Seriously it's like nobody knows how to play against them!  When playing with friends they're not really hard but PUGs are another story.  Cerberus isn't nearly as hard as Collectors.  What part of "Don't get close to the abominations" is so hard to understand?

Its horrible. Last week, pug gold cerberus was almost always full extract. Now I'm lucky if I can get a group though wave 6

Exactly.  I was just on a Giant/Collector match where my team could barely get through wave 3.  I got so pissed that I ended up blowing up a possessed abomination in the middle of the 3 of them and quit the match.  So frustrating.

PUGs returned because The Collectors are interesting. Genuinely new, not just reskins. Some of it is shieldgate being gone, but I think a lot of it is that a lot of crappier players have returned.

3 days in and you think people would have realized that huge expoding sound when you killed the shiny abomination, followed by the death of your character because you meleed it might go hand in hand?

I don't know how many times I've yelled out "DON'T GET TOO CLO...." !!  Too late.

And is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the bad guys swarm the LZ on extraction like never before???

I've played with numerous PUG-s against Collectors. Not a single extract. Every mission FAIL.

Yea I've noticed that too.  The thing with Collectors is if you want to beat them you have to fight from afar, but they ambush you and move so fast.  It's a nightmare on small maps.

I usually end up knocking abominations at my teammates when I kill them.

Not on purpose, of course. Mostly.

Likely some part of it is people adapting to the new enemies, idiosyncrasies of the new patch/dlc. Though, it is always frustrating when people absolutely refuse to use missiles...

That is why i usually go with Reapers when i play with pugs since they are the easiest faction imo.
When we finish the match and see how they did and if i didn't carry them by a large amount i'll change it to another faction that isn't Geth but, that rarely happens.

PUGs in generally are usually pretty bad. I had time for 1 game earlier and loaded up a Unknown/Reaper/Gold. Using a Turian Soldier (default Marksman one) with a Collector Rifle 3 players joined about midway on wave 1, map ended up being London. Wave 8 fail because I had to use 3 gels on wave 6 devices since apparently not a single teammate could use one of their gel(s) even though I already had 5 revives by that time and none of them had used a single one. Final scores on the wipe (start of wave 8 mind you, I went down attempting a revive because I ended up having to solo the end of 7 as well and went down a couple times not being able to dodge a Banshee Warp):

Me: 92,500 (still had 3 missiles, used one on 5 on a large spawn too close to me and one on 7 to make sure the Banshee didn't grab me near the end).

Random 1: 26,000
Random 2: 24,000
Random 3: 11,000

Now I do realize they may not have had any equipment on, but there is NO reason I should be up in score by 70k by wave 8 when I barely had a head start (maybe like 5 or 6k). There is also no reason a Vorcha Sentinel should ever score 11k in 8 waves against the Reapers. Flamer alone (which he did have, saw a kill feed for it) destroys Reapers, using a gun he should have at least been around the same as the others.

tl;dr: PUGs are bad no matter what enemy, even worse against enemies they have barely seen (Collectors and new Cerberus setup). Also, learned a lesson not to use a character that can't dodge when playing PUGs since I may as well be playing solo.

I would play against friends but cant. Some misterious connection issue. I can connect to some friends but not to others. So im stuck playing PUG-s. Thankfully PC PUG-s arent that bad. Most players seem to know what they are doing.

was in a PUG today.. only one I played cos it was so damn awful with Cerberus

Dragoons were mostly to blame but.. really.. they are not that hard, I was incinerating em away fine but no one was.. well, using anti armor attacks on them!

I say give it afew more weeks then people will figure it out.

cant comment on collectors though not played them in a pug yet

i ll play my novaguard-falcon against cerb when Pug-ing until people figure out how to take care of dragoon and everything else at the same time

novaguard + falcon is pretty much immortal against cerb, even more so than the kroguard
only problem is that you have to be host

I think the reason why you may find them so hard now, is you aren't used to them. It is natural to fear what you do not understand. Although they provide a decent challenge, they have gotten easier since the 1st time I've played them because I understand them better.

Any public match lately has ended in disaster minus a good few.. I don't know if it's because of our nerf to the players or the fact that veterans and people who do know how to play jut disappeared.

Plus with the annoying Dragoons, Cerberus has dropped lower in my book--they were my favorite. I missed it when they had human tactics than barbaric animal instincts.

Eh, it's all random. I just earlier went into a public gold match against Collectors on Firebase Dagger Hazard and we wiped the floor with them. Of course, we had two furies, a shadow, and a Krogan Sentinel so we naturally worked as a team to get near constant biotic explosions. Teamwork really does make the Collectors pretty simple.

Yes, this. Was in a PUG earlier today against Collectors with the whole team working as a group up until wave 8, when the host broke away from the group trying to Rambo it alone for some unfathomable reason. He got downed, someone else got downed trying to go revive him. me and the other survivor went to try and help them, but it was a cluster**** by then and we both went down as well. There was no sense in either of us reviving ourselves since every bad guy was on top of our bodies. The only thing I can think of is that he was at the bottom of the scoreboard and wanted to up his kill count, otherwise it made no sense whatsoever for him to head to the other side of the map alone.

PUGs are certainly getting more interesting. It's a good thing I like interesting.

Just had a pair of matches against Cerberus on gold and we barely missed extraction, getting wiped with seconds left on Hazard Reactor. The players I was with seemed good, it was just like we were using tactics with the assumption our opponents hadn't changed. I stuck with the group for the next round on Goddess and it went off relatively clean -- full extraction and I only used a couple thermal packs.

People just need time to adapt. And like Seer235 said, teamwork makes all the difference. That and not camping the extraction zone for two minutes on extraction (my pet peeve of the moment).
