It's been awhile since I've played and now when I launch the game it tries to sync up with some cloud server where my data is stored(not happy with that btw). However it usually gets to 5% or so and freezes. A half hour later, it says it's unable to sync. Can't play the game while its doing this nonsense. Any thoughts/solutions?

Yeah that could solve it. The problem is that cloud syncing cannot be managed for a single game - it applies for all of your Origin games. I had the same negative experience with their buggy cloud storage mechanism so at some point totally disabled it. It was fine with me since only the single player saves and progress is affected. I played and replayed the game using the default, normal way - all files saved in my local PC.

If you plan to play the game on another computer all you need to do is copy the content of "\\\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3\\Save" folder on a flash drive, or a disk, or just upload it somewhere. Then simply paste in on the other machine at the same folder. Basically this is what Origin's cloud syncing does - stores these files on their server and keeps them updated with your single player progress.
