Pretty sure he will purr, too, if you stroke him right.
I do want a cat, but more of a big cat... a tiger or panther type kitty. Okay, confession: I love tigers.
Someone mentioned different dog breeds, YES! I picture the Orlesian coursers to be like greyhounds or salukis. What a disappointment that they just recycled the Mabari look in MOTA.

I just remembered about this, but does Zevran remind anyone else a little bit of Pus in Boots?

I know. The sexy accent, the love for gold, the hired assassin part, the part where he begs to join his former targets? I was talking to some other people about this and they thought I was crazy!

And if it's ever appropriate in a Dragon Age game, a parrot. He could talk at great length and be very showy when he's alone. And then when someone visits to look at this wonderous parrot it just silently sits there, mocking you with its glare.
All that said, a non-combat cat might also be cool (like a BG2 mage familiar). He can loot. He can scout. He chases mice and birds. His hackles rise at the sight of water. He's a topic of conversation in party banter. And he flees into your backpack at the site of danger or the sound of thunder. Perhaps he should also be terribly afraid of shoes.
