1st: press cntrl+alt +del and check no: of processes running . in xp you want to get down to 20 - 25 /Vista/7 =30
For all who have Amd processes=easy =download and run program "Amd Fusion" closes down all of the "unneccisary" services you are running. othervise there are a lot of tweak programs that you can download to fix your Pc up.Win7 manager fex. 1 of the best is EVGA precision. if you have a Nvidia Gcard : overclock and monotiring all from temp to fps(much better than fraps imho)
From my my xp , Dao is more depending of your Vcard than Pc.
Im not intending to write a total guide reg this , find it more or less impossible...Everyones Pc`s are different..
Some tips:
Xfi sounblaster owners(got xfi xtreme gamer myself) 1st:(crucial!!!) if you got a built in sound card =disable that 1 in Bios!!: + disable Soundblaster enchantments (some compab. issiues with Dao) "(xfi-cmss 3d)

Your memory /Gcard can be overclocked(dont try without knowing what youre doing though)
Read the Forum! = Every Game have their Tweaks and tricks ,sometimes you find an easy 1 that fix it all!(but listen to the "right" ones..)
Cant give "good " tips reg ATI /or intel when I dont have the Xp . but reg Nvidia I can say that on certain cards = you can safe overclock them a lot.. Got a low end card myself =Gainward 8400Gs . Oced=25%core ,shadow -35%mem (xtra cooling) + that 8400gs is very good card to oc. (running at 40c in games with this oc=....What??)
Anyways : You can tweak your system to run more than twice as fast than you imagine..
Many posts regarding stutter/bsod etc have none to do with the game , rather your pc setup...
Myself : Pc Amd single core 3500+ 2.2mghz , Win7 ,2G ram(1.85 free idle after tweak win) + lowered tras ..etc in bios)Gcard Nvidia 8400Gs 512mb (heavy oced)
Dao running at avg 25fps with "low/no AA/High / no Fb effects 1024/768 res.4ggr antr filt
Very playable even though my machine isnt "supposed " to run this game - even in "big fights" like Redcliff -I never go under 12 fps(And still quite smooth) Seen peeps posting that they get slide show with high end cards+quadcore machines....=not the game=your setup ...are you complayning about bad performance+got50+ processes running , antivirus scanning your pc,downloading 3 films,logged in to msn/facebook..etc..and complaining the game lags....well..
Running game fine -never crashed/no missing items/no probs with Dlc..
Only 1 is that my Soundcard wasnt 100% comp.needed turn off enchantments(No biggy ,cant hear the diff)
Conclusion: There are always ways to get your Pc to work fast with games -its all "out there" begin read "tweakguides.com" (ps , sorry for any "mispelled " English is not my native Languange..)
