In da2 we couldn't romance her because "incest is wrong".  Now that we're no longer Hawke, we should get a chance to sleep with her.

She can die in far too many ways for that to be likely.

I think this subject has come up before in a previous thread, and then was promptly locked.

I'd love Hawke's siblings to come back (especially Carver), but it seems very unlikely.

If she's alive after DA2, Bethany is too busy making sweet love to Sebastian.

Good luck with that. Too many import problems.

If they're going to return companions, Carver/Bethany might be one of my last choices. They're the worst companions in the DA franchise. They're so bland, even their skill trees represented that...

I mean, Aveline is a Guardian and Isabela is a Swashbuckler. What specialization did Carver/Bethany have? None.

David Gaider stated that he wouldn't do it, so I don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon.

Bioware would never do that, but if I could see only one character from DA2 again it would be (sorry Varric) Carver. Sadly, the siblings could die in more than one situation and I don't think they are as popular as certain (LI) characters.

The main use of "quotation marks" is to indicate that you're repeating someone else.

We're better off asking for a character with a similar personality to Bethany, than Bethany herself. She can die at three different points in the game, and even her appearance isn't set in stone.

I'd really like to see another mage (other than the player character) who isn't one stressful day away from becoming an abomination. Bethany was refreshing, in being relatively calm and sweet, but also possessing an inner strength and common sense. I *know* there are at least a few other mages like that somewhere in Thedas.

Velanna, Morrigan and Merrill all fit that description... at least, none of them are on the brink of becoming abominations.

Merrill liked to play fast and loose with demons so i'd say she was the closest we'd come across to becoming an abomination the other two were awesome but it no way shape or form refreshingly calm and sweet with inner strength and common sense
(but i loved them all)

I'm sure there are those who would debate that with all of them...don't get me wrong, I like all three of them, but Velanna has barely contained rage that nearly causes her to get killed by the Warden when they meet because she doesn't want to listen, Morrigan is very willing to mess with dark forces (like Old God souls), and may be in over her head, and Merrill, at least before the end of her quest line, is too confident in her own view of spirits/demons.  Even at the end of the game, in a templar playthrough, when Meredith is about to murder Bethany, she doesn't give in to demons, and she never seeks power throughout the game.

But other than the party members in DA2, it seems like mages in Kirkwall have very little chance of not being possessed.  It says a lot about Bethany that there is no chance of that happening to her.

i miss Wynne too. We won`t see her again, though. Damn shame.

As for Bethany, given that she can die, and end up as a warden or a circle mage, i am guessing a cameo would be the best we can hope for. I liked Bethany, though. Shame she got taken away early in the game.

Am I the only one that finds it troubling that this is in quotaion marks? I hope that this is one claim that really doesn't get dismissed.

Edit: A nice "According to [whoever you're quoting] "incest is wrong" would do wonders here. Or maybe not. I'm getting the heck outta this topic.

I say yay! I have always been for a open slot in the squad where a surviving Carver/Bethany could accompany you! Even better if they allowed romance.

And I would be really impressed if the devs managed to make sense of their role and make a difference depending on their fates in DA2

I honestly don't think we will. Don't get me wrong I liked her too, and would love to see her again. But she can die in the beginning of the game, in the Deep Roads, and at the end of the game depending whether you side with the mages or templars. I can't imagine Bioware spending a large amount of resources on a character that many people may not even have anymore.

Carver is a far more interesting character than Bethany. I couldn't think of one prominent character trait she had beyond generic niceness. Carver's jerkish behavior generated a great deal more conflict and interesting moments than she ever did. He develops and grows a great deal over the course of the game, especially if made a Warden. I'd rather he returned than Bethany.

If you on ly saw niceness in Bethany then I suspect you played very few playthroughs with her.

She is a well written character and a good polar opposite to Carver. They are both strong, pridefull and intelligent. Carver is snide where she is whiny, he is quite certain of himself where she is confused and just trying to survive. They both show great loyalty to their sibling but still both have strong viewpoints around the middle ground of the mage/templar conflict.
Bethany wants security where Carver wants glory, they both have a genuine concerned hearts and are not afraid to stand up for themselves lest for drawing unecessary attention.

Templar and Force Mage.

I honestly don't remember this.

Maybe it's how I played through my saves with them. Anyways, nothing unique about their specializations. Not compared to your other companions. I actually have access to those on the PC.

At least in the PC version, their specializations had to be patched in, the game didn't ship with them working correctly.  Once you get them back after the Deep Roads, they should have their specialization tree unlocked.

That's probably why I don't remember them then. I played through the game twice at retail. Only once after that.
