It should not be announced until it is really ready to roll out. That way we have no name calling and no thread that run for an insane amount of page with rants, mine and yours included.

That way people have no expectations and can carry on playing the base game and perfecting their play style.

Nuff said.

This just in: The 'the customer is always right' motto, combined with internet anonymity, makes people think they're entitled to be complete jerks about trivial little things.

i think it should be announced, when they have a date to release it lol.

thats the only thing ive been logging onto the da site daily to check up on

"release date yet? nope, alright check email now"

i understand building the suspense, and trying to get interest. but yeah maybe waiting until a week until it comes out to announce it, two weeks at the most.

but a month or so in advance, and you see people going on crazy rants, and making insane assumptions based on two sentences of information provided by the devs.

a dev says "yes well you can expect to see new gear"

and what the reader with too much time on their hands hears is " i can without a doubt say that this expansion is purely for loot whoring, and it will have reskins of our same gear, bla bla bla, things that no one even said yet, bla bla, stuff completely unrelated about morrigan(because people bring her up in everything for some reason) and all of our dlc content willl be meager and over priced."

because thats the kind of tangents people go on after a dev saying like two words

they think theres some hidden meaning, and that they are somehow smarter than the rest of us, so they have to figure it out for us.

and then the "Q&A" thread, turns into a 19890 page thread that has nothing to do with Q&A and has turned into people arguing over nothing.

If you don't announce it then people are going to complain about the silence from Bioware. Once they came out with their "2 years worth of DLC" plan they set themselves up for this sort of loose-loose situation.

People are going to complain no matter what you do, but you'd upset more legit people by dropping DLC at random with no warning what so ever then by missing a date by a week or two.

Or maybe try being vague next time. "Coming in 2010" is just about vague enough. Saying Holiday 2009 tends to sound like you actually mean within the month of December 2009. And of course you would be a jerk to expect a company to keep their word.

It doesn't really say Holiday 2009 as a matter of fact if you look for more info or watch the trailer to the end you'll see it comes out January 5, 2010. which i guess...would be part of the holiday season...if it were to go on for longer than my personal holiday season does

Well if you are not adverse to using Steam as a gaming medium, you could always spend your 5 bucks on many AAA games that are on sale till January 3.

Well, actually more people have vacation and time to play in the last week of december. So wetting our mouths with saying it's released during "holiday season", I'd feel it's almost pointless to release it on the last possible day and pretend to have kept word.

I guess it was meant to be released earlier, but probably development is behind schedule.

The ranting and complaining would've never happened if they just had a release date from the beginning.

BS it would of just been directed at something else just as minor. "omg they aer releaseing it so soon after the other DLC'S RARW RAGE RABBLE!!!!"  or some such nonsense.

they should announce it after it is certified and ready to go...even if they have to wait a couple of weeks for their return on investment...they still know that fans will goblle this up anyways so they will not loose anything...

But they should make bigger expansions ( dlc) the next time around...

BioWare is in a no win situation with this.

Many people bitterly complained when all they would say was it's done when it's done.

Many people bitterly complain when you set a release window and it's not hit.

Truth of the matter is the thing that should make us happy is that BioWare, despite missing an excellent release window and hating to announce a date and have to disappoint its fans, is willing to hold off on releasing the DLC to give the fans a better product.

In the end it is far more important that it is good then that it is fast.
