I think it pretty much hinges on whether or not you like Aria as a character. If you do, there are a lot of wonderful character moments in it. If you don't, it's just not worth the price of admittance.

I sometimes wonder if Bioware is really trying to get another "Worst Company" award, after all they did admit that they are EA as well.

unless you team up with Aria to thwart starbrat and space magic BS then it doesn't sound worth .15 let alone $15...

After all the hype, I found this to be quite monotone and certainly unworthy of a $15 price tag. The fact that the DLC is in no way incorporated into the game at large is pathetic. Hopefully Edmonton will return any future DLC to something of note.

While I haven't exactly played the DLC due to how expensive it is on my PSN, I looked at a clip involving Nyreen Kandros and... I never expected her to have the most easily recognised voices on the entire world! No, I didn't expect her to be voiced by Sumalee Montano, who voices Arcee from Transformers Prime.

Thank you so much, BioWare, for choosing an actress I love, especially from my favourite tv show.

I wonder if BW even acknowledges this review, good as it is, my bets are on a blindingly awesome IGN butt licking review for this DLC. Again proof BW has lost not only the plot, but the franchise is indeed dying an apathetic death just like Dragon Age. What a sad, sad tragedy :crying:

Do you have a link to IGN's review on the omega DLC?

im honestly glad it wasnt in the main game after playing it. nothing but run and gun fluff for 4 hours wears on the patience. i cant believe they priced it the most of any dlc though thats just plain offensive and greedy

Does anyone know what the XP total is for Omega? I think I advanced 6-7 levels playing it. That feels excessive, but I'm fairly sure it happened.

Seeing as how this is the announcement thread:

1. I'd really like to see Bioware release a patch for any other bugs and so forth that are around but to also fix the animation glitch during Aria's speech. It really breaks player immersion.

2. The side-mission "Omega: Assist the Mechanic" will not disappear from my journal. I don't know if Bioware were expecting us to find all the stuff related to each side-mission but this is the only one that escaped my noticed (I was looking). I never finished this side-mission and it won't go away, (even after a follow up message 'X number' of missions after Omega.) I would go back and reload but I'm too far ahead to want to do that.A small thing but small things do add up.

Honestly, I barely read reviewers anymore. I watch/read reviews from IGN and maybe Gamespot but that's it. Reviewers are getting worse and worse in my opinion, all I ever see is games or DLC getting slated, and making comparisons with things that just don't need comparing to. I thought Omega was great for its money and I played it first time on Hardcore (ME1: Normal, ME2: Veteran, ME3: Hardcore), died many times fighting adjutants, I thought it was great.

I read a lot about how the Adjutants were a waste: Hello? 2GB file limit here guys. What more do you want? There was so much packed into Omega I'm actually more impressed with how they managed to COMPRESS everything into such a neat package. I think a lot of people are forgetting the limitations being pressed on Bioware. And now the next DLC is rumoured to feature almost the entire Normandy main cast crew again? There's going to be corners cut in the next DLC and I expect to see ****ing there too, however, I know for a fact it will be epic just like Omega was, and I will applaud Bioware's magic for getting so much into so small a package.

I know it has a limit of 2GBs but still it could've been improved in some areas and flesh out more of Aria's past.

In the end, it was a complete waste. It's an entirely linear storyline that offers very little reward, and once complete, Omega vanishes. Unlike Shadow Broker, you cannot return - BioWare does not even add the system to your Galaxy Map, despite you having been there. You can't go back, you can't even fly past. Re-enter the Citadel when you're done and Aria is back sitting on the same couch where she's been for the entirety of the game. It's like nothing has changed and it hasn't.

It's an excuse that barely works in Arrival and serves no story purpose here. Even Shepard is again given the illusion of choice - he can choose to save or kill in a couple of places, but in the end the decisions don't amount to anything.

Leading up to its release, Bioware promised that Omega would be the largest Bioware DLC to date. Many expected something bigger and better than Mass Effect 2’s Lair of the Shadow Broker or Dragon Age 2’s Legacy. Unfortunately, this simply isn’t the case, the gameplay clocks in at around 3-4 hours, including the pitifully few side quests, let’s just say that Bioware made broken promises before.

The same goes for the storytelling aspect, the conquest of Omega plays out pretty much exactly as one would expect, and very little is added to the Mass Effect lore, especially since both From Ashes and Leviathan revealed a wealth of information about the history of the galaxy.

It's there (hint: Talon base), and it's only one item.

The way the journal system is written, incomplete quests don't disappear from the list even if you are locked out already. Same deal with a few Citadel quests, where the quest-giver disappears after the Cerberus coup attempt.

I think it was one of Mike Gamble's interviews that said that.

Found it, and yep, patently untrue, unless they operate under a different definition of "twice the size".

if you are planning on Playing the Omega DLC and in it for just Shoot them up, then it's worth it. if you're just in it for the story, then you'll be unhappy cause it's doesn't offer much as a reward.

@shadowhawk223

The story is rather straight foward, you are helping Aria retake omega from cerberus which is the whole point of the DLC its more character driven rather than story driven.

@TinuHawke

I would wait for a price drop if I were you, but yeah its a good DLC you'll like the banter between Aria and Nyreen, and how you interect with Aria also has an effect on her when the DLC ends.

Well the storytelling aspect for the conquest of Omega plays out pretty much exactly as one would expect which is very disapointing, and very little is added to the Mass Effect lore, especially since both From Ashes and Leviathan revealed a wealth of information about the history of the galaxy.

You can't go back, you can't even fly past. Re-enter the Citadel when you're done and Aria is back sitting on the same couch where she's been for the entirety of the game. It's like nothing has changed and it hasn't. I mean Liara in Mass Effect 2 moved from Iilium to the Shadow Broker's Base after it was completed. Why not Aria? Sure she says that Omega needs to be reworked after reclaiming it but she should have just stayed in Omega where she belonged.

It's an excuse that barely works in Arrival and serves no story purpose here. Even Shepard is again given the illusion of choice - he can choose to save or kill in a couple of places, but in the end the decisions don't amount to anything.

It's kinda sad that in Omega, I didn't notice my choices having much impact to the expansion.

But I did like the expansion still. Good stuff, bit too short, but still nice addon.
