duo 3.0, 4 gig ram..and my load times never surpass about 5-10 seconds.

you're proc isn't all that fast by today standards... that could be causing the problem. also what is your ram speed?

i only have to wait 30sec to 1min for loading.

windows 7 ultimate
nvidia 9800 GTX+ OC
some 500gig SATA drive, can't remember now

system is rated 5.9

You are insane to blame his processor. It is entirely Bioware's fault. They have loadscreens for every game. World of Warcraft has a much bigger world but no load screen. It is entirely down to Bioware developers to remove the load screen but they didn't bother.

I would strongly disagree.  People like to blame the processor because it is such an easily quoted number, but having worked in support for years I can tell you unless you are running something fairly high end or compiling applications this is the least likely piece of hardware to be the bottleneck.  It is far more likely to be a background process causing the slowdown, and likely is not hardware related at all.  My system is way older than his with lower specs, and I  get the same load times you do.

And yet closing the game and reloading it resets the issue, bringing load times back down to 30 seconds or so. A bit of an inconvenience, but hardly game breaking I guess.

I another thread, one of the devs said that it can get slow if you keep alt-tabbing out and you need to restart the game.

Yeah, I remember that thread since I tend to alt tab quite a bit while playing games.  From my experience this does seem to increase the load times for some reason and can in fact get pretty bad if you tab out of game a lot.

Restarting the game does the trick so I suppose while I play this game I'm going to have to behave or accept the fact that I'll have to reboot the game every once in a while heh.
