Random off-topic question, why does every call kai Leng a "cereal" killer? I don't get the joke, if there is one.

Because in the book Deception,he broke into Andersons apartment and ate his cereal.

why? What tactical advantage did he hope to gain from eating his cereal?

Don't go by the first edition of that book, I don't even know if the reedited version of that book is out yet. I have not read it, but heard others say it has so many flaws, Gillian being several years older than what she should have been, Kai Leng being so out of character, etc.

So can anyone tell me what the reasoning is for Shep to put the reapers aside to help with taking back omega? Seriously I am curious about this because I can not come up with a single good reason for it.

The same reason there are Loyalty missions in ME2 or even Overlord or LOtSb to let you see and learn more about the universe you are in!

Pretty much, also you don't have to do them they are all optional

Too little, too late? I would have loved this dlc a couple months back but now, playing a dlc which would require me to restart the game (we all know how it ends and as for the beginning it takes a while before having "freedom of movement") is totally unappealing.

I would have had enjoyed this dlc more than the modified ending but I will not reinstall the game for it and even less replay half the game to get to it. Yeah, the original ending was bad but the new one (which was still bad but not as much as the original) didn't add anything in terms of game play. Just a few extra lines at the very end and a few extra cutscenes. I had already imagined better to fill the holes.

I can't either. Yet Shep took zillions of times out while chasing down Saren and trying to stop the Collectors.

Leviathan was more than worth it, and the fact that this costs more means it will contain more. I'm more than happy to pay the extra $5.

Leviathon made no sense but did what I knew they HAD to do if they planned to continue with future ME games: it produced a new threat that is equal to, or surpasses the Reapers.  It made no sense because, like the endings, it contradicted itself.  The Leviathon race created the Reapers and the Reapers soon turned on the Leviathons and DEFEATED THEM and forced them into hiding.  Yet in the DLC you find them (find that they are at least as big a dick as the Reapers are wanting "inferior" races to worship and serve them) and, easy as you please, they defeat a reaper by just practically thinking it.  If it was that easy, then how were they driven into hiding by the Reapers in the first place?!  They could have easily squashed the Reapers!  Anyway, by showing the Leviathons to be total dicks bent on forcing other races to worship and serve them it sets them up to be the major antagonists in future games.  This was required.  By defeating the Reapers in the original trilogy, it left a big, gaping hole where a major threat/antogonist used to be so there was no basis for future games.  No, it was not possible to do it without a major threat.  Doesn't work that way.  You can't go from defeating the biggest existential threat to advanced life in trilogy one and go from there to merely dealing with piddly pirates, mercs, and scattered rebellions in future games.  Talk about a major letdown...they HAD to have something to match or surpass the Reapers and the Leviathon DLC presented it.  The Leviathons are the next big bad guys.  They even get to keep with the giant space krill design!

Simple retcon: to get Aria's full support (both she and her mercs) you will have to take back Omega for her.  That or there will be "something" key to defeating the Reapers (adding to the useless "readiness" score) that requires a side mission to Omega.

You DON'T mess with a man's cereal!  You DON'T. Plus, maybe Leng was just hungry, ever think of that?  You're there, no one is home, you have time and your stomach is growling...there's milk and and cereal you like right there...so why NOT eat some?

So no choice but to become Aria's lapdog then. Perhaps i need to rename my Shep fido if he's to become Aria's pet pooch.

Dont download it problem solvedImage IPB

If Shep is railroaded into being her lapdog then i will avoid the DLC like the plague. Doesn't mean that i don't hope the DLC will be better than that and contain choices as to who Shep can eventually side with.

The Leviathan race didn't create the Reapers.

***SPOILERS*** If you haven't played Leviathan, do not read on.

During the DLC, you learn that the Leviathan species were the most dominant race in the galaxy at that point in time. You also learn that they witness many "inferior" races create AI synthetics that, always, eventually turned on them.

As a result, the Leviathan species created an AI to come up with a solution to preserve organic life, at any cost. The AI then came to the conclusion that all organic races will create AIs that will in turn, destroy them. At this point, the AI then thought that, instead of an organic race being completely destroyed, it could be fused with machine. So eventually, the Ai turned on the Leviathan species.

It turned because the only solution it could come up with was to fuse organic and machine into one, hence a Reaper; part machine, part organic. However, the essence of each race still lived on in each Reaper, so the AI deemed this satisfactory as the race wasn't COMPLETELY destroyed; which was it's task in the first place.

At any rate; this is irrelevant to the topic. This new DLC will be interesting, hopefully it follows on from the comic. :)

Only if you choose too.  Like others have said they are optional but the key difference in my eyes is Earth didn't have 100's or 1000's of reapers killing and destroying everything in ME1 and ME2.  Unless there is a real threat to the chance of victory against the reapers on Omega, I see no reason why Shep would help Aria of all people take back her base when we have reapers running rampant on our planet and so many others.

Please don't mistake my question as a knock against the dlc it isn't.  I fully understand this is something alot of people wanted and that it will have no affect on how the game ends.  This is just me trying to justifiy something I have a hard time understanding and was hoping someone had more info about the whats and whys of the dlc.

Honestly, my best guess is because of Cerberus. Since we're fighting them too stopping whatever they are doing in Omega would seem like a good idea.

Unless it affects the endings, 1200 points is too much to justify a DLC piece at full price and quite frankly I spent 78 dollars on a PC copy, 40 on an XBOX360 copy after switching. I'm not interested in spending 20 dollars, which is what it costs me with how I purchase live points on this. I'm still waiting for a patch to fix Leviathan's effects on the EC so I can play it so patch the 'SP' game and we'll talk about wasting money and bandwidth on the shiny.

This does make me decide one thing- if this is going to be the price range of DLC from now on- the 4th Mass Effect better let me play as Shepard (with high EMS Destroy), because I'm not purchasing it without that assurance, and sinking hundreds of dollars into one game has to be worth it. Screw prequels, set in the future, I want present-day. And that means I want an assurance before its released, no wait and see.

If it affects the Endings and gives me a awesome epilogue with victory celebrations- then we'll talk.

well really look at it the other way around... why the hell would Cerberus want to take Omega with so much force to begin with? Unless it was for the Ezo that is there.

They also needed an Operation base while investigating the Collector Base before Avernus Station was constructed and the Omega Relay connects to the majority of the Terminus Systems so its a good stage base for incursions.

In my opinion, I did not think the Leviathan DLC was a good addition to the ME universe, even agreeing that this has given some sense where there were none from the beginning, and because of that I'd rather not create high expectations about the Omega DLC yet .

I suggest moderation in all our expectitativas, and I know it will be difficult because it will be for me, then: Let's see, maybe they make a pleasant surprise for a change? ... I think we deserve it and they owe us that!
